I would actually really like to see Varan make a comeback. I don't care what anyone says, he's a badass monster goddammit, and I want to see him in more movies and fighting other monsters. Besides him, I maybe want to see Anguirus, Rodan, and possibly Mothra. Only the ones that aren't too fantastical have a chance of being in this new franchise. Like, they may have King Ghidorah in the reboot sequels(if they even have a chance of being made) but he probably won't be a dragon from space.
I hope he moves like a bear. No, I don't mean I hope he moves on all fours, I mean that I hope he moves slowly and intimidatingly for most of the movie. And then for the fight scenes, he'll have these short bursts of running or charging at his opponent.
godzilla's going to be slow, i gurantee it
Sorry, I'm sure there's a way to actually tag your names but I'm new to this site and have no idea how
I agree with you HEDORAHTHEEXPLORAH I love Titanosaurus and seeing him updated would be great! Also thank you GODKILLA2000 I was hoping this would be a cool topic (: Gamera really does deserve a reboot. I personally would love to see Spacegodzilla or Hedorah come back. So let's hope this movie is the hit the big G deserves and we start seeing more Kaiju in the big screen
They'd better ramp up marketing, and fast!
Domestic: 140-250 million. 3D sales, along with an aging (people taking their kids/grandkids) and avid fan base will do most of the work. If it's marketed well, it will see the top end on this.
Worldwide total: Around 360-550 million. Again, depends on marketing. I can't see this movie being a flop, but a moderate success seems likely. I know I will be doing my part.
With a budget of 160 million, it's probably going to need a little over twice that to warrent a sequel.
P.S. I really hope I'm wrong, and it blows my expectations out of the water.
He never said he was directing one. He simply stated that he'd like too. It will DEFINETELY not ever happen if this movie doesn't become a hit. Which is very possible that it'll be a shadow amongst the other movies. Who knows. Besides all that, I would like to see a modern creation of the earthly organic Godzilla enemies. None of that space/alien/robot stuff.
Godzilla 64% yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Slow but i hope the movie does not go fast
DRAGONLORD TEVIN, while an 800 Million dollar haul would be really amazing, I don't think the film will even come close to that high a gross. Godzilla's image was ruined by America back in 98, and also, that film was marketed like CRAZY. It still didn't do well. I'm trying to think realistically here, 500 Million is what I see as max.
^Actually I think a lot of the votes on there are some of the most level headed opinions I've seen.
Well im just gonna guess worldwide all time;
Godzilla will probably make more money in Japan of course, cuz of since its sooo popular over there right now, but in America, it depends on how many good advertisements it gets and all those stuff to make people unfamiliar to Godzilla to wanna go watch it.
So finally, and its my guess and study, cuz right now im looking at the all time worldwide box office, that by the time its not in theathers anymore, its probably gonna come somewhere at the 40THS PLACE, and will make probably about $800 MILLION DOLLARS.
I can't believe this is something that's being speculated. Really?
It was confirmed a long time ago that Vancouver was where part of the San Fransisco set is. Godzilla will no be attacking Vancouver in the movie. They even had San Fransisco signs and police cars at the Vancouver set.
Noooo I want Godzilla to win but I believe Mockingjay will get the victory.
And another thing, WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE VOTE ON THAT WEBSITE? I vote for the one I like better, example Robocop, then my vote tends to be lower than the other movie. So we must have like Twilight fans voting on that website
I have a game for my gamecube called Big Air and it came with a Godzilla destroy all monsters melee demo so I kept playing it and then found out that my friend had Terror of Mechgodzilla, Godzilla vs Mothra, and the Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla/ Godzilla vs Destroyah double disk so we watched them and I got hooked thats the story of how I fell in love with Godzilla
The set in Vancouver looks like an early or halfway movie scene, so I dont think Godzilla will take place in San Francisco like right away, more like at the end of the movie then Godzilla will be in San Francisco. So their set in Vancouver will probably just be Vancouver itself or another place.
Yes he will move slow in the movie, look at how big he is. The Pacific Rim kaijus and jaegors did move slow when walking, but would be pretty fast when running, but it doesnt really mean theyre fast when running. Theyre much smaller than Godzilla which makes theyre weight and height capable of running.
Godzilla I dont suppose will be capable enough to run in the new movie, because we know for sure hes going to be above 400 ft, most likely 500 feet, and that sounds way too big and too heavy to be able to walk fast or run.
So yeah point is, just look at my profile picture lol and even look at the teaser trailer, the way Godzilla's walking, it seems Godzilla will most likely be slow.
All Godzilla costume skins Monster X andmaybe have an add on for American monsters like Clover, and King Kong
It'll sure be PG-13, 'cause they want a wider audience to see it in theaters. They'll be toys, action figures, and other merchandise for fans, adult and children. An R rating that the movie gets leads to a BIG problem. Besides, I had a tweet with Patrick Sabongui, an actor who plays as the Master Sergeant. He confirms to me that there's going to be a complete Director's Cut underway soon. It could be released on Home Video after its release in theaters in a PG-13 version. Chris Picard is also happy to hear that. So you guys don't have to worry. :) :) :)
DOMESTIC
Well, I think it's opening weekend...it will come in a number one. That is if it is marketed well. I've seen plenty of movies that had huge hype not do well. This comes out a week after Spiderman 2 and a week before the new Xmen movie. This could be both a blessing and a curse. Blessing: It's a break from superheroes. There are two Marvel films out this year before Godzilla. Both look like fun, mindless popcorn flicks. Godzilla will be a serious dark film that will allow people seeking a more mature movie the thing they need. The Curse: It's sandwhiched between two extremely profitable Marvel franchises. I mean no offense to whoever picked this date, but they need a good kick square between the balls. That's a dumb idea. Sandwhiched between two Marvel movies! Both of which are sequeals!!! That's not very good at all! Now, unless this film is marketed none what so ever, I think will do okay. If WB decides to take their thumbs out of their bums and market it, and market it well, it could be a fairly profitable success story for Big G. But of course, WB is being a baby about marketing it becasue it's the last collaberative film between them and Legendary Pictures.
Opening weekend forecast:
Bad Marketing: 25-30 Million
Okay Marketing: 35-45 Million
Good Marketing: 50-65 Million
Great Marketing (including intense viral marketing that grabs attention): 65-75 Million
Long Term Domestic Box Office Haul:
Bad Marketing: 75-90 Million
Okay Marketing: 85-105 Million
Good Marketing: 90-115 Million
Great Marketing: 100-130 Million (130 is absolute TOPS)
INTERNATIONAL
There is where money will be made. If this film is marketed as being produced by the studio that brought you Pacific Rim, China will probably bring in alot of cash. Japan, as much as I hate to say this, will probably not impress. They lost faith in American Godzilla films after the disaster that Roland Emmerich gave us. Even Pacific Rim did poorly in Japan, and it was 100% new for them. (When I say new, I mean a new franchise involving Kaiju and Mecha.) UK ticket sales will probably be decent. Those are the main countries I look at.
Total International Haul (Whole world basically)
Bad Marketing: 150-180 Million
Okay Marketing: 175-190 Million
Good marketing: 215-240 Million
Great Marketing: 250-300 Million (300 Million is TOPS)
It pains me to talk of these low numbers for my favorite giant monster. I want to see this film succeed. I really do. I want more Godzilla. You can never have too much Godzilla! Never! But America has ruined Godzilla already (Thanks Emmerich, Devlin!) But, I may be wrong. This film may hit it out of the park and make upwards of 500+ Million! That would be amazing! I hope that happens, but I don't see it happening. Which is truly sad. WB and Legendary could change all that if they Market the hell out of this movie and let people see this is a serious take on Godzilla! We can only hope!
It will be PG13 since that rating will yield the highest possible gross-profit. They can make it rated R from a gore-standpoint, but the mind's eye can see enough to know the death and destruction that a 320 meter tall monster can cause.
I believe he will be slow and imposing...I think he'll move in almost a serpent like pattern...swaying side to side. In the Encounter Footage, he seemed to sway a little bit...and I know it looked like he was going really slow in the fotoage, but considering his size, he is moving quite fast.
When the time comes to move, I think this Godzilla will be alot like an Alligator or Crockodile, very short bursts of fast speed. I think that everytime he is about to strike a foe or at something else, he will tense up, maybe even some how make himself look bigger. Alot animals will tense up to make themselves appear much bigger than they really are. He will tense up...to store energy possibly. Then, he will strike really fast. He may even have a short sprint.
Overall, I don't believe that he will be running much...more of an ominous trudge...but when the moment calls for quickness and speed...he can move fast, but only for a limited time.
Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. It's just fun from beginning to end. Also what a badass Godzilla was. He rips off Ebirah's arm than taunts him with 'em!
He said he wanted to do a sequel to Godzilla if it did well. It is not being planned, it is just an idea he had.
I would say godzilla vs mechagodzilla(the old one of course)
Was just on news today it's real
I will just have to sneak in but I feel bad for young fans
that's about right
i would also like to see gamera back. i loved the heisei movies so i would like to see something like that
Gabara.
He is basically the Freddy Krueger of the Godzilla franchise. He tortures children in their dreams. He takes on the shape of an ogre-like creature, having an evil laugh as his roar. I think Gabara is a very cool monster, yet sadly underrated.
I would LOVE to see an updated Titanosaurus. He was always one of my favorites and his freaky wabbling roar still gives me chills today.
I bet it is in Vancouver too
I would agree on Hedorah. Defnitely one of the darker films in the series and one of the only (the only?) film to show actual dead humans resulting from a kaiju attack. Big fan of GvH.
Why is no one commenting this is a cool topic
For me it's gamera but the destroy all monsters movie would be awsome
The movie itself and mutos
1. The airport explosion, because it looks creepy.
2. Sad death scenes.
3. Godzilla fighting Mutos like a boss.
