MemberMothra LarvaeDec-21-2013 10:26 PMConsidering that there will be other monsters in this movie besides Big G..How do you pictrue him fighting? Especially if there happens to be another his size..In recent movies, how he fought(Although I loved it) was so cheesy and not even close to any realism lol. After viewing the trailer, It it obvious that this will be the MOST realistic version of Godzilla himself, let alone the BIGGEST.(YES I KNOW, I'm trying to fuse "realism" with a giant radioactive lizard). Anyway, I do NOT picture him slapping, punching, or kicking and all that nonsense..He is a ANIMAL. He is huge. And his movement is huge. If you watch the trailer, in the scene while the soldiers are free-falling and you see Godzilla, he moves very different compared to his older versions. In the older movies, Godzilla moved with a heavy stomping and a side-to-side sway. In this scene from the trailer, he looks as if he is DRAGGING himslef because he is so damn big(I love that btw). So Im trying to imagine how he'd defend himself besides using the atomic breath. Your thoughts?

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-21-2013 11:08 PMI had a theory, that this new Godzilla, as big and imposing as he is, will move much like a serpent. He will be slow and lumbering side to side, not like his original waddle, more like a side to side serpent. When it comes time to fight, I feel like the physical portion will be more like strikes. When Godzilla approaches an enemy, such as a MUTO, he will brace for a striking position, and when time permits, he will strike hard and fast. He will lightly bite quite a bit and use his arms as grappling. There will not be any punching, but slashing is not out of the question. He may use his tail too, but not how he generally does. In the old TOHO films, he would often have to do a 360 to use his tail or he turned around and swiped his tail. In this film, I believe he will be able to swipe quickly and precisely from any postion (this new fighting advantage is also due to him being full CG). Outside of striking, I think this new Godzilla will stick to being slow and conservative.
Atomic breath, that is a wild card. We know he will use it, but not how. I don't think he'll use it alot, (I have a feeling it will be an extremely powerful weapon. Instant kill stuff). He'll use it in do or die situations. If this new Godzilla is realistic, atomic breath might be a special attack. It won't be a one off, but something that requires time to recharge. Shooting a flowing blast of atomic energy that is hotter than the sun will take a tole on your body, even if your Godzilla. I also believe that when he does use it, it won't last long either. It will only last for a few seconds. Maybe shorter.
If realisim is what the director is going for, than I think that kind of covers it. That's just me talking. What do you think?

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-21-2013 11:09 PMHe could whack the monsters with his tail, FWACK! Maybe he could sit on the monsters.
FOR SCIENCE OF COURSE!

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-21-2013 11:22 PMI would like to see him fighting with a boxing style, kind of, hitting monsters in the face with his fists.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-21-2013 11:39 PM@JMAC15, I can only HOPE that this Godzilla fights like that! What you stated is so believable I can picture it. And it fits this Godzilla so well. I love your ideas. And yes, the atomic breath should be hardly shown in this movie for it should be so powerful it vaparizes whatever it touches. Godzilla SHOULD only be using it in a serious situation(For him at least).

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-21-2013 11:58 PM@AKIO123 Thanks! I've just obeserved enough of his design, which has lead to this theory. I don't know why, but the whole serpent-like movement seems to go quite well with his new form. This new Godzilla is like a slow walking apocalypse. He just moves fast when needed.
What also made me think of this movement is the original Beargoji model from the Encounter. His neck, from a front view reminded me of a king cobra (https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&docid=S8Q3Jlq9vematM&tbnid=IwvFoiZhrnVvvM:&ved=0CAUQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.superherohype.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D461591%26page%3D27&ei=mX62Uo3TKYWFyQH8g4H4Dg&bvm=bv.58187178,d.aWc&psig=AFQjCNHDIsuoTPcvGNBFK4PZOg6pJyKLiw&ust=1387778068847589).
But the new and confirmed model for Godzilla will look more like the hidden maqeutte model. (With a more rounded head and slightly thicker body). I know people don't like this design, but I'm very postive we're getting a more refined version of this design other than Beargoji. Or, I guess it could be said the current design is a hybrid of the two.
Anyways, thaks for the compliment on my theory.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-22-2013 8:42 AM@JMAC15: I agree with most of what you've stated in your theory, especially about the atomic breath. I can't see a weapon like that being used on a frequent basis; it's too powerful, would take a definite physical toll, and would likely need a recharge time. Also, I agree on the biting: this is an animal, a gigantic one, but an animal nonetheless, and would fight another creature that way...

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-22-2013 10:17 PM@JMAC15 - Godzilla's thermonuclear breath is not "hotter than the sun." If it were, it would be an instant vaporization of anything caught in its path. The sun's core is almost 24.5 million degrees fahrenheit, and its surface is approximately 9,944 degrees. Any and all monsters/machines/buildings caught in the wake of such temperatures would be instantly vaporized or melted. If it was hotter than the sun, not a single enemy Godzilla had ever faced would have been able to withstand it, let alone take multiple blasts of it. You should review your understanding of what his thermonuclear breath is and how it works. It's just a concentrated beam of radiation. Hot? Yes. Hotter than the sun? Not even close.
Anyway, on the subject of how he'll fight.
Godzilla, being as large and bulky as he is in this incarnation, will likely be relying on close quarters swipes with his hands, stomps and short kicks (and I mean short) with his feet, and tail whips against enemies directly behind him. Given how bulky he is, moving fast enough to strike at anything in any direction with his tail, let alone a quick 360, is not going to be possible. He's just too big and too bulky this time to pull that off. The MUTOs would see it coming from a mile away and it would never hit its mark.
His tail might not even get time as a weapon in this movie, as it didn't make it as a weapon until King Kong vs. Godzilla when it became long enough to fit the role. This new version seems to have gone back to the original tail with a shorter and stouter design which was meant more for balance than anything else. I doubt it will be used as a weapon this time given how short it is in the official poster.
As far as his nuclear breath is concerned, I have no answers. I'm not an expert in nuclear physics or how nuclear power is made, maintained, or used, so any input I have is based purely on experience with Godzilla and not on realistic happenings with nuclear power. However, I don't believe it will be quite as much of a special attack or a supercharged attack so much as it is another of Godzilla's weapons. Never in Godzilla's history did his nuclear breath require a recharge time, and I doubt that it will change anytime soon. His breath will likely be his primary weapon for anything out of arms reach, and I doubt very much that it will require a recharge time or receive any kind of supercharged treatment compared to what it used to be.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-23-2013 1:25 AM@KYERO, Solid points sir! I guess I was so stuck on this subject because well, I personally wanna see a new way of fighting with this Godzilla in comparison to the others. Especially since this one is talking a more, "Real life approach" besides a "Fantasic" one. I just don't see him punching and slapping or kicking and 360 tail whipping like he use to. I love all that, but c'mon..that's kinda silly lol especially now. We won't know until the movie, but I picture lots of biting, slashing, and full body strikes, like the way a bear shoves with its body. Or how an elephant uses its full self to push. And maybe even grabbing. then again, I could be 100% off.

Smaug The Magnificent
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-23-2013 5:19 AMHow I imagine his fighting style:
His tail shoud be quite long for a creature of that size, I dont know how much you guys know about austraila, but over here we have a lizard know as a goanna and Its main attack is useing its tail as a whip. So yeah imagine getting punded in the face by a tail the whith of a house.
The bite force of a creature that size would be emence! moar than enough to crack a MUTO skull...
Tail Whip+Bite attack=dead
anything+atomic breath=dead
I Believe In Harvey Dent
