Statzman 44:  I don't trust critics either.  They tend to feed off of each other.  And they are prone to convincing themselves, and each other, that certain movies are better than they are.  I just watched "12 Years a Slave" and I couldn't understand what was the big deal.  Same with "Argo", and "Slumdog Millionaire", and "The Hurt Locker" and on and on.  However, when it comes to special effects movies, their consensus opinion gives us a pretty good idea how the movie will play.  Check out WWW.Rottentomatoes.com.  If the Godzilla 2014 score is 85 and up, you can pretty much believe that it will be an exciting movie.  But if the score is below 50, you can bet the movie will suck (at least to many of us).  Godzilla 1998 scored a 25.  Godzilla: King of the Monsters scored a 83.  I'm going to quess that Godzilla 2014 will score above 90, which will guarantee a world-wide box office of over a billion dollars.  And if that happens, you can be sure that there will be sequels to come (wouldn't it be cool to remake "Ghidrah, the Three Headed Monster").

Thanks for sharing this. What doesn't make sence to me is the fact that a jumbo jet airplane is like around 60 feet tall (source: internet). In the shot, you see a car nearby to it and it looks like it is nearly the size of the plane. Hmmmm.....

Putting faith in film critics is extremely foolish as everyone has different opinions. 

I remember watching that American Hustle movie a while back that all the "critics" were saying was amazing and while watching it, I wondered if I have ever been so bored by a movie in my entire life.

I agree everyone blows it a bit out of proportion, but even I am pretty tired of that "Rodan Confirmed" thing. That joke isn't particularly funny anymore to be honest, and Junkerde is kind of stomping into the ground.

P.S. Ratedrex, I don't truly trust film critics not all of their comments about a film are going to effect my decision on seeing this movie. For example of a critic (who knows anyways but it's my theory) lets say that most critics in their own taste prefer to watch true story movies or romantic type and or some thriller movies and here they are getting paid to give their opinion on a sci-fy/fantasy and action packed adventure and they give it bad reviews. Will you alone take that in account and let them judge for you or will you judge for yourselfs and don't get me wrong, please but there are some movies that are better to wait for DVD/Blue ray. I just watched the legend of hercules and there where cool special effects but the story and acting seem B rated for me, I kind of wished I waited for it to come to DVD/Blue ray. Godzilla showed enough footage in their trailers to make me a believer and I think Godzilla is worth going to the theaters to watch on the big screen and if Toho likes it, I think they have good taste in this movie.

The rodan jokes work so well because out there I think there probably is someone that still thinks rodan is confirmed.

The only thing that matters is Godzilla 2014 looks fantastic and the story so far that we know of seems to fit perfectly into this movie but seeing is believing. I trust this movie will do very, very well and if Toho the creaters of Godzilla like it, I'm going to like it as well. Regardless of how many good or bad movies they made of Godzilla, by what I've seen, I trust my instincts and I believe this movie will kick ass.

No one knows better about the quality of their own creation than the creator. I agree with that statement 100%.

I is good to hear the Toho, The CREATORS OF GODZILLA, THE KING OF ALL MONSTERS liked the film. This is going to be a great movie.

Gamera '96/'99 would be welcomed editions. And, holy hell, a Legion would be as impressive, if not more so, than a Biollante.

Of course, ratedrex does seem a tad unfair to suggest most Toho Godzilla flicks are bad...but otherwise I get his larger point that not all Toho Godzilla movies are good.

D2K-I get your point, but I don't think ratedrex is trolling by any means. There are good and not-so-good Godzilla movies, I personally love them all (even the bad ones), but the fact is, Godzilla movie qualities varies and is not uniformly good. I won't go so far as to they say most Toho Godzilla flicks are bad as ratedrex said, that's not fair in my opinion. However,  some are indeed better than the others. Of course, the very best one (the original) was made by Toho.

I agree Godzilla 98 was the worst Godzilla flicks of all time, as well as one of the worst movies of all time.  But lets not pretend that ToHo Godzilla movies rival the Godfather movies.  The original Godzilla was great.  I saw it in 1963 as a 7-year-old.  Ghidrah, The Three Head Monster was great, and maybe Godzilla 2000.  But rest were so-so to flat-out horrific.  I know this is a Godzilla website, so I will hit a few nerves if I'm not glowing with praise for ToHo, but I'm just being honest.  And just because ToHo created the Godzilla franchise doesn't mean that they know any more than anyone else.  If they knew so much about what makes a good Godzilla movie, they should have made better movies.  I'm happy they loved it.  I hope to love it too.  I've been waing for decades to see what Hollywood can do with Godzilla, using a big budget, great actors and state of the arts special effects.  Something ToHo never did.
