He's just pointing out a neat coincidence. The new movie is being released 16 years later, only 4 days before Zilla hit the theaters. It's an interesting little fact.
I honestly think the MUTO's are all going to be dwarfed by godzilla. I think their purpose is to make Godzilla look even more terrifying. "Oh no! We're being attacked by giant insect monsters! Help!" And then at the sight of Godzilla, "Oh my God... We're doomed." I think the MUTO's are going to be a lot weaker than Godzilla. They could be the monsters we can't destroy but Godzilla literally stomps all over. Toho might be insulted to see homages to their other monsters literally being crushed by Godzilla. I don't think that's the message Legendary wants to send.
I do love how everyone always wants to see the source (likely for their own enjoyment but feigning skepticism) yet if the source was unveiled on this page it would likely be taken down. For instance from the day it leaked till the day the actual teaser came out I had a page I could go to easily where I could watch the SDCC12 footage but I never posted it on here because I didn't want it taken down. My buddy has access to some ridiculous private pirating cite that apparently had that footage up since 2012. I'll see if he can find this new leaked footage/scenes .
@Durp004
But her personality is still unique to kaiju. Anti-heroes tend to play a single note and it's why Godzilla in the Heisei series got so stale-- probably in the Millennium series as well, despite the multiple timelines.
Just because there's redundancy or a backstory where she's "born into a situation" doesn't make her any less palatable or interesting to the predicament she's surrounded by. Granted, this isn't typically a trait that makes for interesting characters with clearly anthropomorpic beings, but making it a staple with a creature that should, by all means, be aligned with Godzilla and Rodan to destroy the planet makes for a very unique creature.
The fact that she's more pure than even the human characters is even more fascinating. She's the one piece in the franchise that is an all, encompasing good and is, of all things, a monster. If that isn't a firm example of standing out, I'm not sure what could be considered otherwise.
good find, thanks for posting it.
@KINGKAIJUGOJIRA yeah i meant stardom
To me it will be Gigan because he's a total badass.
A ride would be cool. But it would most likely need approval from Toho first, since Godzilla is Toho's creation. Also, there are plenty of monsters bigger than Godzilla. I mean, not in stardom, Godzilla's the biggest monster movie star, but in height, there are a few monsters bigger than him.
Ooh, hard to say. Gigan is cunning and dangerous. Megalon is resiliant and a bit trigger-happy. I like them both equally. Why are these decisions so hard?!
yeah actually i change my statement, but gigan is still better
You should change the "cunning and traitorous" to cowardly.
I'd have to say Gigan too but it's not by much
gigan- cyborg dino chicken with metal claws, laser eye and a buzzsaw belly is cunning and traitorous
megalon- giant beetle, King ghidorah lighting horn, drill hands, fire bombs, acts like a stubon child.
yeah gigan wins hands down
at least it's something to think about and discuss. there hasn't been any interesting news lately. ill take this possible fake news over nothing anyday.
@Gman2887
I don't find monsters with the anithero persona boring even if all of them had that. It's more animalistic and suits them better in my opinion. Now if we want to talk about boring Mothra is the epitome of that. She had 1 character trait, so while monsters like Godzilla and Rodan can do any number of things Mothra will always follow the formula of the boyscout of toho. Always in the right. Even when compared to the human characters Mothra never stops being the ultimate form of good that can never be stopped. That sort of 1 dimensional trait makes her much more boring for me. True she is brave but like I said after the first move she fought Godzilla that really didn't get made better. In fact it was done much worse
The bravery and odds you list really stop after fighting Ghidorah. In the heisei version she was born into that situation. She never had a choice between being there, and ran away after gettng thrown around. The 1 from GMK isn't really a trait directly related to Mothra as much as every guardian monster as they were all smaller and weaker than Godzilla. Mothra didn't really do anything that the other 2 didn't to make her stand out. Like I've said before Mothra and Ghidorah were put in that for appeal, not because it fit the story better. It's very likely the Monster who's place she had would have done all the same things. And finally as I said Tokyo SOS is essentially the exact fight sequence as Mothra vs Godzilla with MechaG thrown in. The fact she fought Godzilla as she was dying didn't really hold much weight as I'd already seen it, and done much better as there are plenty of problems with that story is SOS(for instance why did she volunteer to protect tokyo from Godzilla if they got rid of Mechag if she was dying, seems like sort of a lead on. Get rid of your best defense and I'll protect you even though I'm much weaker than I should be and there's no way in hell I can defend this all for the sake of letting the dead rest).
As I said I find her a decent monster, but after her first movie and her follow up in Godzilla the character really lost it for me. Nothing that makes her stand out personally
JAZMYE@That is the most confussing thing I have ever read. Can you make one were you speak english next time please.
Also Big BAD Ben is one of thos people who once tried to spread false news.
Everytime somebody says, that he has seen something and can't say, where he saw it. Don't trust somebody like this
During the Millennium series especially, the Ultraman movies were much more popular. The box office reciepts weren't exactly always higher, but their rate of return certainly was. The Rebirth of Mothra trilogy arguably did as well as the Heisei series and generally better than the Millennium series... save for a couple movies.
^And they have. They've let another company do the heavy lifting for them while they sit idle and reap the profits.
Interesting. I'm so curious about Kawikata's life during the 1990s right now. I'll have to do more digging about that. Certainly explains why he might think using Bandai Destroyah's was a good idea...
apparently another guy saw the new trailer:
The final shot gives us our first clear look at Godzilla. It's a daylight shot from a human's POV and you're looking up as Godzilla is walking towards you, as a door (blast shelter?) is being closed in front of you to hide from him.
The scale is just insane, and should look absolutely terrifying on the big screen before 300.

cloverfield the ride in orlando florida 3d experience , just let that sit in your minds
That would be amazing and hopefully that will come true.
I reckon he is full of it. Can't believe anything anymore unfortunately :(
I think he is lying. BUT; He is doing it in a smart way.
Think about all the stuff thats happend lately. We REALLY needed a confirmation on the 2nd trailer, and people have been bitting and ripping of heads arguing over the trailer. And most people are betting on it being with the 300 sequel.
So him lying may have been in good intention.
OR maybe not. Lol.
I read it somewhere on another forum long ago. Might have been Toho Kingdom. Perhaps Superior is a strong word. Let my rephrase that. The American cut is better mostly because of the editing. Yes, I will agree that if both versions combined into one, the film would be the best of both worlds.
A ride will be nice. imagine how big it will be O.O
i dont believe a word of this crap
@AKAGI: Let's see, figures crossed; eyes crossed; toes crossed; now's where's my lucky four-leafed clover?
An American Godzilla ride, that would be cool! How about, as an idea of what the ride would be like at the end, you're shot out of the mouth as if he/she is firing the Atomic Breath (and your ride is the look and "shape" of the Atomic Breath).
@kaijugroupie84, you have a point there.
Hmm.. sounds interesting. We'll have to wait and see if this info is true, if so then we will get our 1st peak of the American Godzilla's official full body very soon (well, a more detailed one).
also don't give this guy credit 'IF' the next trailer is in front of 300:RoaE, because i'm pretty sure most people who didn't beive that 14th of feb shit predicted it to be in front of 300 2 becuase 1. it is a legendary film, 2. it is a perfect date (in my opinion), not too late and not too early unless they are only doing 2 trailers 1. the teaser trailer 2. the official trailer.
I think this flawedCoil82 is lying
