well not everybody loves a touchy feely ending, i personally dont mind at all. infact i prefer it. i want to feel sorry for him. kind of like davy jones in pirates of the carribean
@AKAGI: You've gotten me curious, how is a 350' tall creature is supposed to sign an autograph to a human?
@GOJIRA2K: I'm also wondering about the Mutos as well as Godzilla. Both would be cool to see!
I always get excited for Toyfair, regardless of what I know is going to be there-- but now I'm smiling wider.
@Linkzilla
I know he was suppose to explode-- and to me that was far more interesting. At least it goes more with the whole "bomb metaphor' that everyone loves. Melting just didn't do it for me. Everything about Godzilla is spectacle, and personally-- I think melting is more eighties gore movie spectacle than bad-ass explosion.
I think Godzilla really got screwed in Destroyer, its one of my least favorite movies. He has no 'victory' or moment of 'screw you humans' like he needed, they really pushed the 'tragic monster angle' hardcore, and its fine in small doses, but I felt like it was shoved down my throat the whole film.
I wanted to see him grab the murderer of his son, hold him there, and start to meltdown with Destroyer in his grasp-- not have the military take 'er out. For me, that movie just missed too many opportunities...
But then again, in my opinion, all films meant to 'end a franchise' usually suck. I'm talking long winded franchises, like Godzilla, not final films in trilogies.
Awwww, the title gave me the impression that Godzilla would actually be there signing autographs... :(
going to get me a sideshow-zilla
A giant mutated mantis-shrimp! It's the gulp pipeline's doing! LOL In reality those are some pretty ornery critters, their claws can bust through any shell...
I so hope there will be Smaug figure there along with the new designs of Godzilla and the Mutos.
KYERO: He wasnt trying to be a know it all and it dosnt sound like he was trying to be a know it all either. Oh but there are a few peaple on these forums who have their heads stuck so far up their asses that they dont allow opinions or speculations besides their own.... Ah what were their names again... Ah I know one started with a K and the other a Gm.
Can you give me a link?
I agree with everything KYERO said except for the part of the eye in the trailer. I watched it slowed down in 1080p on my 55" LED samsung TV and you with out a doubt see the head, eye and even neck of the muto to the left of the train car.
If any of this is true, I've lost all faith in this movie and it WILL be a flop.... super sonic speed jump... SMH, i hope not.
"some kind of shrimp or molusk. I saw a post about a offical (i guess?) MUTO monster ability, it was some kind of super sonic speed jump or dash, and the creature looked extremely similar to this in the video that was in the post.I think, I THINK a shrimp like muto creature was confirmed or leaked, and someone was in this website was able to see a picture that was leaked. He/she described the monster as shrimp-like." <----- that would be awful on so many levels if it ends up happening.
Well if you look at the... well.. hands.. of a shrimp and the way it's hands/claws are shaped they are shaped like whatever rips the train in half in the teaser trailer so maybe there is something to this.
@AKAGI
"I don't understand the love of seeing Godzilla go all wicked witch. I'd much rather see him explode-- but that is just me."
I might be remembering this wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the way Godzilla's meltdown worked was that he would start to melt from the heat inside his body, but when his body was too damaged to contain his energy, he would've exploded with incredible force, which the JSDF managed to prevent by freezing him to keep his energy levels relatively low. I'm not sure how he could've destroyed the Earth by simply melting.
And as for Kyero, I'm getting really sick of your arrogant attitude, and I would love to prove why you're wrong about the subject of whether Godzilla could survive a nuke, but I have a feeling that, like I've seen on several other threads, you won't come back here to see people disprove your so-called "facts." Maybe I'll make a separate thread on the topic and see if you go there to try and debunk my argument.
I hope so. Maybe by that time the embargo will be lifted.
To me, it seems as though the design in the brazilian poster is a really stylized version of what will probably end up in the final film.
As Gman said, this is to be expected.
KYERO shut up and calm down! I see the eye and so many else does too! You don't see anything. That's okay.
symbolically in GvsD godzilla never dies, because if one godzilla does die anouther takes it's place, when 1954 godzilla dies he was replaced (although 30 years later in the Heisei godzilla's case) by a new godzilla, when heisei godzilla died in his meltdown he was replaced by his son, who was revived by the 'enormous' radiation emmited by his farther and was able to continue his legacy. if godzilla does die then it should end 1. humanity finally learns their mistakes and lessons and improve the way they treat the earth to avoid creating more monstrocities or 2. godzilla died but anouther godzilla comes along to contnue his legacy and continue punishing humanity.
again really the writers, producers and directors make the decide, they decide if godzilla can or cannot survive a nuke(ground zero explosion or outside the explosion) they decide if humans have any capability to comabt godzilla, they decide if godzilla can go critical if he absorbs too much nuclear energy, they decide if he can even bleed. thats the power writers, producers and directors have when it comes to completly fictional chacters like godzilla, spideman, the xmen, hulk and other fictional charcters.
Hey G2K,
As a fan of all that is concise, you may want to redirect this to the discussion that has already begun (quite recently).
http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/30829
Hey KYERO, you may want to check out the first discussion that I contributed to this forum.
also if the original dark gojira is rated UK rating PG (which is the equivilant of US PG-PG13) then there is no reason for this movie to not be PG13, it's the best and most smart choice. if you want this film to do succesfully then it has to be PG-13. also to have a r rating the movie has to have a lot of swearing.
Are we seriously STILL discussing this?
I feel like such a jerk for being 'mean' about this, but the 'r rated godzilla film' assumption is easily the silliest one I've ever heard. That is in a mountain of gigantic, incredibly silly assumptions made about this film. There have been a lot, and yet this one still floats to the top of the pile everytime.
1. making it r would cut out a large majority of potential audiences
2. really the tone of the movie is not the factor of making a movie dark
3. r rated movies normally include human gore/blood and especially nudity (no godzilla movie will ever have this)
4. why would you market a movie for kids with toys if they aren't even allowed to watch the movie, parents would find that really stupid
5. critcs and general audiences are going to be really confused and possibly fustrated.
i don't want to go to a cinema to watch godzilla and be asked for I.D, seriously why. they are going to expect to get a lot of money from this, they know that godzilla appeals to kids and that there are fans who are under 17.
if this movie is rated r then it has NO CHANCE against TASM2 and XMEN:DoFP
My personal opinion, Godzilla's meltdown is probably his most disrespectful death. Its lonesome, its boring, and its just sappy.
I don't understand the love of seeing Godzilla go all wicked witch.
I'd much rather see him explode-- but that is just me.
And as far as Godzilla dieing, he never dies anyway, so why does it matter? He always comes back or theres some kind of hint at the end of the film that he isn't the 'only one'. So I really don't think its an issue.
As far as Godzilla survivng a nuke, if we are talking Godzilla in general, he has survived an asteroid strike, swam through magma, and so on and so forth.
Godzilla's death has always been superficial, or done away with in sequels. Its not anything to worry about, I can honestly say the first film was the only time I think they really, genuinely wanted him dead-- until the cash flowed in and they made a sequel.
So in the end, the all mighty dollar is the ultimate Godzilla fuel and it'll decide if he 'dies' or not.
yea radiation can do what ever it wants, but godzilla is completly fictional, the writers can do what ever they want with him, godzilla can never exist, they can make some features realistic because it may make it better but too much realism is not necessary, i dought they will kill him with a nuke, also one nuke's radiation is not going to cause godzilla to go critical, in GvsD the island that godzilla and godzilla jr were on had uranium depsoits under the island, there must have been a lot as the entire island was destoryed proably more than the power of modern nukes as godzilla did survive. again scientific logic does not work with godzilla, no matter how realistic you want him, he is pure fiction, TOHO knew this thats why they had humans use ultra -futreistic and totally impossible weapons weaponry like: the oxygen destoryer, mechagodzilla, masers and laser tanks, freezer weapons, nuclear feeding bacteria, and the blackhole gun. the black hole from the dimension tide may not have been as powerful as a real black hole but it was powerful enough to cause a nuke sized crater. also that meteor explosion from FW did hit godzilla because 1. godzilla was in the centre of a huge crater, even if he wasn't in the actaul explosion it was a big explosion and the didn't get affected by the shockwave.
I'm not seeing the snideness you're claiming metaljazzfunk is touting in his post, seemed more like speculation and less like "I know it all" in-fact, most of the know it all posts on this forum come from a certain someone... and it isn't metaljazzfunk.
yup, thats what i thought, totally agree with you kyero
The film production was called Nautilus under Nemo Productions, which is of course-- a code name. The code name itself is more of a reference to Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, a novel by Jules Verne.
What this has to do with anything is subjective-- honestly I think it was done impart as a cute reference to old Godzilla King of the Monster trailers in which they claim that the film is "More Fantastic than anything ever written by Jule's Verne".
But I could be wrong.
thanks co-admin gavin singleton ill remember that next time sorry about that there you go guys that is the image
You know, if a black hole gun can't kill him what makes you think a nuke would? If it could why didn't they already try it? Sure America may change that, but until I see it, I stand corrected
Lest we forget the working title of Cloverfield was "Cheese" until they released more info about it. I didn't see one slice of cheese in that movie Not even cheese dip at the party in the beginning. KYERO makes a good point. The only other feature length film Gareth directed was monsters and while they were indeed cephalopod like monsters you can't go based on one film alone. However maybe he does like using that as a monster design and may incorporate it into Godzilla, so at the same time I can't say KYERO is totally correct either. We simply don't know enough about Gareth or his directing style to judge that. The whole point of my comment was basically about the title Nautilus and how that is definitely no way to judge one aspect of an entire film.
He was delivering news that the production's cover name was Nautilus. He was delivering news that there are currently pick-ups going on for the film.
This is expected though. Every movie has pick-ups or reshoots.
crap it wont show here you go guys i cant figure this out but this is what i found on google just a second ago

godzilla 2014 hill szene/reboot.2
it should show a picture of godzilla's face over a hill with a bunch of soliders on the hill side looks familiar to the original godzilla 1954 film but i believe the face is photoshopped still we could see this in the new movie
What a heartbreak if they make it "R". I was looking forward to this movie being the
crown jewel of my collection. I grew up watching Gozilla and I am probably the only adult
that doesn't allow "R" movies in the house. I can't believe this.
The Brazilian poster was for a liscencing exposition to showcase early designs of Godzilla to encourage other comanies to create merchandise for the film.
It was never relevant to the final design of Godzilla, contrary to popular opinion.
(Though I do think they should have stuck with that design because it's far superior to the one in the trailer in my opinion. The more upright posture and thinner neck are much more like classic Godzilla to me, though I can live with the design they've chosen.)
... What was this supposed to tell us?
We knew Godzilla's title during early production was nautilus a LONG time ago. This is no longer a relevant topic of conversation.
Aaaaaaand your point METALJAZZFUNK is... what exactly?
Do you have proof to back up your opinion? Perhaps an interview with a member of the Legendary crew who worked on the project and knows what the MUTOs will look like?
No?
I didn't think so. The title of the film being "nautilus" during its pre-production and production phases means nothing in regards to the final product. There's no reason to believe that the MUTOs will look like anything from Gareth's previous works. After all, it's only one movie. If Gareth had made twenty films and used the same designs over and over again, then yes, we'd have reason to believe it. But the fact that it was only one movie which used such designs means nothing in regards to this film.
If there is a sea going "nautilus" type MUTO in this film, then pat yourself on the back for an extremely lucky guess. Otherwise, stop trying to pretend you know something that everyone else doesn't. Your choice of words and phrasing make it sound as if you think you know something for a fact when it's just your opinion.
And KAIJUUFIN, that movie doesn't prove anything. Whatever it is in that tiny snippet of the trailer has not been confirmed as a head at all. It could be any part of the MUTO for all we know. A foreclaw, a leg, a mouth, anything. Nothing is confirmed just because you think you see something. When I watch that in the trailer, I turn up the brigtness to max and I see no eyes at all, just a small shadow under an uneven lump of flesh or wahtever its skin is made of. I have the trailer in 1080p on my desktop and I've slowed it down an obscene amount of times to get the best look possible and even froze the frame altogether.
No eyes.
Nothing about that snippet has been confirmed, so please stop trying to help spread the rumor that there has been. Unless you as well have proof to back up the opinion such as confirmation from a Legendary crew member who put the trailer together, don't speculate fact when it's your opinion. It's a disservice to all your fellow G fans to do so.
