I don't think Godzilla is that territorial. He doesn't care about the island as he does for the balance.
So I think if they clash, they'll do over something else, what is put between them via humans (#WhatASurpriseHumanDoesSomethingStupidAgain)!
And Kong will win the battle, there is no way around this. Godzilla won the last two movies, so he will have to pass his crown.
Cheerio, Vin
Also aid like to point out that amoral isn’t evil
Jurassickaiju I’m just joking around
Gmkgoji: I was hoping to watch the AXZ OVAs first, but they're proving very hard to track down online, so I'll probably start tomorrow.
Titan of Water "I know I must have upset a lot of G-Fans, but that honestly kinda makes me happy getting the Godzilla worshipers panties in a twist."
I hope you realize just how trollish this kind of statement makes you sound. But given your ending banner, you probably already do.
dk "I don't think Godzilla is amoral. Godzilla is more about keeping balance globally whereas Kong seeks the same thing locally."
Exactly.
Despite me liking Godzilla more than Kong, I agree with you that Kong should win, not only because he deserves to, but because it would also develope the MonsterVerse story wise.
However, I think that saying he'll lose due to his disadvantage in power is a false statement. This is actually an argument G fans constantly use against Kong rooters that I've never liked (that Godzilla should win because he's more powerful). Power ≠ the right to win. That's like saying any underdog protagonist shouldn't defeat the antagonist because they are weaker. Now I'm not saying Godzilla's going to be the antagonist in GvK, but it's the same mind set. And like (most) Godzilla movies, the underdog finds a way to come on top.
Also, like dk said, I don't consider Godzilla to be amoral at all. He fully realizes the impact his deeds have on the world, and his intentions aren't so much about power as they are about maintaining balance. However, I do agree that his "great cause" for earth will get in the way of Kong's rights to his own home.
I think I understand your points but have to disagree a bit.
I do agree that Kong wants to be left alone on his Island, but the Monsterverse movies point to it being the place where major stuff will go down. And it's no fault to Kong.
I don't think Godzilla is amoral. Godzilla is more about keeping balance globally whereas Kong seeks the same thing locally.
For instance, people in New York or Melborne might not even know about Kong, but when the rubber meets the road, EVERYBODY knows who Godzilla is.
I think it will be a brutal fight but ultimately end in a draw. Neither creature has good reason to hate one another. Kong wants his space to be at peace and Godzilla wants the world to be at peace.
Gomi: Ninja Monster Nice. When are you going to watch XV?
It's way expensive, but considering the size, detail and lighting, it is probably worth it.
The level of detail in this is insane!
From what I see in the third picture, the light effects in his necks look amazing. They could do something like that with Godzilla's spines and Mothra & Rodan's wings.
"Is This The Greatest Ghidorah Collectible Ever?"
Yes. Yes it is.
Can't wait for them to do Rodan, Mothra, and Godzilla.
Good gravy. I don't even need to own this, I'd pay just to see it in person, that looks incredible.
Gmkgoji:
Oh, I finished AXZ recently. Was good.
Does anyone know if you can get this on Xbox? I am a huge ass G-fan and I need that game. I had it on my PS3 it got a virus. please let me know.
That got to be one of the best images I've seen. Design, point of view, shading, yeah that's a winner.
well the monsterverse godzilla movies rely heavily on CGI for both monsters and destruction effects and CGI is expensive hence why they cut to humans after showing a snippet of kaiju action. Also CGI works better in night scenes rather than in broad day light scenes.
This wasn't the case for the tokusatsu godzilla where they used a man in a suit hence why godzilla took place primarily during the day.
I am totally with you guys.
But the problem with both Godzilla movies were the TOO MUCH HUMAN INTERACTION.
I also have a problem with the unclear and unfinished fight sequences between the monsters: They always fight nights and as soon it got interesting they cut to humans.
I am not saying NO Human Interaction or Human Driven story. But if I watch a Godzilla movie I would like to see the presence of Godzilla and co.
I like human driven movies assuming the characters are good and having interesting. Having engaging characters has been a solid weakness of the 2 monsterverse Godzilla movies imo, so I hope they do better in GvK
Well as much as I want a kaiju driven flick, but the majority of movie go-ers want to see humans getting in on the action rather than leaving the world's fate up to a kaiju radioactive dinosauromorph, a volcanic pterosaur, a majestic divine moth, and a guardian ape.
However the majority Godzilla franchise have always been human driven, examples:
Gojira (1954): The whole plot centered around a paleontologist trying to identify Godzilla, his daughter and her boyfriend a JSDF officer, and Dr. Daisuke Serizawa being convince by the JSDF officer to use the Oxygen destroyer against Godzilla to save japan. Special mentioning go to the average Japanese citizens dealing with godzilla's rampage.
Mothra (1960): Centers around several journalists and a greedy CEO who travel to infant island to investigate the strange anomaly of a thriving forest on a other wise heavily radioactive island. Corpoartion suits exploits the island by kidnapping the shobijins fairies, forcing them to be entertainers. In their distress, they summon Mothra through a song to rescue them. Which the journalists must find a way to rescue the shobijins before Mothra destroys Tokyo and Rosuland.
Most of the Showa is kaiju driven with a few notable examples like Terror of Mechagodzilla.
From what I can remember the Heisei series of Godzilla was very human orientated with them developing Mechagodzilla, having a character that can communicate to kaiju, and even time traveling humans that created both King Ghidorah and Mecha-King Ghidorah.
Godzilla (1998): Centers around a radiologist, his journalist ex-girlfriend, a camera man, some french guys, and briefly the mayor of manhattan. Team up to stop Godzilla.
I need to watch the Millennium series, so no examples here.
Godzilla (2014): Centers around a young military man trying to get back to his wife and son while trying to survive through a kaiju fight.
Shin-Godzilla (2016): Haven't watched it yet but from what I hear its mainly about Japanese bureaucracy while in amidst of a kaiju attack
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019): Eco-terrorists and a turn-coat Monarch agent free king Ghidorah from his icy prison. Humans cripple Godzilla, allowing Ghidorah to become Earth's new Alpha. Humans having to resuscitate Godzilla via a nuclear bomb to save earth from being xenoformed by King Ghidorah. Humans distracts King Ghidorah so Godzilla and Mothra could have a fighting chance.
Destroyah in the Monsterverse would be epic, but not in GvK. That movie belongs Godzilla & Kong and Godzilla & Kong alone. Destroyah is a show stealer, and I think it would be best if he could steal the show in a movie revolving around him and Godzilla.
I want to see the red spiral ray at some point
I've been a fan of monsters since I was a little kid. I guess it's the fun aspects of watching large beasts wreck everything and use their abilities to take their foes down. A creepypasta actually helped me build hype for Godzilla: King of the Monsters when I heard about the sequel. (It is NES Godzilla if anyone's wondering.)
1. YES
2. It is confirmed, that other titans will also be a part of the movie.
We hope Legendary can have the rights to Destroyah to complete the Godzilla Mosterverse trilogy.
Love the two '54 posters.
really only read awakening, aftershock and KOM novelization as an audiobook. I am a big fanboy so there all enjoyable for me however the comics expand the Monsterverse, and with aftershock you learn why the big G is the last of his kind. With the novelization of KOM you get glimpses of just what happened with some of the monarch containment facilities, and given its a audio book you can listen to it well doing other stuff.
Caught Somewhere In Time
Venomized Godzilla
The only four I don’t have is the graphic novel for KOTM and KSI, and the art of making for Kong:Skull Island and Godzilla (2014) but the rest are really good, in my opinion.
I really enjoyed looking at these merchandise. I don’t know if this is related or not but I found Godzilla stuff at Epcot and now have a shirt that says:Godzilla World Destruction Tour. All the Godzilla merchandise at Epcot was really cool.
Also there was or still is an Instagram challenge of Team Godzilla vs Team Kong and I saw the trailer for it on YouTube
Hmm…I’m not sure who I’m rooting for. I went to Universal Studios Orlando and rode ”Skull Island: Reign of Kong” and I’m like torn between both. I guess we’ll have to wait to see the trailer(hopefully it comes out soon) and the movie.
I’m with you guys
