Here's my highlights of the series
!954: The gold standard of course. The only issue was the hand puppet for close-ups looked absurd
1962: More reptilian looking and has a great profile, though the 3/4 and head-on looks goofy
1964: Brilliant design, sleek and full of malice
1989: The popular incarnation of Godzilla. Somewhat feline head denotes cunning and the suit paired with the animatronic gave the creature life unseen in previous films
1999: Finally a green Godzilla. Again, he feels like a reptile like KingGoji, and the redish-purple spines gives him a lot more flash.
That's one leggy Godzilla! Kinda vintage looking. Pretty cool.
Well, family legend has it that I watched my first Godzilla movie on TV whilst I was still a toddler, sitting next to my dad, who had fallen asleep. My first recollections were at 5 years old and I was already a fan at that point. I do rememeber seeing Godzilla: King of the Monsters for the first time and being inconsulible for about a half hour after watching Godzilla die.
Well, KingKaijuGojira, there's almost no way you could ever have a creature as large as Godzilla or any other contemporary daikaiju rely on food of any normal variety as a tangible energy source, which is why past iterations hae had a nuclear organ system that has a self-sufficient "organic nuclear power plant" in place. I hope they don't make him rely on food, because that would really kill off the whole "force of nature thing". I don't the desire for food still being there, just not the reliance.
update: got some good criticisms, face was too "pinchy" and pointy, looked at Godzilla again and hes not that pointy, softened up and less pinched
That is amazing....so looking forward to the finish
All in interesting speculations......I suppose his true evolutionary history will be revealed on may 16th....ugh.....2 months.....so long......can't wait......I'm dying here.
I didn't remember the GINO toy with atomic breath either, but I found it. "Shatter Blast Godzilla" is what it was called:
There was also a Godzilla toy that fired an atomic blast with the New York set from Trendmasters original toy line. God I mis this thing:

i doubt it will ever happen as well, but it would be a fun movie if it happened, no doubt about that
i had g 98 toys with atomic breath as well, bu tthis godzilla is confirmed to have it.
i was just thinking of this last night 0_0
Can't wait to see this progress. Looks spot on already!
Making good progress! Looking good!
This shirt is really cool. If they keep making shirts like this it will be hard to decide which shirt to were at the movie.
That looks good, Godzilla destroying that building looks like it came from a comic
Really good man, we as fans appreciate this tribute to godzilla, especially with the busy schedule you have
My grandpa got me a zilla toy which fired something blue from his mouth, it was supposed to be the atomic breath...but we all know that aint the case for the 1998 film. Still, I really think he'll have blue atomic ray in the new film
Okay thanks very much guys! I got it!
Yes, you can totally add a new shape. the new shape will be a new subtool. And you'll have to 'append' it from the subtool palette.
I'm moderatley new to Zbrush also in the way of starting from scratch in the program. I built my base mesh in 3ds Max then imported into Zbrush and sculpted to a certain point then rebuilt the mesh to get better sculpting and topology flow. I know you could add shapes by appending the subtool you're using but also you could append a Zsphere and use Zsphere to build a rough rig which then could be transformed into a mesh to sculpt on.
Bit hard to explain, send me a PM and I can look through my bookmarks and see what Zbrush tutorials I may have saved. They could explain better than I could. :)
This has already been discused on another thread, if you have an opinion on this then leave a comment there
im growing to like the feet now, it's a completely classic like look for him.
Holy shit this is insanely well done! You are lightyears ahead of my skills, i have a question! How do you go about making the body? For example I have a head right now but thats it, ive been modeling a head, i want to start on the body, is there a way to add another sphere and shape in zbrush?
I'm a complete newb to the program, I just don't know how to approach it. And I was wondering if I eventually want to end up rigging it, are there things I should do or know before hand?
Thanks everyone
I'm thinking Godzilla would have flourished when more larger creatures such as dinosaurs exsisted. Think about it. Godzilla's large size means he'll need a lot of food. Radiation can't support muscle mass alone. Godzilla's needs protein and nutrients combined with nuclear energies to keep him going. Of course, his large size means Godzilla can live off body fat stores for years on end, and radiation stores can last for years as well. But I still think the factor of size and the life span of his food source play a role on where Godzilla would have existed in prehistoric times. Perhaps Godzilla arrived on earth during the jurassic period, when dinosaurs were going from fun-sized to super-sized.
I have a lot of the Bandai Creation figures. They were a God send for a young fan with no Godzilla toys who happened to walk into Toys R Us and loose his mind when he saw a WHOLE GODZILLA SHELF OF FIGURES!!!!!!!! In terms of the figures that you could find in a store right now, the 1954 Godzilla and King Ceasar are awesome! And if you can find the 1974 Mechagodzilla, I'd recommend him too! Gigan is pretty awesome, and Rainbow Mothra is better than the Japanese version. Imagine painting BOTH SIDES of the wings! I'd reccomend any one of those! :)
I just spent my birthday money on this bad boy... er, girl? It should be here in 5 to 8 business days. Ugh. But I'm glad I got it. :) I have all the S.H.MonsterArts figures that have been released so far, except Biollante and the Alien Warrior, and I reccomend every one of them to collectors! I'm broke, but loaded with cool figures!
@Dopepope
Nnnnnnnnnope.
@Linkzilla : Can you show me the proof? coz i never find zilla toy with atomic breath action..
I'm thinking somewhere more along the lines of post-carboniferous. That's when life started taking some HUGE steps, figuratively and literally, in terms of what was around. Amphibious creatures were bouncing around left and right between land and sea, giant arthropods were commonplace, and natural radiation was quite high in places. Plus, who says it has to be one particular era of radioactivity?
I'm thinking more along the lines of a primary starting source of nuclear adaptation, followed by subsequent hibernation and top-off periods in eras of radioactive bounties, slowly but surely growing what would become effectively living gods.
Y'know, there were GINO toys with "Atomic Breath action" too, and we all know how that turned out... I'm just sayin'.
I think it would be more unbelievable for such huge and complex creatures to evolve in a time where, IMHO, there was very little multicellular life at all. Especially since one of them looks like a dinosaur. They could easily have existed for millions of years after the K/T extinction.
What about his design? They didn't get that right either.
Well there is'nt a ebirah creation but bandai did make a figure
@SLIRPYZ
That's because I'm too awesome for them.
Does this suggest that G's mouth is going to hyperextend open like that in the film too?
