Thanks for the replies and advise :D
a uk re-release would be nice
This is great! I wish that it would be shown in my state though.
im sorry, if it isn't signed by godzilla himself, it's a pass for me
The original film does that best for me. There are shots that look like it was some sort of documentary. (Which makes sense, Ishiro Honda was a documentary filmmaker.) Particularly some long, wide shots of Godzilla wading through the city.
the realism that was in the original godzilla film was the best, idk but i guess it was because of the atmosphere that made it seem real like it was happening as a kid growing up watching this film it was like whoa is this actually happening? i just loved the original
@godzooki
easy there man yeah you are right that more and more people will bitch about everything about godzilla and yes it has been 10 long years since we have gotten a godzilla movie i trust that they are doing the right thing with the big g.
Personally I am dreading the day when the second trailer and full bliwn marketing begins. I am anticipating lots of bitching about Godzilla's size, colour, roar, spine shape, blah, blah, blah. Just be thankful that we are getting a Godzilla movie and enjoy it.
i just hope when they release everything that it blows our minds:)
well shit thanks for the link there cobrazilla i was thinking that it was something major that was to be of good news or something those
I wouldn't say complete faith, but I have more faith in them than most people around here who generally have no idea what their talking about when it comes to marketing material.
Gotta say, in the mean time, that 1994 Godzilla looks gorgeous. Not sure I like it more than the SHMA version, but it's a pretty solid looking figure.
Yeah, the Millennium series is better at giving more characters to do things. The characters in Godzilla 2000 pretty much do the exact same thing that the main characters in Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth do: Sit on a building and watch the final fight from afar. The rest watch from a control room. Okawara directed both movies, so it wasn't much of a shock.
Godzilla x Megaguirus was a little better, even though the characters were so bland in that movie. Kiriko is doing everything she can to target Godzilla with the Griffon while Kudo reprograms the Dimension Tide and the G-Graspers uncover the treating violating politicians involved with housing nuclear experiments. For characters that were less interesting than the ones in G2K, they sure do accomplish more...
GMK... All the main characters, even the minor characters, are in the very thick of the action during the final battle. But Kaneko directed it and the whole movie is better written than anything else in the Heisei and Millennium series so it's a whole different beast as far as screenwriting goes.
The Kiryu movies, revert a little bit. The Prime Minister is often holed up in a control room, but Akane is had to manuelly control Kiryu from within and, since it's really her movie, the climax makes a lot of sense. Tokyo S.O.S. actually handles things better as Yoshito has to repair Kiryu while in the thick of battle and later be rescued by his rival. It wraps it up pretty well.
And Final Wars has its characters doing more than the monsters. For better or for worse.
vs. Biollante they simply stand around and watch from a hillside. The movie would've really benefited had the Saradian agent killed Shirigami before Biollante showed up at the end. That way both Godzilla and Dr. Kirishima would've had their battles going on at once. It would've felt a lot more like a Showa movie.
vs. King Ghidorah: Emi pilots Mecha-King Ghidorah. That's it. Everyone else watches from a control room.
vs. MechaGodzilla does a whole lot better. Most of the characters are piloting something and Asuza is in need of being rescued with Baby. This is the first movie Kazuki Omori didn't write since Godzilla 1984 so that may have something to do with it...
vs. SpaceGodzilla, the characters were piloting machines, but who cares? The battle is a boring as it gets and the characters act like there's no urgency to it half the time. They have whole conversations as if they can finish an opera before SpaceGodzilla blasts them. It's ridiculous.
vs. Destroyah, most characters are sitting in the control room watching the fight. Miki is in need of rescue by Dr. ijuin, but it's rather forced. No one actually does anything that has a lot of weight to it and the rescue attempt seems very by-the-numbers.
I suppose more does happen in the Heisei series with some characters, but it's still mild compared to the screenwriting during the 1960s and, in most cases, the 00s.
I don't understand the "hippie" mentality being any more prevelant in the Millennium series than it is in the Heisei series though. Some of it is very cultural, yes, but even Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II has a life vs. artificial life theme rammed down our throats. Battle for Earth fists that message pretty hard as well. And Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla goes as far to make up an irrelevant issue by telling us "not to pollute space". (What? We don't even exist in space!) It's pretty standard 90s-00s theme spilling.
And, Sparkzilla why do you spell it the "Hensei" series? I'm curious.
@goji
actually there is go back to the teaser here on this website and listen to it very carefully and you will here it at the end i promise it is a slight oooonnnnkkkk:)
The SH Monsterarts figures are pretty unparalleled when it comes to articulated Kaiju toys. NECA on the other hand has a reputation for limited articulation due to having more focus on a detailed sculpt. Both have pros and cons.
I would very much recommend comparing the SH Monsterarts Xenomorph to the NECA Xenomorph, as both were released within the last few months.
I will probably buy both, but beware that both NECA and Monsterarts have had serious quality control issues in the past. Many a Monsterarts Ghidorah had broken wings right out of the box, and their 94 Goji's Jaw is a little funky. And NECA's TF2 line is notorious for falling apart right out of the package, not being able to hold their weapons, poor paint applicaitons, etc.
Ultimately it comes down to personal preference and how much you want to pay. Monsterarts generally run from around 45 to as much as 130 dollars (or over 200 in Biollante's case), while NECA figures rarely go over 20 bucks. Ultimately you get what you pay for.
i know and some other website said you could hear godzilla roaring i dont know if that is true or not still would like more information about exactally what really went down there.
apprenetly there was a massive traffic jam
i was just getting ready to say the same thing there svanya most of the pre oders i have done ship out at the end of march so hang in there guys it's coming :)
i don't think a lot of ppl know this, but there is in fact a whole movie coming out in May. and it's probably 2 hours longer than the next trailer.
Trendmasters Godzilla.

First Godzilla I ever bought. Still have it. :)
We'll I'm getting both I already have every S.H.Monsterarts figure except Mothra, Biollante, Battra, and Godzilla 2000. I'm going to try to get my hands on very type of figure NECA and S.H.Monsterarts reveal. But in my opinion I would get the monsterarts if the articulation is good and the figure doesn't have to many problems.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen dominated the boxoffice. That doesn't make it a good movie. If boxoffice receipts were a reflection of quality, summer blockbusters would win best picture every year at the Oscars.
Honestly, Bigbadben, I really do enjoy the Heisei series. But in that enjoyment I realize they have a lot of issues and could've been written and directed with more care. And the special effects went on a nose dive-- which might have been a result of Kawakita's drinking habits.
Sydra, I recently discovered this information is from Guy Tucker's out-of-print book, Age of Gods. I'll have to swipe myself a digital copy somewhere...
personally i think the roar is a bit too high pitched, too much of a screech, theres "skreeee" but no "onk"
your answer is in this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_CXlv9h1MU&feature=youtube_gdata
OH MY GODZILLA! It is true, SH Monsterarts is making a figure of Godzilla 2014! I CAN'T WAIT!
i have two sh ma figure g94 and g64 but i'd probably get the neca, because unlike sh ma, you can probably get neca godzilla figure in places like toys r us, especially in the uk were it is hard to get sh figures
really pacific rim was a new movie that had little recgognition and the trailers were bad and gave the first half of the movie, magazines and other entertainment companies didn't give pacific rim enough publicity, however the godzilla trailer had a lot of coverage by the entertainment media, mtv, ign, youtube, youtube reviewers etc
unlike pacific rim, godzilla is more recognized and just 1 trailer has shown EVERYONE what this new godzilla will be like. also once the next trailer hits the internet and the embargo ends i bet you will see A LOT of coverage by entertainment channels and websites. when it comes to the general audience they don't recgognise godzilla's history, but those in the entertainment industry do.
We knew the Godzilla franchise would not be the same...
Few fans calmed down.
Most fans were impatient.
I remember the marketing of a Kaiju movie... Pacific Rim takes on the world's box office and says... now I have become an underperformer, the ignored blockbuster.
The embargo ends at the end of March I think.
Reminds me of the treatment given to Pacific Rim, instead of letting material out periodically, they flooded it out towards the end, right before the release date. It got beaten by Grown Ups 2, domestically.
Thanks InstinctiveGigan! Yeah, you could vaguely make out all the new merchandise from the banners we saw from that one photo of the display I just reported about. NECA is really planning to bank on Godzilla!
ggojira45 please stop posting all together your caps lock is on
godzilla trading cards! i can dig that
Godzilla 2014 keychain! I love keychains!!!
if it comes out, GREAT :D and if it doesnt then STOPL POSTING THINGS REGARDING RUMORD TRAILERS.
i heard the merchindise embargo ends on sometime march, so they can still biuld hype with 2 months to use all their marketing budget
When it's less than three months to your film's release and you won't even allow pictures of your merchandise willingly, then I have lost faith in your ability to succeed. You can't build up hype on Godzilla's name alone.
heres it is for those who don't like clicking links
