"'Daikaju' is not a scientific term."
No sh*t, Sherlock.
"In any case this sauropod was a herbivore, not the primarily carnivore look which the Godzilla design was based on."
What does that have to do with anything?
"This is already categorized as a dinosaur, Not a kaiju. Kaiju are usually from fictional books, or movies, or ledgend."
Because there are no kaiju in all of fiction that are dinosaurs... that would be preposterous! *coughgodzillaanguirusbaragongorosaurusandcountlessotherscough* In all seriousness, though I'm pretty sure there have been plenty of kaiju that are just naturally evolved, unmutated dinosaurs.
"This is a dinosaur, It is also not a fully complete skeleton, Only a sole vertebrae was discovered. Even the scale of it is assumed, we have yet to recover an actual full skeleton."
The same is true for pretty much all dinosaurs. I fail to see how this is relevant.
All of your arguments fail to explain why this creature could not be considered a daikaiju. Once again, isn't the only qualifying trait of a daikaiju that it is a giant creature?
Did you saw Gareth's epic t-shirt??? :DD
I just ran out to toys r us and purchased The jakkspacific giant Godzilla and destruction city figures for my children. I'm very pleased with the quality of the figures. Looking forward to them coming home from school!
In the original Godzilla, it is all but directly stated that he was at the center of a thermonuclear explosion and survived, and that nothing that is not stronger than an H-bomb can harm him (when Dr. Yamane said “Godzilla was baptized in the fire of the H-bomb. What could kill it now?”). If that's not good enough, watch this documentary at 3:20. Akira Ifukube says (referring to WWII) "In the end the Japanese had fought with all their spirit, but it was modern technology [the atomic bomb] that defeated them.", and then "Godzilla is undefeated by modern technology.", and finally, if even that is not stating it directly enough, "He is stronger than the weapons that brought Japan to it's knees."
I know stating any of this may seem unnecessary now that the G2014 trailer has shown him surviving being nuked, but I just wanted put this out there in case a certain someone who used to write many multi-page rants on this site (you know who I'm talking about) tried to argue, "Well classic Godzilla still would totes be killed by nukes."
People might not know what the heck you're talking about. Link to the old discussion, or better yet just use that old discussion to have people post their pics.

Man, I wish I was there! :/ That would have been an incredible experience. But that just means I will be surprised when the movie comes out! I've waited 10 years, another 57 days, 11 hours, 32 minutes, and 15 seconds won't kill me...
But it will drive me CRAZY!!!!!!!! 8D
Thats a great tease! :DD can't wait!!!!!!!!!!
I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE!
my reaction to the audiences reaction to the sxsw footage they don't show in the youtube video:
I want footage!
@PetedJog, roughly 6 inches tall, and thank you for the compliment :)
The more I look at this design, the more I like it. At first it felt kinda clunky and awkward, but I like it a lot now. The unpainted makes it easier to see the details, and I think it's positioned better.
I think they did a good job of maintaining that original judo stance and style. I bet he's going to look amazing in the film!
This is great, you have some serious tallent. how tall is it?
Gorgo!
Oh, wait a minute...
Those can count @Godzillahimself. @Godzillarim post them on This thread http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/32536
AW! It's so adorable!
:D..I think it looks great! Nice job, I wish I had one like that now.
Guys, Godzilla does not have gills. He has never had gills and therefor never should. How long can a blue whale hold its breath? A long ass time. Now Godzilla is way bigger, so he should be able to hold his breath almost indefinitley. NO GILLS!
Thanks GMAN, that clears things up.
Godzilla will never die to the army because godzilla is too Strong for the armies little tanks and battle cars and the tiny jets but if they add another monster like mothra 3
It was bound to happen. Could be a beautiful renaissance for all things Kaiju in these coming times. Thanks to PacRim and now G2014!
Id grab my autograph book.
Go outside.
And then chase him to the end of the earth to get his autograph! Schwarzenegger didnt escape my autograph book, and NEITHER WILL GODZILLA! NOTHING WILL STOP ME!
Grab some boxing gloves and prepare for the fight of my life
It's very close, but I remember it was very hard for me to find a VHS copy of Terror of Mechagodzilla so I didn't have it till much later, whereas I had Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla from a very young age. So for nostalgia's sake I have to go with Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla.
The fight vs anguirus, the pseudo Godzilla vs godzilla scene. King Ceasar being 1 of my favorite kaiju if only because he's much different than all the others. The scenes of Godzilla getting brutally beaten down to the point blood was spewing out his neck but still fighting. The huamn character are all interesting and something is always happening whether that is escaping the alien's base, or keeping King Ceasar's statue safe. Just a really good movie especially when compared to the 3 that came before it. It really brought the showa back and made it so Terror of MechaGodzilla could end on a strong note.
Gamera, huh? Im excited, although i havent seen any of the Gamera movies, but i have always really wanted to watch them, they look like fun. I guess is should get my behind up and see if i can find some of them.
But i wonder how a modern day Gamera movie is going to be. I really hope they wont take it all to serious, and i also hope we will see some of those cool villains i`ve seen and heard of back.
Yes! It's about time for him to make a come back. I hope they give Gamera an ally besides the children of the world. Hasn't anyone else noticed how Gamera doesn't have a single monster ally. I hope he fights Gyaos again. The Gyaos are my favorite of his enemies after Iris. The Gyaos used to give me nightmares when I was younger, but I out grew them.
1954, 1964, 1991-1995, 2004, 2014.
If you want to talk about Gamera, you have to include the 90's Gamera trilogy (Gamera: Guardian of the Universe in 95, Gamera: Attack of Legion in 96 and Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris in '99).
The 90's Gamera trilogy was, in my humble opinion, the best Gamera films. Great effects for a kaiju films and more involving characters. In fact, I will go so far as to say the 90's Gamera trilogy is actually better than some of the Heisei-era Godzilla films. Its not surprising that Shusuke Kaneko, the director of the Gamera trilogy, was also the director for GMK (Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack), considered by many to be the best Godzilla film of the Millenium era.
@Deadite Kaiju
Skip ahead and pick up the Gamera Trilogy immediately! Every kaiju fan must see those wonderful films-- the best of modern daikaiju.
I agree with Gman, I think Terror was the better one.
The original and the heisei series roars are the best in my opinion.
Sounds cool, I like Gamera although I have only seen the very first one. Before it's release I might buy all the Gamera films on DVD and have a marathon.
I live in "tornado Alley" of N. Central Texas. I would treat Godzilla like a Tornado. If you can see it moving, stay where you are, photograph and observe. If it doesn't appear to be moving only getting LARGER, it is heading directly toward you! Run until you can tell it is not heading toward you. you would then hunker down until it passes by. Unfortunately, tornadoes do not have Atomic Breath! Therefore, do not run toward anything that may incur his wrath.(tanks, cannons, aircract aproaching or bright light sources).
@Smaug,
Yeah right here: http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/32368
It's buried pretty far down and... oddly, not even in the same section. Not that either should matter, but I'm going to give this thread a pass just this once. Lets make sure we have no more repeat threads on this topic fellas.
I've already put up the money for this. I really hope it happens. Would be more than happy to take a drive up there to see this kind of concert.
I've been doing the same thing. I hope you enjoy it in a new light, it's certainly a film worth studying. Very fine and mature directorial effort by Honda.
