@BCROCKETT94 Every fanbase has those rabid fanboys. Godzilla is no different, and if other people watching the fandom from a distance can't realize that, then they don't really know how a fanbase works.
I wasn't ever really taking this poll seriously anyway, I voted about three times and that was it. I got kind of caught up near the end of this Vampire Academy-fiasco, and I'm not all that proud to admit it.
However, even then, I agree with you on the hostility of these arrogant fanboys. I mean, come on guys, seriously? It's a movie poll by mtv, something that hasn't been taken seriously since the 90s. It's not going to make or break the success of Godzilla. Instead however, some Godzilla fans took it upon themselves to completely spam the forum topic section with this shit. And now that Godzilla has lost, people in the status section are grieving, as if the movie has already flopped in the box office. Come on.
The only enjoyability I can find from Zilla 98 is the nostalgia. That's it.
I don't see how anyone can call the creature in this movie Godzilla, even if that is the film's title. Zilla literally has none of the characteristics of Godzilla. They cannot be deemed the same in any way.
Way to make us look like decent people! We were the most likeable people there. Now even MORE people are looking forward to this movie because we kept on calling the opposition "twilight loving prebubescent bitches", and my personal favorite "dumb bimbos that don't know anything about a fictional character with 'rich history''! Ah, we make so much friends wherever we go.:D (sarcasm, sarcasm, and even more sarcasm).
Because it's a challenge and King Ghidorah is a popular character. Godzilla's been stretched and pull in different ways over the last 60 years I don't see why the same can't be done for the original juggernaut that took three monsters to defeat.
Like Godzilla there's a uniqueness to every monster that can be stretched and pulled to do different things, but the fact King Ghidorah's popularity has been like has since the 1960s says something for his appeal. Fans are drawn to him. Writers are drawn to him. Even the IDW comic writers seem to be doing a fine job with allowing him to reoccur over and over.
But saying King Ghidorah has "nowhere else to go" is an asinine comment, not just for him, but any monster. Like many half-decade old, beloved characters and villians writers have probably done a great deal of stretching with King Ghidorah, but perhaps that's not simply the point. Maybe it's also how differently these concepts can be done.
One example is that many screenwriters will say there's on six or seven different stories in every film you see. But it's not about coming up with something different, but rather the way you tell those six or seven different stories. I think when it comes down to it the same can be said for iconic characters-- King Ghidorah included.

THAT MOVIE IS THE WORST LOAD OF DOUCHE RAPING, FART KNOCKING, RHINO JERKING, BALL SPLITTING, BIGGEST PIECE MONKEY SCROTUM I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE F%#$ING LIFE!!!! Please forgive me for my potty mouth, but this is the ONLY way I can express my thoughts about the GINO movie. (The "GINO" applies the title of the '98 movie only, which is what I just did)
@THETRUEAMERICANGODZILLA "TriStar, like Legendary Pictures, wanted a realistic take on the monster." I'm sorry, but TriStar never said anything about a "realistic" Godzilla, they originally were going to make "Godzilla vs. The Gryphon", but the whole "realistic" thing is an assumption people made up. The movie is really beyond unrealistic, plagued with scientifi and physical inaccuracies, it didn't carry the realism the original Godzilla did, which is to be a symbol for nuclear weapons.
As a general monster movie I love it. It's fun and exciting. However, while I love Zilla, I do admit it's not Gojira. TriStar, like Legendary Pictures, wanted a realistic take on the monster.
Zilla ended up being an advanced godzillasaurus instead of a Gojira. TriStar went in the wrong direction with it. I never understand why, in their concept artworks, it looked and behaved more like Gojira and yet these weren't used.
However it did have a cool look and neat aspects (like a powerfully built set of jaws). I'm glad to see some of the cooler aspects of Zilla being part of the 2014 American Godzilla.
when i was a kid i used to like it, but now that is see it, that is not godzilla. people got to understand that is not godzilla. its like if they make superman weak were he can't take a bullet, make him yellow, and make him look more like a alian to be more realistic, people are not going to like him and not think he's superman. that is my opinion.
they should not make only a godzilla ride but all kaiju. we will have gamera, ultraman, and all the monsters you can think of.
Overall pretty good. Just two things to note-first I agree that Godzilla 98 needed to be included--it is part of the history and is what it is and folks need to get over it. That Toho decided to change the name after fact does not change it. So kudos to the maker for including it. Secondly, this tribute would have been perfect if the video ended with the roar of the new Godzilla--icing on the cake.

Let's not forget that Harry Potter is one of Universal's biggest attractions and that's a Warner Bros. film just like Godzilla. I think it would be cool if they did one of Godzilla nd also one where you and a friend can pilot a Jaeger in a simulated Kaiju battle.

Playing as Kiryu you can use the Absolute Zero Cannon. You use it by pressing a+b+c+z with all four energy cells filled.
Also, Krystalak has a shockwave ability. It's a+b+c+z with any amount of energy cells filled. Depending on how many energy cells filled depends on much damage the shockwave will do.
I have always hated Fakezilla 1998 since I first saw it. I have always hated the bad acting, cliches, horrible monster design, and the general overall inconsistant sizes of Zilla really killed it for me. I think it is not even a fun monster movie. It is just unwatchable.
It could happen now that universal purchased the rights from Legendary.......
Its very simple they called the movie "GODZILLA" because BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS would'nt fly in this day'n age,but YES it was a good giant monster movie zilla was a cool monster was i happy when GODZILLA stomped the s**t out of zilla in final wars HELL YEAH!!!
Really, my biggest problem with the film is the fact that is called "Godzilla". I mean, what do you expect when you see a film directed by Roland Emmerich? You expect a big, dumb, over-the-top action movie that has a lot of cheesy characters and writing, and that is EXACTLY what this film is. It's a fun movie, but with stale writing, like most of Emmerch's stuff. Take the name "Godzilla" off of it and you have a nice little homage to the Kaiju genre, kind of like Pacific Rim today. But, with that name at the top, it is a complete rape to the entire franchise.
I liked it, ignoring that they call zilla "Godzilla" it´s a fun movie, yeah, it might be the typicall Emmerich crap, with a lot of cliches, bad drama and generic characters, but a giant iguana running trough the city is fun.
The movie itself is shit, if you ask a professional critic, for me: it is fine.

Rodan's my favorite monster so I'd say him, but I'd also like to see Titanosaurus, Varan, Biollante, King Ceasar, Megalon, and maybe Destroyah for the final enstallment if multiple ones are made.
I like Godzilla 1998. It's simply a fun movie that if you don't put under a microscope and sit back you can actually enjoy it. It really bothers me that people say things like, "oh Godzilla doesn't eat fish, or he wouldn't die from jet missiles." To this i respond Godzilla flies through the air using his nuclear breath, and dances on the moon. Is it really that big a deal that they did something different with him in this movie? I mean it was just a different take. Sure he's able to be taken out, but that adds fun to the movie. With no other monster if they would have made him invulnerable would it have been all that fun to watch? Were the baby scenes a copy from jurassic park? Sure but I still enjoyed them a hell of a lot more than any Minilla scene.
It's okay as a monster movie, but it is garbage as a Godzilla Movie. Why call it Godzilla? Zilla is nothing like the original. Why buy the license for Godzilla and than make this.
I have no problem with changing the design a little bit, but how could you get Zilla from the Godzilla design. He looks nothing like it, he has none of the abilities of Godzilla. I don't get it.
If you watch it as a monster movie, it's okay. There is this lovestory thing, that nobody needs, but it's okay. But it's not Godzilla. And Zilla isn't scary in any way.

Ghidorah is a monster though, and the rogues are all people, thus it's easier to develop them. A monster can only go so far as it's thought process it much lower, so you can't really adapt, or show it growing as you could a person. You could make Ghidorah into more, hell you could do what I just said and actually give them general animosity towards eachother and a bloodlust rather than controllers want Godzilla out of the way, or "hey you're going to destroy the earth or Japan and I live there; can't let that happen." but there's really no reason to since the same could be done for any monster. The original post wanted an Ghidorah with Destroyah's toughness and humanlike thoughts, and that's just stupid. As I said originally Ghidorah is 1 of, if not the strongest monster in the series, and to take him to new levels above that is unneeded.
Sure you could develop him more, but why stress the writing team trying to come out with a new way to do Ghidorah that 's different from the 4 other ways(5 if you count his appearance in the mothra series) than go for a monster that could be redone and retooled so much easier?

If you are referring to the trailer that was shown in Hall H this past summer, where the muto monster and godzillas foot is shown during the airport scene, I do not believe that has been leaked on the internet.
If it has leaked recently- then I stand corrected and I WANT TO SEE IT TOO!
