Personally I think it's not smart to miss premiering a new trailer during the Super Bowl and here's why. I understand that the Superbowl is extremely expensive. Further, I also get that most movie trailers during it aren't as well remembered (even though those are the ones I tend to re-watch after the game is over). However, there are other factors here. For starters, Legendary only has one other movie coming out between now and Godzilla and that is 300 Rise of an Empire, which comes out barely two months before Godzilla. Most movies get a full real trailer (not a teaser like we have for Godzilla) several months before the premiere (300 had one months before, How to Train Your Dragon 2 has one already, etc.) and I feel like 300 is a little too late to get one out. Second, yes while many people don't remember the trailers from the Superbowl as well, that's also because most of the trailers end up being 30 second spots. If the studio put out more money (and come on, Gareth Edwards did this movie on $40 million less dollars than Pacific Rim was done, they can put out some) and got a minute or even two minute long commercial, like how Chrysler does every year, they would have a longer, more memorable spot that people will remember, again like the Chrysler or Budweiser one each year. Finally, while many people I know are stoked for Godzilla many more people I've met either haven't seen the teaser or know little to nothing about the film. Premiering this during the Super Bowl would ensure a large viewing audience to get the word out to. Showing off, say, the airport scene from CC that's been under wraps or some other amazing footage would be perfect for this opportunity. Again, though, that's my opinion.
i like 54 the best and i wouldnt change it i did like his roar but i like the roar from GVSMGII also. I`m 48 and i remember when i was 7 i saw 54 and whenthey showed the foot prints and
then his head peer over the mountain top it scare you to death lol!
The giant Condor from Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster of course. I'd like to see a revamped version Megalon. He had a lot of potential and looked pretty cool but is associated with a gay couple who built a robot that could somehow fly and grow to Daikaiju sizes.
The song Radioactive doesn't even have anything remotely to do with Godzilla. People only want that song in it because it has the word "Radioactive" in it, but the rest of the lyrics don't even make sense with anything that Godzilla stands for. People around here are literally saying, "Oh, it has the word 'radioactive' so it should be with a Godzilla movie." That's an awful reason and none of the lyrics suggest anything remotely thematic about Godzilla or what we've learned about the movie.
Not to mention the song sounds nothing like anything Desplat has done in the past and it would clash horribly with the mood of the movie.
It's a moot point anyway. I'm about 99% sure there won't be a song in the credits. Just more score from Desplat. I'm willing to put money on it. A lot of money...
#1 Hedorah, #2 Biollante. With modern CGI abilities these two could be done exceptionally well. A kaiju made of sludge with out the constrictions of a rubber suit could make for some pretty amazing scenes. The 'revamping' Hedorah got in 2004 was a joke, he and Biollante deserve another shot

IDW comics test script, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, written by Chris Mowry. I did a mock cover for it (directly below) for a school assignment at AAU. Everything was done by me.

What? A two minute long trailer amongst commercials meant to make you laugh and that's it. You put a dark, realistic and gritty trailer amongst those? It's simple marketing. You don't do that. It's not what people want to see.
Sorry, but who is Vishnu
I fell like I'ma get punched in the face for asking
I agree with Radioactive & Demons.
It's a fan made sculpt, I follow them on DA, but it is a good representation of what we know so far about the MUTOs.
@DylanCojiro, if they had to put a recent song in I would say Radioactive but, I think you're absolutely right about the main theme, but don't get your hopes up...you saw what they did with Man of Steel. I like Alexandre Desplat's music and I think he'll do a good job, but please fit the main theme in there somewhere.
I'd say Kiryu, Biollante(even though I've never seen the movie), Titanosaurus, and Space-G & Megalon.
At #1 drum roll plese dumdumdudum: Mechagodzilla. Ya ya Kiryu is practicaly Mecha-G but I mean the 1 from The Terror Of Mechagodzilla & Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla 1. It's just intresting to me that ALIENS CONTROLLED HIM, plus, Xillians are my favorite. (sorry if im wrong, It's been a couple year since I've seen the movies) :(
What are you talking about? Godzilla makes a tsunami when he comes to shore and I doubt before he goes into the water he looks down at his reflection on his free time LOL. I'm talking about a perfectly mirrored reflection from windows. It's definitely a cool idea.
Please no. How about no song of any kind, no current radio jam or anything like that. I think that would be ridiculous and would completely undo the tone of the film. If anything, during the end credits play the original Godzilla theme.
He'll look like Godzilla.
To be honest the only thing I likes about Radioactive was the beat, but ever scence "Demons" I have wanted nothing to do with Imagine Dragons.
@GOJIRA2K wow (._.)
Everything but "Radioactive"...Oh god i hate that song. And the only reason people link it to Godzilla is because its called radioactive.

I assume you mean the clip at 1:32?
Thats Ford Brody(Aaron Johnson) jumping of a railroad track. It is, however a cliff WITH a railroad. My guess is that he was on the train carrying the nuclear bomb we saw footage of all the way back in late 2012/early2013, which was then cut off by either Godzilla or one of the MUTO monsters
If you look closely, you can see something brake by Fords right side. Looks wood-like.
I dont really know. Im pretty sure he would know its a reflection. He see`s his reflection in water all the time. Besides, it just sounds weird. So i would pass on the idea.
I can't believe there are still people that think Radioactive would be a good song for this movie. It's like no one here understands tonal consistancy.
Good question. Lets see...I want too put a bit of variation on the foes.
Biollante-Could be a failed experiment, like how they cross plant genes to create better species of plants. A new, better formula made by something thats reproductive (Like Godzilla cells), and you have a pretty pissed of plant. And she should be BIG.
Baragon-(I feel like im gonna get flame for this) Would be a mole. A MOLE. A mutated one of course. After years of leakage of "insert something sciency", this special species of mole evolved. It would have these completely black eyes, and long claws due to it living most of its life underground. And of course aqn armored back to protect him against Goji`s breath.
Varan-A flying squirrel!...Nah, just kidding. Varan would be one of those gliding lizards, mutated by that other sciency-stuff that mutated Baragon. I would like for Varan too be kinda small. If Godzilla is about 150m, Varan should be 45 meter tall.
Gigan/Megalon-These two fit togheter for me. Both would be cyborg-like beings, created by a race of ancient aliens who died out thousands of years ago. When they wake up, they follow a code of orders they were programmed with encase no one where there too command them.
Ghidorah-Ghidorah would very much be Ghidorah. With a few twists. Basically, Ghidorah needs somewhere to "get fuel". And what planet in our solar system have the best resources? Where did he come from? Who knows. Probably from another planet far away where he evolved in the same way Godzilla did on earth.
Lets not misunderstand, I'm sure Legendary/WB would promote Godzilla during the Super Bowl if the slots didn't cost such a ridiculous amount of money. The issue isn't that advertising during the Super Bowl isn't good. The issue is that advertising during the Super Bowl is really expensive and there's no guarantee of large return from that expense.
This was from the Godzilla encoutner and is not a part of the actual movie.
However, I can answer your inquiry about size. The elevator stopped at floor 35, which, according to modern American Architecture, can measure 355 feet for a hotel style building (unlikely), or around 450 for an office building. That range is expected given how Gareth Edwards said his Godzilla would be "just about" the biggest Godzilla ever.
We have some geniuses on this site who think he's going to be 779'+, and they're absolutely incorrect beyond the shadow of a doubt.
This footage is not from the film, but it does represent the accurate kind of portrayal they'll be using for Godzilla in the movie. I believe this is his official size as well, which again makes sense given Edwards comments.
But again, this was not from the movie.
I'm not going to be specific per say. I think, I'm a Dragon/Dinosaur Kaiju Hybrid from another dimension.
Ebirah hands down. He actually fits the realistic approach perfectly. Lobsters don't actually age (this is real) they eventually get eaten or die by having their exoskeleton crushed. In actuality, a lobster could live forever - again their bodies do not age, simply become stronger and bigger- now add some radioactive leakage and you have an monster who, with some awesome FX would be an awesome opponent
Very interesting. I like the reflection idea a lot. Not so much the point where he using his atomic breath. But I'd like to see how godzilla would react to his reflection for the first time.
Orga? Excellent choice! He truly is underated. I would have to say...Monster X
I remember I type an essay on another post with the same topic. So dumb to have a trailer. For the SB. People want stupid commercials like Doritos and Chevy. It'd be a waste of money. People want 15-30 seconds of funny stupidity followed by a logo. Smart move not getting G a slot.
@Godzilla Himself, thank you very much for the compliment, I hope to be posting more Godzilla 2014 stuff here and on DA real soon!!
@Thatonekidwhoscreams, you're exactly right, the first time I ever heard the song I kept thinking, "Man, this would be cool set to Godzilla." I liked the idea so much that I made a video set to it. For anyone who is interested, here's the link.
I agree with you. It really makes sense not to do it.
I say either Megaguirus, Keizer Ghidorah, Destoroyah, SpaceGodzilla, Megalon, Desghidorah, maybe even Bagan would be cool to see. Now to go off topic a little, I'll give some picks for Gamera monsters. For those I say Legion, Irys, Barugon, Zedus, Zigra, or Jiger. I now you said pick one but I just couldn't.
titanosaurus and kiryu
Thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard.
yeah using his atomic breath might be a little too much but it would explain the giant hole in the middle of that building in the trailer
I actually had a similar thought of him having his first experience with his reflection. I was thinking he'd become agitated, and headbutt the building.
Why are you so concerned with the movie using the "F word"? Will it add to the movie? No. Will it develop characters better? No. Will it make the plot darker, or more gritty? No. Will it impress 12 year old who want to seem bad ass? Maybe.
There's no point in putting in the Fword, and the censoring you're so concerned about literally does nothing to the movie but lower the audience that can attend.
Nice. I have been trying to find this video so I could watch it again.
