Chapter 47: Destroy All Monsters! Part II
Joss came too, he looked around to see if everyone was still alive. "Is everyone alright?" He heard the groans of his girlfriends, "Jay Jay you okay?" He first checks up on his girls who only received scratches and bruises but otherwise fine. He slowly made his way to the bus driver seat, "Jay Jay?"
"I'm still alive... just barely" Jay Jay responded.
"Think we can get out of here?" Joss peeks around the bus to see if they were able to drive anywhere but all he sees is darkness.
"Hey there is a light at the end of the tunnel" said one of the girls.
Jay Jay backs up the bus, the front end was worse for wear before driving forward again. The bus slowly speed down the 'tunnel" until they were bombarded with the sun's light. Joss stared out from the back window to see the tunnel was actually the folded wing of a dead rodan. Above it in the background he could see the titans were still fighting each other and a pack of shingodzillans were feeding on the dead rodan carcass. The Bus quickly turned into the next alley were blobs of red biomass filled with spikes, teeth, and eyes now cover the side of the building; slowly digesting it along with anything remaining inside. The eyes react to the bus's movements, fixed on them as if alive. Jay Jay accelerated the bus forward but at each corner more and more of the biomass covered everything.
"Oh my god its everywhere!" cried one of the girls before the bus drove passed the remains of a large tail with maple-leaf dorsal plates dotting its top surface. The biomass seems to be originating from it, the biomass begins to move as it creeps along the street with a mind of its own. Jay Jay quickly drives away from the tail remains as he navigates his way out of the cityscape. There he spots an exit out of the city, in between a crumbled apartment building and a massive wall of seemingly dead charcoal flesh. Once the bus nears the end of the city, the charcoal flesh wall starts to move. Joss looked out of the window and saw a massive eye staring at them and not a merely reactionary like the disembodied eyes, this eye was watching them with a purpose. Soon the eye looked away from the bus as the biomass slowly creeped the remains of its shattered body closer to the eye.
Jay Jay managed to get the bus on an elevated highway, the further they went up the more of the devastated city they see. Massive severed dorsal spikes were creeping along the city as well as severed limps and clumps of flesh. They weren't after the bus, no, they were slowly moving closer to the other kaiju as if drawn to the conflict. The eye of the wall turns its gaze back at the bus before rearing the rest of its head out of the rubble, GYAOOOOOOOONNNNN!!!!!! Shin Godzilla roared angrily, red biomass seeps out of its gills as it slowly slithers its disembodied head around like an eel out of water as the bus flees from its sight. Mothra flew over head, she glanced at the broken remains of Shin Godzilla, she releases an alarming cry before setting her sights on Monster X. Mothra shrieks as she charges up her antennae, Monster X looks up at her, "So the divine moth wishes to challenge me!" Jiyang's voice resonates from Monster X's jaws. "Pitty, I once had the desire to study you, see what makes you tick but now I have a stronger desire to crush your carapace and tear your wings to pieces!" She sends a shockwave into Mothra. Mothra flapped her wings to counter the shockwave with a shockwave of her own. the buildings tremble before collapsing from all the newly formed stress fractures.
Zilla Blue was forced off of Bagan by Chameleon her octopus-headed clone, Zilla Blue charges up her atomic breath but Chameleon suddenly vanishes. Zilla Blue powers down her atomic reserves as she glances around confused. Chameleon charges from the side as she latches her claw-tentacles around Zilla Blue's back before revealing herself to her prey. Zilla Blue begins to charge up her atomic reserve however Chameleon shoves Zilla Blue on her side revealing her true mouth underneath the claw tendrils. Zilla Blue fires her atomic breath at its face however Chameleon shrugs its off like nothing before biting into Zilla's arm. Talon shrieks as he charges towards Chameleon before being side swiped by Bagan into a pile of rubble. Bagan releases more globs of tumerious flesh from its body, the tumors quickly morph into DNA mimics.
The red biomass begins to rapidly spread in the city streets consuming all in its path, people, pets, smaller kaiju like the juvenile Destoroyahs and the larval hedorahs into its own mass. Mothra swooped into firing her own energy beams into Monster X. Monster X counters every beam thrown out her, then mothra fired her beam directly into a near by skscraper. Monster X shields herself from the debris but suddenly Mothra swooped out of the debris cloud to deliver a slash across Monster X's face. Monster X fell to her knees, she reached up to touch her wound only to see blood in the palm of her clawed hand. She howls at the sky as she stares up at Mothra, a pair of wings slowly emerge from her back. She then stands up to flare open her wings but red slimey tendrils shoot out from the debris clouds around Monster X's wrist and ankles. The massive red biomass further increases in size as it swallows more weaker kaiju into its mass. Mothra quickly leaves the fight to assist the injured smaller rodan couple. The two smaller rodans chirp in complaince as Mothra carefully removes the rebar from their wings, she flaps her wings to release her healing dust to aid in their regeneration before flying off.
Talon quickly recovers only to find the red slime slowly enveloping his, Zilla blue, and Chameleon's bodies. The ooze stings their flesh as it slowly begins to digest their hide, Mothra swoops in to release her wing dust on the red ooze. the red ooze slowly releases itself from the three kaiju before creeping away to the city interior. Talon slowly raises himself up, the energy from Mothra's healing dust fills him with renew strength. So he bites into chameleon, the clawed tentacle faced kaiju releases Zilla Blue as both Talon and Chameleon both enter a death roll. Mothra releases the last of healing dust to heal Zilla Blue's wounds before resting. Talon lands his killer claws deep into Chameleon's stomach before kicking the mock-kaiju into the sea of red biomass. Chameleon howls as the red biomass constricts around chameleon's form, soon its howls were silenced. The red biomass fired its tendrils into Legend, Space Godzilla, Destroroyah, Desghidorah, and even the lesser Ghidorahs, slowly the red biomass draws from their strength to boost its primary cluster full of G-Energy.
The red biomass pulls all of itself together into a large gelatinous blob, soon Shin Godzilla's head erupts from the apex of the blob's surface and he is not alone, several clones of Shin Godzilla's tails also emerge from the blob before the rest of the gelatinous biomass starts to take on Shin Godzilla's skin texture. Shin Godzilla powers up his atomic spike batteries before firing his tails into Monster X. "Foul creature, you think you are strong enough to be me?!" she screams at the Shin Godzilla blob. Shin Godzilla stares up at the sky in an taunting manner. Jiyang knew at the moment that Shin Godzilla gained access to her memories. Shin Godzilla roared manically before firing his atomic beams into the atmosphere with all of his tails. Striking at every Xillien starships hovering in orbit.
The Xilliens in panic began to rush to their escape pods but only few managed to escape their impeding doom, the beams cut through their starships like a hot knife through butter, melting their hulls like cheese in a microwave before popping like popcorn as they explode. Shin Godzilla then directed his atomic breath into Monster X. However Jiyang wasn't going to allow herself to die as Monster X, she pulled with all of her might into the ground as she flared out her wings.... Empress Ghidorah she slowly evolved into.... similar to Kaiser Ghidorah but much slimmer. Her humanoid face stretches into a smooth elegant draconic face, her side half-heads soon sprout into a set of complete heads finishing her transformation into a Ghidorah.

I've altered chapter 45, I removed the Shingodzilla and the shingodzilla mutant humans for now and replaced them with the Xillien controlled dinosaur hybrids
I like it! I have a feeling the beard will be a bit longer, but if it still looks somewhat like this, I'm all for it.
Ok thx. The only reason I asked as it’s always confusing, and I hope nobody is offended but I got a bootleg (from a friends friend) of Invasion recently and it is listed as International version. It’s red Menace reconstruction and apparently there is this one and a Monster Zero reconstruct.

I stand corrected. Stuart Galbraith said Toho prepped an international version that was only released theatrically in Great Britain. There was no theatrical or VHS release of this dub in North America.
Not bad. If the beard ends up looking like it does here, then people might be more accepting of it than I thought.

Nah, I do have some new ideas though.
Awesome project, I follow the guy who made it on Flickr. He makes some great stuff.
I do think that it's very unlikely though that it will become a set. A number of Godzilla based lego projects haven't gotten close to the number of votes needed, but who knows maybe this one will.
I used LEGOs as a kid and my parents cursed me when they stepped on them late at night or little pieces got ground up in the vacuum cleaner.
I am talking about the off shoots.
I actually liked the Erector set a little better.

dk: I assume you mean the LEGO movies and the assorted games, not the system itself? The games are just a fun all-ages couch co-op time with some solid visual gags. The theatrical movies do greatly benefit from being familiar with LEGO, but they are plenty solid, expertly animated comedies without that lens.

There is only one English dub for Monster Zero. There are different edits of the English language version, but no international version was recorded by Toho. They use the same Glen Glenn Sound dub from UPA.

Thx. Right sorry, I got confused. Theres an older international dub with the Invasion of the Astro Monsters version and there is a different dub with the Monster Zero version correct?
In fact, I like this LEGO design a lot, I might make it a headcannon Mechagodzilla lol

AIP was originally going to release Monster Zero, but it was actually UPA that did it with dubbing recorded at Glen Glenn Sound. To my knowledge that is the only English dub that exists. AIP/Titra didn't do it.
The dub can be found on various VHS releases, like Simitar, but it's also more easily attainable on the Classic Media's DVD release.
Hi new here. I’ll be picking up a vhs/dvd recorder soon and was wondering if there was ever an VHS of Monster Zero with the aip dub. Anyone?

I only played G:DAMM once. There was a time a few years back where I volunteered at a local summer camp, and wouldn't ya' know it, one of the video games they had was G:DAMM.

I have a Wii, not a GameCube, so I can't play Destroy All Monsters. I'm just speaking from experience, how can I know which is better IF I HAVEN'T PLAYED IT? REEEEEEEEE!

That's just the nature of fandoms, I suppose. The newest thing gets the most scrutiny. I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing, it's only natural.
And in the meantime, I've been taking a look back at the Godzilla films that I actually own, and I've been snatching them up whenever my local Barnes and Nobles puts one on the shelf. I really hope to snag a copy of Mothra vs. Godzilla, and I feel kinda guilty on passing up Godzilla vs. Biollante the last time I saw it. But I definitely want to watch Mothra vs. Godzilla again; it's been years since I last saw it, and I remember it with nothing but fondness.
I think the Monsterverse is a fine midpoint in the series quality-wise. Sure none of them make my top 10 or anything, and my favorite entry so far doesn't even have Godzilla in it, but I also think there's plenty of G-movies I wouldn't choose to watch instead of them.
I really appreciate the interest for the series it's generated though. We had 3 different timeline coming out concurrently, and it's amazing to be in a franchise that has that many outlets for stories and interest in different avenues. So I can't really dislike them too much.

So much this. There's so many movies to explore and so much that's still being mined for information over. It seems like a vocal core are obsessing over 2-3 movies when there's 30+ others worth exploring, watching and discussing despite how old they are.
Hell there's many on this very board who have yet to see many of them--And they're readily available.
So far, I really like what the Monsterverse has done, and if it continues, I'll be interested in what else it will bring. However, certain studios and directors have now gained a lack of originality, and if Legendary cannot come up with new ideas, then I do not think the Monsterverse should continue.
One of the thrills of watching any movie is being able to experience something new, something you don't get to experience every day. I'm hoping that GvK will bring something new to the table, and if it is the last movie in this universe, I can easily move on and look foreward to Toho's mentioned cinematic universe. Until that starts happening, there are over thirty films from Toho that we can go back to. The patience that helped G fans through a decade of absence can be the same patience that will hold them until the next film, whatever or whenever it is.
I get that Godzilla is only just reawakening from a ten year hiatus and that this has sparked some real hype and excitement, and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just thankful that I get to look forward to any Godzilla films, weather it be more of the Monsterverse or the Japanese movies.
Honestly, the excess amount of fantasized hype is one of the things that's probably turned me off to the Monsterverse. Now that we know what it is, by and large, I don't have a whole lot of invested interest in it continuing or revisiting it. It's mostly just retreading things we've seen before. I go back to Toho's Shin Godzilla and Polygon's anime trilogy far more than Legendary's stuff.
That said, I remain optimistic about GvK, as with every new production. But I would be perfectly content with it being the end. Nothing against those who enjoy the Monsterverse--I'm certainly glad they have it and I'm even more happy it's made new fans. But I can't wait to see what Toho ends up doing next. I'm far more eager to see what's next in the franchise and for Toho to take the reins back.
In the meantime, other kaiju fare has taken up my attention--Particularly Ultraman.
JurassicKaiju14 It's a good movie and it is understandable if you aren't a Kong fan. It shows Kong as a character. It should make GvK more enjoyable imo. I am not a big Kong fan either but I enjoyed the movie. BTW, I wasn't a fan of 2014 but bought and watched it out of a sense of duty lol!

I'm just not really the biggest Kong fan. I know the gist of the story, I've seen some of the fight scenes, and I have seen the end credits sequence (it was awesome, BTW, really added to KOTM's hype :) ), but I guess I've just never felt interested in seeing it.

There is a lot to unpack there and you make some great points. I'm afraid I have to ramble a bit too.
As an Alien fan- we went- and still go way deep in the weeds on that forum and the build up to the last movie was pretty tense. It delved deep into actual science and serious philosophy, trolls were being banned, fan fiction was being written and shared and silly games and contests were concocted to fill time and keep members engaged and excited......I am trying to say that I understand the passion. Moving on.
You make a good point about keeping the list of monsters in check. Personally, I want to see what the moniker states- GvK- and maybe a couple supporting monsters. Too many monsters would dilute the main characters and could just cause confusion to casual fans imo. There are monsters I haven't seen and would wonder why I should root for it or not etc...
As for the ending to the MV, a soft ending might not be a bad idea- lots of movies leave a "what's next" vibe at the end. Personally, I would like to see a hard definitive end but I don't think that will happen.
I never get hopes high for G movies and maybe that's why I am usually satisfied for the most part. I got hopes way high for the Alien prequels and felt woefully let down.
Though I wish success for both franchises, I think if they got too much mass appeal, they would lose something somehow (I am thinking Di$ney or Superhero retreads). They should stay as far away as possible from Hollywood imo.
As for fandom debates- let it ride! We can always enter or opt out of discussions. It's great to see all the different levels of fans. For instance, I don't follow JP but think it's great that it has a large and passionate fanbase that can share their passion.

Would you prefer a theme, or characteristic ,maybe a variety of some kind?
I think you have the some of the best of the best with 54, Monster Zero, Terror of Mechagodzilla, Godzilla vs Biollante, and GMK.
