Toys 'R' Us Godzilla Toy Listing Potentially Reveals Major Plot Point

Before I start, I know that this could, and probably should, go in the merchendising thread. However, as this potentially contains a plot point in the movie, deserves its own topic. Let's get started!

I don't live in the US. I'm a Canadian, in fact, and I was very much hoping to get some figures in my country, who wouldn't be? So, I skeptically looked up Godzilla on our all-Canadian Toys 'R' Us (Heehee, lol) website, and the Chibis were listed there. Then I noticed the title of the pack with Godzilla and the 8 technically 6 legged Muto. It was this:

Godzilla - Chibi Figure 2 Pack - Damaged Godzilla + Muto (8 legged)

(Source) Note how it says "Damaged Godzilla." Why would it say that? It is a Godzilla 2014 toy after all. That said, it doesn't have any special features, at least not that I noticed. Anyway, if it is a "Damaged" Godzilla, what does that mean? It has to do with something with the movie! A plot point?

Now time for some speculation. So, why was Godzilla "Damaged?" I would speculate that Godzilla was injured in the first battle with one or both, or maybe then 2, of the Mutos, or perhaps in a flashback.

Anyway, what do you think? Do you think this deserved its own topic (InstintiveGigan)? Do you think this is a plot point, or something to differentiate this Godzilla from the other Chibi? Thanks for reading :D

Yeah I think the MUTO can absorb flesh/organic matter. Therefore, when Godzilla was injured, he was able to absorb it, and evolve or transform into it's multi-legged form

I apologize for not remembering the exact one of bazillion threads/posts/articles I've read web-wide, but there was something written about the Halo jump. Nautilus (Godzilla) was down and injured (this is the damaged Godzilla you speak of)?  Remember Gareth said what they see on the ground is not what it appears to be in the Halo jump clip? Matter of fact, he said it was like 400 times better (or something like that).  Here are two possible scenarios, could it be Godzilla is being attacked by a horde of mutos, or could it be the second godzilla is coming to the rescue after first one is killed by mutos?  Could be the sequel premise. Dang it, can't believe not a single person who viewed that sequence has spilled the beans. Then again, do I really need to know?  hmmmmm... yes..no..yes  NO...YEA  YES  YES!

this is quite old news, the description of the "battle damaged" godzilla came out last year so this would belong in the merch thread

Garyzilla, it wasn't Gareth Edwards who said that the HALO jump scene contained something that made the film "400 times more awesome" but instead one of the sources that saw the special screening of 20 minutes of the film. Gareth Edwards told every person who saw the footage to keep it a secret, and yet they all still claimed that it was something that 1) we aren't expecting, and 2) is very awesome. I doubt it will be anything Muto-related

Godzillasaurus...you are prob right; too many sources to remember and I do believe it was from that special screening. Still, NOBODY can always keep a secret...someone will break lol. I've always thought it's a second Godzilla so we'll see. Or maybe a Mothra-Rodan tagteam? JUST KIDDING! I know we can't speak their names for fear the self-anointed experts will strike us down.

Perhaps the "Damaged Godzilla" is simply a gimmick within the toy line - much like the "dino-danage" from early Jurassic Park toys? Regardless, I think the idea of a chibi godzilla is absolutely precious! I want one of those little darlings as soon as possible! :)

I've actually been meaning to post a topic about this for some time.  I haven't heard many people talking about the Damaged Godzilla for a while, and the Godzilla chibi that is packaged in the 8 Legged Muto definitely has battle damage.  I've seen people complain about factory errors on their toys, but its all intended and on purpose damage in the sculpt.  I own the pack, and the Godzilla features missing scales on both legs, and deep scratches and gouges on his chest and tail.  Its not as drastic as I had imagined (I had crazy images of missing fingers and cracked/blown off spines in my mind!), but its still some serious damage to Godzilla!  I have a feeling Godzilla's battles with the Mutos will definitely leave him beat up, and chances are we will see him get progressively more scratched and messed up as the film goes on, like Batman in Arkham Asylum! :)

This isn't without precident though.  Godzilla vs Hedorah featured Godzilla get progressively more beat up as the film went on.  By the end, he had a messed up eye, no skin on his hand, and he had been beaten, dropped, submerged in slime, and nearly suffocated!  So he can take a lickin', but keep on kickin'! :D

actually if you look very closely at the toy (chibi) you'll see that godzilla's leg has lost some skin (scales) and godzilla's tail  lost the scutes so my guess? the 8-legged muto beat godzilla up pretty bad (maybe this is the halo jump scene?)

Sorry for being so late with the response, but I tend to avoid any topics involved with spoilers. But yes, this can be it's own topic. It's about merchandising, but it's not really talking about the merchandising itself.

...or you know, it could just be battle damage???  I just got the figures today and that's what it appers to be.  They are ancient enemies after all, I'm sure the Mutos are just about as strong as Godzilla so I'm sure they could inflict some damage.
