I just hope people like this movie when it is complete.
damnit! could you imagine ultraman in this movie! that would have been sick!
@G.H.(Gman) once I took a second look at it on the site I did realize it was for a con. But I still thought it was interesting at the time but I thought it was some kind of fan art for the con you know? not realizing that this was actually part of the book or movie! just thought I would share this with all of you anyway.
Spielberg tried to get the rights for Ultraman, but Tsuburaya was still in a massive 20+ year legal battle over the rights with Chaiyo. The case was not resolved until late last year when filming for Ready Player One had concluded.
The Iron Giant was suggested as a replacement.
Probably because it was easier to obtain the licensing rights to use the Iron Giant compared to Ultraman.
Not to mention that the Iron Giant is more recognizable to American audiences and likely chosen for nostalgia reasons by Spielberg, who himself is an American film buff.
Why did they cut Ultraman from the movie and replace him with the Iron Giant? Does anyone know why?
riggzamortis86,
That image was for a con about the book, not the film.
But your absolutely right. While the other monsters may be fleeting, it seem MechaGodzilla does have a bigger role as a sort of "final boss" antagonist for the Iron Giant--Much like he was to Ultraman in the book.
^this is what I saw in Horrorfreaknews.com. you can see Mechagodzilla bottom left not to mention ultraman!
I think the iron giant has a big role in the film so I would assume the fight would be displayed as a bigger scene. Not like Chucky from Childs Play or Freddy Krueger just used as background filler. I was already going to see this movie but now that this might actually be a scene then I am totally going!
MechaGodzilla at least has a larger part in the film--He was a big part of the final battle in the book as well.
^There are going to fight the Iron Giant tho, unless the fight only lasted a minute.
Honestly, it sounds like it'll just be in passing like many other references in the film.
I saw a movie poster with mecha-g and ultraman for this movie awhile back on horrorfreaknews.com. I thought it was something someone made as a fan art. but now that I hear it I should have shared it on here! this was like 4 months ago!
This is sick. Their inclusion in the film might be a backdoor way to introduce western audiences to these Kaiju for an eventual inclusion in the Monsterverse
Cameo or larger fight sequence--a license would be a must for all of them.
How is that even possible?
Unless Warner Bros has acquired the Mechagodzilla rights all along?
Like the others are just cameos; but a full on fight sequence with MechaG would require the rights, would it not?
The scene could be Mothras hatch, maybe.
The scene could be Mithras hatch, maybe.
Maybe that blue square from the sixth image is the cocoon?
The female M.U.T.O would destroy the skull crawler, hands down. It would be a 2 minute fight. Kong is 100 feet,My guess is that the skull crawler is 100-180 feet, since they said that the big one is bigger then Kong. M.U.T.O would easily crush the Skull crawler. The best the skullcrawler could get in is acouple bites.
That sucks. The Moth looks kinda cool, but if I were Toho I'd sue them. Thats like copyright for most of them.
It would be epic if they maybe did a "Godzilla returns" film after Kong vs Godzilla. Maybe after the movie Godzilla goes into hybernation after the fight with Kong that maybe weakened him. Aliens would see this as an opportunity to seize earth while their protector lies dormant.
Maybe they launch Gigan or some other new alien monster legendary made. The chaos would awake Godzilla and they would fight, Godzilla emerging victorious. I highly doubt this though.
I highly doubt this, but maybe Manda? Or I could have something to do with that flying Kaiju incident in london.
I think a possible "in-between" answer could be that, when Project Lucifer was scrapped, some old designs were dredged up and played around with when Studio ADI began working with Legendary Pictures on the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters film.
These designs could've become early conceptual designs for King Ghidorah using assets from Project Lucifer that were ultimately phased out, as it often happens when designing things for films.
I'm 50/50 on it. The director says it's not ghidorah, all the officials say it's not ghidorah, and the video wasn't even about him. Some random dude pointed it out in the comments. Then again, directors have lied before, because the director from Star Trek lied that benidect cumberbatch wouldn't be Khan in into darkness, and if it wasn't ghidorah and instead a monster from "Lucifer" then they wouldn't take off all images from it and take the video down. If it's ghidorah or not I don't care, I'm just excited he's in it.
What made me a goji fan was when 2014 came out,I loved it. The story of monsters vs other monsters and humanity's struggle in the middle. I started researching other Godzilla movies, because I had heard of Godzilla before 2014,but the legendary goji opened my eyes to its epic ness. Now I'm a hard core goji fan!
I think after long and gojis first meet and fight they might team up against a bigger monster. It would be cool if it was destroyah or they some how included G-force after 2019,ect
I smell a lawsuit brewing.
It's like they weren't even TRYING.
This is just sad.
Good grief, I wish I had a computer instead of this smartphone. Anyways, I wanted to post these images here so that everyone knows that these are not related to Godzilla 2019. Some of you may already know these have been debunked. Especially the one that looks similar to Mothra. So, I wanted to point out that these are not legitimate to Godzilla 2019. They are for a video game titled "War of Titans."
Just wanted the community here to know this isn't leaks for Godzilla 2019. Gormaru Island confirmed these are not legitimate. Although they are huge rip offs.

I kinda hope that MONARCH has different classifications for different levels of M.U.T.O. species.
For example, humongous nuke-proof M.U.T.O.s like Godzilla could be "Titan-Class", somewhat smaller ones like Kong could be "Goliath-Class", strange ones like the Shinomura could be "Chaos-Class", etc.

That is if your talking about the Brody family. I really hated all those characters. I didn't see them in the cast line up for this movie.
