Confirmed by director Michael Dougherty's Twitter handle, Academy Award Winning* creature effects artist Tom Woodruff Jr. will be designing monsters for 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Since 1986's Aliens, Woodruff has been known for bringing the xenomorphs to life in the Alien franchise. (Sans Alien: Covenant.) He's since become the go-to man for creature effects and designs, working on beasts from Tremors (1990), Mortal Kombat (1995), Jumanji (1995), Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013) and many others.
Although details surrounding what he will design remain unconfirmed, it is known that Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah will appear in the sequel. From there, it doesn't take much to connect the dots--Unless of course Godzilla's look is also getting a tune-up.
What do you think of Mr. Woodruff being a part of Godzilla: King of the Monsters? Are you impressed with his prior work? Do you think he'll do Toho's most popular kaiju justice?
