Ok, seeing that we know Godzilla is a natural creature that evolved millions of years ago are you guys not curios about how these creatures came to be!

Well these creatures could of evolved in the pre-Cambrian stage of the world as we know little about it and ....it's a sci-fi flick. They could however of came into being after earth was struck by the meteorite that killed off the dinosauria but this would mean mammals couldn't of existed at that time and ...they did but then again as i said it is sci-fi. All we really know is the world would have to of been heavily irradiated which has led to these creatures, after awakening, seeking out and leeching radiation from various sources as the world has since been rid of the radiation.

i think, personally, that these animals and their "foes" are pre-Cambrian as they would have taken a substantial amount of time to evolve and if they were to exist after the meteorite then this time would be greatly shortened, not allowing the transformation of these monstrosities. I think that if Gareth were ever to do a sequel their aincent environment would be an interesting place to both design and explore

Let me know your thoughts on our favourite monsters back garden!

How far can we push nature before it pushes back?

it makes you wonder if......

to be fair this is a good speculation but i do agree it would have taken years for them to evolve or to quote a scientist

Haha .....ya the size and strange appearance of the things would have taken millions of years...."LIFE FINDS A WAY"

Yea a I like believe godzilla florshed during the precambrian era

I think it would be more unbelievable for such huge and complex creatures to evolve in a time where, IMHO, there was very little multicellular life at all. Especially since one of them looks like a dinosaur. They could easily have existed for millions of years after the K/T extinction.

I'm thinking somewhere more along the lines of post-carboniferous. That's when life started taking some HUGE steps, figuratively and literally, in terms of what was around. Amphibious creatures were bouncing around left and right between land and sea, giant arthropods were commonplace, and natural radiation was quite high in places. Plus, who says it has to be one particular era of radioactivity?

I'm thinking more along the lines of a primary starting source of nuclear adaptation, followed by subsequent hibernation and top-off periods in eras of radioactive bounties, slowly but surely growing what would become effectively living gods.

I'm thinking Godzilla would have flourished when more larger creatures such as dinosaurs exsisted. Think about it. Godzilla's large size means he'll need a lot of food. Radiation can't support muscle mass alone. Godzilla's needs protein and nutrients combined with nuclear energies to keep him going. Of course, his large size means Godzilla can live off body fat stores for years on end, and radiation stores can last for years as well. But I still think the factor of size and the life span of his food source play a role on where Godzilla would have existed in prehistoric times. Perhaps Godzilla arrived on earth during the jurassic period, when dinosaurs were going from fun-sized to super-sized.

All in interesting speculations......I suppose his true evolutionary history will be revealed on may 16th....ugh.....2 months.....so long......can't wait......I'm dying here.

Well, KingKaijuGojira, there's almost no way you could ever have a creature as large as Godzilla or any other contemporary daikaiju rely on food of any normal variety as a tangible energy source, which is why past iterations hae had a nuclear organ system that has a self-sufficient "organic nuclear power plant" in place. I hope they don't make him rely on food, because that would really kill off the whole "force of nature thing". I don't the desire for food still being there, just not the reliance.

TheGman123, They probably won't show him feeding. All I'm sugesting is that when radiation is scarce, Godzilla may feed on animals as a substitute. perhaps only immature Godzilla's hunt prey. In Godzilla vs Destoroyah, Godzilla Jr. killed whales. And I read online that in the original movie, Godzilla was supposed to make his first appearence with a cow in his mouth but it was cut because they feared in be too graphic. And in Godzilla vs Biollante, Godzilla was supposed to fight a giant rat monster (whose name I have forgotten) where he would have killed and consumed it but it wascut because of fear for it being too graphic. Plus Godzilla porbably evolved over time, like every other species. Perhaps he evolved to a point where food was no longer needed, and replaced it with a need to absorb radiation. I for one like the thought that Godzilla will feed on another organism every once in a while. It adds a little realism to the character.

Having Godzilla feed on other organisms would really just make him less realistic, if anything. The nuclear reactor stomach thing neatly explains how he produces enough energy to move, why he is able to live without oxygen and how his atomic breath works all at once.

There's a theory online regarding this.

It involves Godzilla evolving after the meteor hit so he could absorb the radiation.

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."
