Listen, I know that most of us are going to want a sequel, but we should wait to see how the movie turns out! I mean, what if Godzilla 2014 turns out to be just like 1998!
in the last scene of the trailer with all the dust and big G turns and roars, as the camera tilts up along his spine you have a pretty clear size comparison of his tallest spike from the buildings on the left. i came to an estimation of 6 stories or 18 metres. i then took that measure and using the most closely looking sillouette image i could find, i was able to get an estimate of around 150 mtrs or 465 ft.
Those are PICTURES, not footage. They are also fan art, not official pictures.
Godzilla can take damage, but I can also say without a doubt that this Godzilla will be just as invincible as the Toho Godzilla. Gareth himself said that Godzilla is supposed to be an indestructible force of nature. Can you kill a hurricane? Nope. Godzilla could be blown to bits (GMK) and he would still survive. If this is staying true to Godzilla's character, then we won't be able to rid ourselves of Godzilla unless we have an oxygen destroyer, and if you look at the size of this Godzilla... that's not going to kill him, and even if it did, you would vaporize the whole ocean by doing so.
@Whoever was above me. In most reboots, yes, but the particular director of this movie cares a lot about the source material. Either way, we won't know until the movie comes out.
Keep in mind that this movie is a reboot, so Serizawa may not even HAVE an eyepatch. I also speculate that he might be a "modern-day" Serizawa, meaning he is not from 1954.
This is all educated guesses here, I have no clue. However, I hope we see him lose/injure his eye, and to see him wear the iconic eyepatch! :D
This is such a fun site! :D Thanks for the link!
OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD IT IS THERE OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH GGGGGGOOOODDD
totes mcgotes this better be worth it
@KING GODZILLA24.7 - This is a reboot, and Regenerator G-1, as well as all other previously understood Godzilla traits save for his atomic breath are being completely redone and in some cases likely even done away with completely. In a reboot, all previous content and continuity is ignored to create something new. We cannot assume that Regenerator G-1 is going to be in this story. At least not the way we remember it.
@STARHUNTERNEBULAM - There is no evidence or proof that Godzilla was in any way weakened in Mothra vs. Godzilla when the tension wires were dropped on him. There is no evidence or proof that he could have been killed at that time either nor that there was any kind of "power drain" going on at all. i don't know where you got that idea, but your information is horribly inaccurate and based solely on opinion and misobservation.
But in regards to a damaged Godzilla, it's entirely possible that either a well placed weapon shot or one of the other MUTO monsters could damage him. Godzilla may be highly resilient, but he's always still been a mortal creature capable of dying.
Not of equal status?, shoot, most of GoJis's aponents were previously unknown. And do you think Ebera or Kumonga are somhow tougher than Gamera?
Gameras fire breath is weak and he never kills a single fule sized oponant with it in theold movies but, a bodyslam from space or a mock 7 batting ram is another situation all together. That earthpowered belly blast against liegon is also awsom.
If you watch carefully one the original Godzilla, he clearly seems either annoyed or actually gets some damage from the jet fighter scene were he retreats back into the ocean, now this just could be he was going back anyway or the jets forced him too. Also in Mothra Vs Godzilla the high tension wire scene were they dropped nets on Godzilla and used the towers to electricute him he clearly was getting weaker and they could have killed him but the power drain was to high and over heated the power system. Also he was damaged during his fight with Kiru in Godzilla X Mechagodzilla While this is a reboot he may suffer some kind of damage.
4. the only way godzilla even could exist is by defying the science altogether
5. godzilla never really stops getting stronger so depending on wich version you refer too(showa heisi and mellenium are all abit different as far as this goes) he has pretty much unlimited potential
6. the only thing that truly holds godzilla back is his intelligence or lack thereof
1. godzilla never stays down
2. in g vs megagirus even a black hole didn't kill him
3. mankind can never rid themselves of godzilla, he can be slowed down and you can get in his way, but in the end, godzilla will outlast whatever hes up against
Well Godzilla is not going too die in the movie just because he,s damged like all the Godzilla,s don,t die in the movies so this One will not i Dont care if it doesn,t have Generator G1 he still Godzilla still strong imprevous too weapons even nukes and also can finish the monster so the second monster should give Godzilla hard time too fight the Mutos would be much more easy duh too there small size and also Godzilla will never die EVER! well maybe that one time he died in destroyah but still G FANS THE KING WILL NEVER DIE!!! EVER! and also Godzilla could regenrate by lighting that all we,s work

@**AL** The damaged Godzilla is just a named type of figure included in one of the toy pack-things (I didnt know what to call it) sadly no pictures or any other sort of description. I just thought it was a little odd how they wanted to specifically have a damaged version of Godzilla, making me wonder if the bomb was significant. But it might just be battle damage, like how the company who made the Pacific Rim figures had a normal Gypsy Danger and a battle damaged version.
These points are all really good! I agree with @RR44 , there should definately be a sequel. Definately.
@GODZILLASYLUM I agree. In order for such a creature of that immense size to be able to exist with its given proportions, without any need of conventional sustenance, and being able to produce exotic effects such as the atomic breath, the normal components that build up a normal biological organism must be replaced and restructured from thousands or even millions of years of nuclear radiation post-death of the original creature. This process would also produce a near perfect energy conversion for the new radioactively-spawned "living fossil", allowing it to utilize a near 100% efficient nuclear energy system, replacing the reliance on food, water, or even air. Afterwards, an immense elemental replacement and density increase at a molecular level of the underlying physical structures like muscles, bones, organs, and skin will create a strengthened structure that has almost no natural limits to physical growth and size of the organism due to the core mutation of the cells themselves to support a nearly unlimited mass with near limitless potential. This is how Godzilla, or really any Kaiju, can exist.
There is absolutely no similarity between the three pictures. The first one is a sculpt (and not a 100% accurate one) of the 2000 design. The middle one is fan art, as DURATOK stated. And the third is an official still from the trailer.
Nothing in common save that some incarnation of Godzilla is seen in each.
Is that the similarity you were going for? That they all contained some kind of Godzilla design? If it is, then yes, we see it just fine. If it wasn't, then you must enlighten us as to what exactly you're looking for because there's nothing there for us to see beyond different interpretations of Godzilla.
If you want to know what Godzilla's final design is going to look like, watch the Godzilla encounter footage again if you can find it. Or, watch the official trailer again. There is no similarity between the Godzilla from the trailer and the previous two images that you're displaying for us now save for a general shape and the fact that the name of the creature is the same.
The first one has Godzilla standing nearly perfectly upright with a slender neck and head and a triangular shaped body (thick lower to tiny upper). The second one is a very reptillian and almost mammalian take on Godzilla with rather poorly depicted teeth and a cobra hood-like neck (which I hate). The overall design is FAR too thin and much closer to Zilla than most fans want to believe. But if you look at it long enough and replace the head the similarity is quite obvious.
The third image of Godzilla from the trailer shows a creature with a very thick neck and a skull that sort of just leads right into it. Godzilla in the official trailer is also much bulkier overall than either of the previous two designs. We don't know yet exactly what his feet will look like, but if they're anything like the comic con sculptures then they'll more resemble an elephant's legs and feet than either of the other two images. Godzilla's spines are different in all three deisgns and share no similarities whatsoever.
So what were you trying to see? If you think you see something, then you might want to check and double check again because there is nothing between them that is "clearly" visible or so obvious that you can just as us "anyone else see it?"
I loved it, wasn't perfect but was a great entry in the series. One of my favorite Godzilla designs, I LOVED the huge dorsal fins. Not the toned down version used in 2002/2003. Orga was a great kaiju, one of my favorite one hit wonders along with Hedorah and Biollante. That's Toho general problem of rehashing old villians instead of creating new ones. I generally prefer a more realistic JSDF, in other words no super weapons and maser cannons. The idea of a Godzilla Predection Network was fantastic, as we have similar real groups that track tornados. The characters in the film are among my all time favorites, and last but not least it's the first and only Japanese Godzilla film I've gotten to see in theaters.
Thanks guys! I have to give credit where it is due so my thanks goes to Damien over at Universe G on Youtube, his channel is worth checking out for sure. I hope that this website continues to become more interactive as the viral marketing campaign continues and draws closer and closer to May 16th.
@RR44 I've been a Godzilla addict since tiem began! But you do have a good theory but even though you said weapons in a well placed spot would be able to kill Godzilla realistically speaking, we just dont know if it would. Because think about it, he's been mutated by radiation to an extreme extent, his body and inner workings having never ever been seen before ever. So his body might have mutated into such a way where it actually created his body tougher then anything of this earth, perhaps even making his hide and inner organs out of a material so tough and strong that it may be even a new element. So we just wouldn't know if conventional weaponary could infact kill Godzilla at all, because it's never been seen before.
Maybe Godzilla needs more time to regenerate in this movie but also that could make it stronger; so is a curious and good question.
@Dr.Schrodinger; I would to know more about that ¨damaged¨ godzilla toys please.
haha.. I saw the Jets but I didnt realize it was me with the keyboard---
Godzilla vs. Destroyah is my favroite. Only because it makes me cry at the end every time!
Is it possible to throw Godzilla into another dimension of Earth? I mean, we COULD use the quantum world that teleports Godzilla from the original Earth to the other Earth dimension that didn't exist in the original one. Two Earths collide into a monstrosity of ripping time, space, matter, and dimensions. What do you think?
Hi Kasm69101, we got a similar post later with a description of the video in the headline.. If you feel like it here we are discussing the toho godzila's website-
^^ thanks for the news.
Hopefully. You have a great point there.
howd you get the city?
This is awesome! Thanks for posting this up! Also, thanks @True American Godzilla, thanks for posting keyboard shortcuts!
FINALLY! someone remembers marvels godzilla!
it would be a bit dumb to try and make godzilla belivable, it just doesn't work. whats smarter, and what i thinck they are doing, would be to make the human reaction and response realistic.
I agree with Duratok; this is a reboot. So this Goji is going to be different, yet similar to the past Godzilla's. He may not have Regenerator G1, but he is going to be very strong, and tough!
