Eh... After going through so many of these threads I got to say I like ALL his designs in some way or another.
But my vote goes to the Gido-Goji, 1991 suit. I've always had a soft spot for how muscular he looked in that one. It was also the last Heisei suit to have brown eyes which looked a lot more realistic than the yellow irises he got for the rest of the series.
I really like the 2014 design, but it probably lands somewhere in the middle of my "favorites" list.
"Godzilla's atomic breath even scrambles micro black holes fired at him from orbit!"
You know... I never thought about it, but that fact right there might make the Godzilla from GxM one of the most powerful incarnations.
^Im pretty sure Borenstien said it was most likely going to be PG-13 on Twitter. But you're right, PG-13 is pretty obvious. It's the rating with the most mass appeal and box office promise.
^You can also have a dark, well made movie and it not be R. Besides you kind of argued against your point there. Jaws and Godzilla 1984 were both PG... that does not mean "R" today. In fact, by today's standards, that probably means they were closer to G.
Ok, here's the answer; Gareth Edwards is no Michael Bay.
Gareth is not a horny bastard like Mr. Boner Bay, Gareth is not stupid enough to put rediculously unfunny jokes in the movie, and Gareth knows how to put up a perfect story.
So peeps, no worries about the movie's ratings, it's obviously PG-13, please tell me im not the only one here who should already know that's the rating they're gonna use?
Sorry dunno what happened at the start of that post my iPad's auto correct had a brain-fart I think!
This is pretty much what the MUTO is going to look like.
Excellent job.
Well up until recently it was the GMK desigheading my eyes it was the first design to have really nailed the original look of foreboding & darkness that the '54 version conveyed. Those whited-out eyes really did the trick too!
That being said, having now seen it the 2014 is just gorgeous (sorry lol no other word for it!). And as far as creating a believable design, I believe Gareth Edwards & Co have absolutely nailed it. So I'd say now I'd say the 2014 design:)
It can be r rated, and not have sex in it! Come on guys it's the king of the monsters. 1954 was more of a horror movie ,people were scared of this guy. He wasn't walking around saving people this time he was killing them. If it was rated back then it would be r. Godzilla 1985 was concidred r, even know it was pg which stood for perental guidence. bryon Cranston said its kinda like jaws! Jaws is rated pg which know means r. you can't say the rating is pg-13 till the movie is rated. If you want to bring in very young kids hey that's ok, but most of the minority will be teens and early adults. If your a young kid who wants to see a R rated godzilla movie, and your parents won't let you? Tough shit your going have to deal with it. But we all will see this movie and no matter what the rating is, Hey? It's fucking godzilla and he's back baby whoooooo!
@Cockzilla,
It's real. It's just a typical, mass production, assembly image slapped together in a sloppy photoshop fashion and used on all sorts of merchandise, toys, walls scrolls...etc...etc... It looks awful because it's cheap and calculated. All sorts of marketing subsidiaries make cheap images like this to slap on related products. Look at this:

All of these images are as fugly as all hell, but none of them were official, theatrical posters. The images on these posters, including the Godzilla poster we're speaking of, were meant to be put on products: Toys, cups, pens, t-shirts, promotional ads...etc... They just ended up making posters out of these cheap images because kids buy them and it makes studios more money. That's exactly what this new Godzilla poster is. A product image blown up to be a poster so kids will buy it. Happens all the time.
OooOOoooh, 18" TALL? Now that's a game-changer!
In all seriousness though. I hope this happens to be just a bootleg poster and legendary bust these guys. Shoddy posters kinda ruin a movie for non-fans and we don't want that of course. :p
Godzillasaurus...you are prob right; too many sources to remember and I do believe it was from that special screening. Still, NOBODY can always keep a secret...someone will break lol. I've always thought it's a second Godzilla so we'll see. Or maybe a Mothra-Rodan tagteam? JUST KIDDING! I know we can't speak their names for fear the self-anointed experts will strike us down.
will if you have tweeter then you should ask NECA why they are making it idk why i just thought it was cool
If this is what I saw over at TohoKingdom's forum, this figure would be 18" tall, not 18" long. So…we're talking pretty big. If this follows the same height/length ratio as the 6" and 12" tall NECAs that are on their way, the 18" would be 36" long (or head-to-tail as it were). This would be similar in size to the JAKKS Pacific with the detail of NECA's highend stuff (re: Pacific Rim) and probably three times the cost.
@DURATOK: I agree with you pal, if NECA already has a 6" and 12" they don't really need another one. Now I think they should make the 1954 Gojira and the 1998 Zilla as NECA figures.
Godzilla 90s
Godzilla 2000
Godzilla 2004
Godzilla 2014
Yeah, I don't understand this. An 18" 2014 figure? They already have two 2014 figures coming out, why do we need a third that's in between those two sizes? I'd rather they make figures for other Godzilla designs. NECA needs to get back on track and give us a 1984 Godzilla. There's not enough of those in the world. I'd also love a 74/75 Godzilla to add to the bin.
did you watch the vid neca said it.
If it's a success I imagine we'll see a slight resergence in that actual kaiju genre in Japan and the toku style of filmmaking.
Already, Gamera is prepping for another movie both for it's 50th anniversary and in anticipation of the new Godzilla. The new Kikaider looks pretty spectacular as well-- Although Sentai and Kamen Rider is still alive and kicking, this new Kikaider looks like a whole different beast compared to those.
Ultraman Victory is rumored as well, so hopfully the Ultra series will continue and rebound after the awful Ultraman Ginga.
In America it might get other imitators rolling as well as studios fast tracking sequels to Cloverfield and Pacific Rim.
But all of this is the best case scenerio. If it flops we'll see the exact opposite. Projects will most likely be shelved and I wouldn't expect another Godzilla movie for a good two decades or more.
I don't recall Zilla ever using a breath attack. The closest that movie got was when he screamed at a car and it exploded.
They've got a 12" and a 24" one, I don't think they need an 18". I'd rather they start making other NECA Godzilla figures. I'd love to see G'84 or Zilla.
my b-day is 7/16/2002 if gamespider22 can answer me what is your b-day and thats how we know who is younger but your real b-day.
We can probably see Gamera make himself relevant again because of this. Which means a new monster or two for him to fight! That alone make me happy. Maybe a totally new hero monster in Japan will emerge. Or a Japanese revivial of the series with a new foe!
I REALLY hope it's more than once. Aside from being big that's like Godzillas signature trait. Even Godzilla 98 used his "breath" more than once.
Really? Shows how long I've been looking at this site XD
this is quite old news, the description of the "battle damaged" godzilla came out last year so this would belong in the merch thread
I apologize for not remembering the exact one of bazillion threads/posts/articles I've read web-wide, but there was something written about the Halo jump. Nautilus (Godzilla) was down and injured (this is the damaged Godzilla you speak of)? Remember Gareth said what they see on the ground is not what it appears to be in the Halo jump clip? Matter of fact, he said it was like 400 times better (or something like that). Here are two possible scenarios, could it be Godzilla is being attacked by a horde of mutos, or could it be the second godzilla is coming to the rescue after first one is killed by mutos? Could be the sequel premise. Dang it, can't believe not a single person who viewed that sequence has spilled the beans. Then again, do I really need to know? hmmmmm... yes..no..yes NO...YEA YES YES!
