plus it wasnt enough destrucion to be godzilla it is probly srain or what ever that is
@RAY BURRBERRY
I'm doubtful...that had the FOX logo at the bottom right...
It won't dethrone Superhero movies for two simple reasons.
1. Superhero movies are popular when th economy isn't good (and it's in the tank right now).
2. Right now when asked what your ideal date movie is, just under 50% of men say superhero movies while over 70% of women say that superhero movies are their ideal date movies. Going to the movies for date night are a big reason people go to the movies and with groups like the avengers and the justice league just getting started there will be no dethroning anytime soon
That will be cool and I don't known if superhero movies will ever go away. I will love to see a American version of Gamera.
That's pretty cool. Too bad it's just photoshopped.
That would be cool. I think it's fake (reddit man, reddit), but cool nonetheless.
I don't know if anyone caught it because it was so brief but a 5 second spot aired that showed a ground with people running and screaming. Could be for another film like Spiderman but it could be Godzilla.
@ Mikeynamez You got a good point, but why would they make a Godzilla toy for ages 5 and up? Maybe there trying to get every age group.
Oh those are good ones too. The Godzilla 1990's rage is so cool and King Ghidorahs burning forms looks good with him. To me it was hard too chose because there all awesome.
i wouldnt be supprised if it is a supprise trailer, it is possible that legendary and WB could have the trailer unannounced. but most likley not, hopefully we get something on febuary 7th
I dont think so. It would have been announced. But im pretty sure we`re still getting a trailer the 7th. Im sure.
On another note, i tried to watch a live-stream, but i dont live in America, so i cant watch anything. I wanted to see alot of the trailers. Does anyone know when these trailers are released on the internet?.
The first trailer with the epic HALO jump sequence is enough I think. Why do you all need to see (and therefore spoil) more of the movie when simply by being here it's pretty obvious you're already invested in the project. I dunno, a film like this will thrive on the monster seqyences and the big reveals so I'm all for shrouding it in secrecy until its release and just showing the halo jump teaser trailer more frquently towards the release to create hype.
it would be a nice sirprise but most likely not
it could be a big eveal like khan in star trek into darkness. besides do you know how many times film makers have said they werent going to add something and they still did? a lot and i still think its not just going to be insects i want some variety
I am really 9 and the Gogira 2014 trailer did not scare me so young 5 year olds should be intimidated but not afraid
Maybe Kamercuras are named M.U.TO.S
The M.U.T.O. design is is going to be a be a bug (maybe)
The Kamercuras are are bugs and if mutos are too M.U.T.O. is codename for Kamercura
@MIKEYNAMEZ Business wise? It's a smart decision. Boys like movies like this, I know because I was a boy, and I liked movies like this. Destruction, giant creatures, that's enticing to a child. It's all about getting the movie out to a wide audience, and a lot of people are going to see the Lego Movie, I know adults who are going, I know teenagers who are going. Showing the trailer there would be a wise decision, and would reach out to a large majority of people.
In all honesty, I'm really, REALLY tired of superhero movies. However, Godzilla will probably not put the superhero movies to sleep.
@AKAGI you say that it is the actors and actress are going to be the 'only' reason that this movie does well, well maybe but you can't say it will be the 'only' reason, the name will help and despite the big names i belive that godzilla will be the main star of the movie everytime he shows up, i can just see reviwers saying that. beside the young girls will be a minority of the audience, you've got moster/kaiju and godzilla fans (who consit of boys and girls), children(possibly) those who grew up having watched at least 1 godzilla movie and and godzilla appeals to non-western audiences audience and also you got bryan cranstons fans. but when those fans of the actor watch the movie, i belive godzilla WILL be the star of the movie, no matter the amont of screen time.
Aleast it better than Godzilla 1998 Europes best dirctor,Razzie award for worst prequel, razzie worst supporting actress and so many more
but for an award prediction id say:
1. special effects
2. best director
3. best actor/actress
really this sort of prediction should happen after we have seen the movie, i don't won't to bring everyones hopes down but we can't just think it will be 100% good with only 2 theatrical posters and only 1 teaser, it has potentail but we should wait till after 16th of may.
I see a nomination for visual effects and maybe 1 nomination for best actor/actress.
Remember it did almost happen with Avatar. On the other hand, this year Pacific Rim and Ender's Game both got snubbed for the Special Effects nom while Lone Ranger got nominated to the category as well as one other (wtf is that about?!).
I would love to see a nomination too, and quite frankly I think this film has as good a chance as any for that to happen... but I somehow doubt it too. Maybe cinematography or directing though if it's really good?
pleas dont say michael bay will direct gamera. my god that would be awful
They still had a lot of trailers for ET though and those started, I believe, a long time before te movie was released. Those trailers, coupled with Speilberg's name, really drew a lot of attention to the film. Don't get me wrong I still hope/think Godzilla can and should do really well, I just don't find the example as applicable, especially since the film landscape has changed in the 3 decades since
I can see a nomination for special effects, but that's it. Nobody takes Godzilla seriously, so it's not going to go anywhere Oscar wise. It could be the greatest movie ever, but that doesn't matter, in the end it's still a monster movie, and that's all that matters with things like this. I'm still shocked LOTR:ROTK won so big, I don't see it happening with another fantasy/sci-fi type movie.
@ZillaHater, yeah, I would be genuinely surprised also if it doesn't get nominated. I think this movie is really going to change people's minds and views about Godzilla for thos who have never seen the earlier films.
Let me put it this way;
Oscar Nomination; ABSOLUTELY.
Oscar win; Its 50/50.
If it doesnt get nominated i will be suprised. But win...Well, i wouldnt count on it, but it can happen.
People forget that children are Godzilla's target audience, no matter how serious the films are, at the end of the day, we all got into godzilla as children and a whole new generation will with this new film.
So I think it'll be subjective to which projectionist does what-- we are also talking about the NEW trailer, which might not be as grimdark as the teaser trailer. I think this guy's words hold a lot of water.
it could happen, nothing is stoping legendary from buying the rights to gamera, but most likley it isnt going to happen, but it is possible the rights to gamera could be bought and be remade, if that happend, i have a felling michael bay or Gareth Edwards would direct it, but still fun to think about
LOL! Never happen-- Godzilla is not Robert Downey Jr, Godzilla is not Chris Hemsworth.
The only reason Godzilla will do good in theaters is because of its cast. Girls are already wanting to see it because of Aaron Johnson-- and most movie goers in the US are comprised of young girls between ages 10-16.
You'll never tell me those kind of girls have any interest in Godzilla or super heroes and at the end of the day-- quoting an actual girl here 'Avengers had more hotties in it than any film ever. So yeah.
I dislike the costume for a lot of reasons, but like other aspects of it.
Number one, I love his skin texture, the spikey bits around the neck sand arms just seems natural, his claws and hand shape are well proportioned and his tail is nice.
But for me what makes Godzilla-- Godzilla, is his expressive face. Godzilla 2000's face is just too soulless and reptilian. Very little mammalian features, which were always a staple of what made Godzilla unique and not just a 'giant dinosaur' but something new. HIs teeth also bug the living heck out of me, and worst of all, is his color scheme.
I -hate- green Godzillas and I really hate Green Godzillay with bright pink tongues (Watermelon zilla) and best of all, purple spines-- which would look good on a gray godzilla, but not on something bright green. So at the end of the day they're going for a more realistic design that ends up being far flashier and unrealistically colored.
Interesting design.
The head seems a bit off, but the body looks correct.
i like the modernized desgin of the g2000 suit especially the spike like shapes of the dorsal fins and how they still used a orange beam instead of fire. and i only like the american version of this movie, it added better sound effects and felt more complete, the japanes version had no sound effects when it should have like, godzilla opening his mouth with out roaring and others.
also the millenium raor is quite good.
About the MUTO, I have a design speculation I uploaded on deviantART.
I like the suit. It gives a visual pleasure as eye candy with the spikey texture. It's probably my 2nd design after Godzilla 2014
