I like the kotm theme better
Iffy. Right along with the Kong theme on You Tube.
Have to wait and see how it plays out on film.
I would like to see a mothra standalone film were she fights battra in ancient times. and maybe in thaer final battle at godzillas castle or something battra will kill of anguirus explaining the anguirus skeloten in kotm
Yes we know and people don't like when you do that because it makes you look like a purist, no offense. Pointing out that the MonsterVerse doesn't live up to Toho's films may cause newer fans to be turned off from ever viewing the older movies, just saying.
Xenotaris,
Not bitter at all over other's opinions of it. I just find it incredibly over hyped and unable to live up to past films' standards. It's just when I point that out, people get huffy.
Man... if the music for the whole movie is going to sound like this.. I wonder how it's going to sound for the scenes with a whole bunch of action. Hopefully the music for the whole movie won't be this low.
Really wondering what Mechagodzilla's theme is going to sound like now.
Gman is very bitter over this series and people's opinions of the series
anime in general is alright, you shouldn't knock anime because of the rift-raft series just involves bouncy TNA. Also I'm a MonsterVerse fan as well but I'm excited for this new anime however I don't like the human character designs nor their names that much since I prefer anime styles of the 80's, 90's and early 00's but that's the anime fan in me talking
yes 2014 Godzilla characters should have returned for KOTM
I have my gripes but I love King of the Monsters
SarcasticGoji,
Yup. You can hear that portion of the theme in King Kong vs. Godzilla, Mothra vs. Godzilla, a variation of it in Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster, Invasion of Astro-Monster, Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla vs. Gigan (stock music), Godzilla vs. Biollante (stock music), Godzilla vs. Mothra '92, Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II, Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (stock music), Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, Godzilla x Megaguirus (stock music) and of course Shin Godzilla (stock music)
Oh, I never noticed that! Thanks for sharing that with me.
I enjoy that too. Generally, that portion of the theme is still heard with the more popular motif Ifukube came up with in 1962. I like it too. You can still hear a variation of it in latter movies. For example, it appears as an extension of Ifukube's 1962 theme at the 1:21 mark in this cue from Mothra vs. Godzilla: Godzilla Raids Nagoya
I wish McCreary had included that portion in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but his score for that movie was so stellar I didn't miss it either.
This however... Yuck.
My favorite Godzilla theme is this tho,
It’s trying to be like the first one, but I listened to it and instead of following any musical pattern it just seems to be note played randomly, The minor and major scales are all over the place so I can’t tell if Godzilla should be menacing or Not.
I enjoy the GMK theme too
SarcasticGoji,
That's largely my problem. It's almost like they decided not to pay the licensing fees to use Ifukube's theme again, so they hired Holkenborg to write a low-rent knockoff with fewer instruments.
If he was going to write a new Godzilla theme it didn't have to be an Ifukube knockoff. There's plenty of great Godzilla themes that don't try to sound like Ifukube. For example:
Michiru Oshima's Godzilla Theme
Koh Otani's Godzilla Theme (I love this one)
Hell, Desplat's theme from the 2014 movie was more memorable, original and exciting.
This just feels cheap...
Literally too lazy to rewrite my comment, I just started relistening halfway
Why? I enjoyed it. It wasn’t the actual Godzilla theme but was reminiscent of the Beginning of the actual one. I don’t like the second part of this theme though. Hmmm.... actually I’m relistening, it’s not that great it’s ok for me though. Can we just use KOTM theme for Goji instead?
Wow...
That was truly, truly terrible.
Add more titans and they can continue
Monarch is a very interesting story, but it shouldn’t just be Goji and Kong. A varan movie would be cool, or even original kaiju
I actually prefer the kotm novelization to the movie for some reason
This is an epic poster.
But not by much the other ones have been awesome too.
Varan would be fine
I want a Varan movie.
Well, many in Canada (meaning ME) are out of luck. No theatres open within a 5 hour drive, and no HBOMAX.
Hopefully, Amazon Prime Canada will carry it like they did WW84, but they're not announcing it at this time.
Otherwise, I'll wait to read the novelization then watch for the DVD.
Finally! An excellent poster. By far the best one and it's not even close.
How about him going missing huh and it being implied he’s dead when he isn’t?
sonictiger,
The thing is Toho has shot down doing the resurrection bit before. When Sony tried to do a sequel to Godzilla 2000 called Godzilla Reborn, the screenplay included Godzilla being killed and later resurrected. Toho liked everything, but mandated Godzilla could not be killed. So they changed it to Godzilla being severely injured.
It sounds like Toho's pretty specific about other studios not killing Godzilla.
Resurrection buddy. Or goji goes missing and is presumed dead. Those methods could work.
On the topic of Godzilla not being killed, Talent House has teamed up with Warner Brothers to pick marketing submissions from fans.
However, there's a lot of mandates on Godzilla that sound like Toho stipulations. If WB is enforcing this, then I find it likely they would have to abide by these rules as well:
I think the monarch story is interesting though. And for the last time GVK is not the way to end the franchise
I'm fine with it continuing as long as A) Toho, or other Japanese studios, gets to do more on their end and B) the Monsterverse starts doing something interesting. Up to this point it hasn't really done much that other Godzilla movies haven't done better already.
Frankly, I think a Godzilla vs. Kong battle is a perfectly sound conclusion and would be fine if it ended there. I'm much more interested in what Toho or other Japanese studios (Polygon, Bones, Orange) have in store in the future since they've been far more experimental as of late.
They never said anything about killing Goji in the contract.
But they would have to renew contracts, but Warner brothers might prevent them again
Because in a sense, they would be competitors
Geez, that would suck.
