NO blue oyster cult! I think they should end with godzillas theme from this movie. Hands down. We need to froget about the old and in with the new. This is the example of the atomic bomb and godzilla is that example. The tone of the movie should be serious till the end of the credits! That's how good movies are recognized period!

I absolutely LOVE the King Kong remake and as matter of fact, I like it better than the original. I have seen it at least 15 times (not exaggerating) and is one of my all time favourites. I find it strange that people would hate on such a good film. I completely agree DaiKaiju.

The March Madness battle was already one-sided in Godzilla's favor anyway. He could plow through Nolan's Batman no problem at all.

Heck, even Facebook (which is known for it's stupidity) is smart enough to know that it was one-sided.

I just watched this movie today (rounding out and finalizing that I have finally watched all of the currently released films), and I must say that I LOVED it.

Being both a huge Godzilla fan, and an equally huge King Kong fan, I will say that I was torn horribly between who to root for! The way it ended, I personally can't see why the implied that Kong won. From my perspective, it would seem like that, having fallen into the ocean where Godzilla has an advantage, Kong just KO'd Godzilla and ran [swam]. 'Cause, y'know, water+electricity+reptiles= ouch.

A remake, I'm not honestly too hot about as, again, I'd be torn on who to root for, and because it just might not work like it did back then.

I don't believe it has anything to do with an NCAA rights issue. Dozens of people are always using a March Madness bracket for fun purposes. Now if Legendary created the contest one theory could be that maybe Godzilla was going to get trounced by Batman and the studio wanted to avoid any embarrassment. It's more likely that someone at Legendary dropped the ball and forgot about the contest.

@YooSuq- Now that is harsh and kind of uncalled for.

As for what you brought forth Frognation, as popular as this concept is, I have more than moderate doubts that there will be a song like that here.

But my God(zilla) if there is, I hope it's Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla" in the credits. That will make me laugh, cry, cheer and clap all at once, if the movie itself doesn't already have me doing that.

That's a great article. Thanks for the information. I will most likely spend the money to get the upcoming blu-rays though I find it humorous that so many versions of various Godzilla titles exist and that I already own.

Question: you mentioned in the article that Sony relinquished the right to several Showa titles. What are they and is there any chance that a company such as Classic Media will buy the rights and work their magic like they did on their earlier releases?

I don't think we'll see that, and I honestly hope we don't need that. For a movie like this we don't need songs with lyrics, we need music to set the tone.

A 2 hour movie really means about 1:52 minutes, because the end credits are usually about 6-8 minutes long.  A movie like Godzilla will usually have one hour to set-up the plot and an hour or so for the payoff.  Lets hope the movies runs  from 2:00 to 2:10.

I don't get too upset if fans pick fun at each other, I think its healthy, but the trolling stuff is more annoying than anything. It fricken drives a subject so far off topic its rediculous.

I think my first experience was watching Godzilla Vs. Megalon as part of a string of movies that would air on Thanksgiving. It would air on WOR channel 9 in New York and was as traditional as your football games and the parade. Other movies included King Kong, Mighty Joe Young, and Terror of MechaGodzilla, one of my personal favorites. I remember this being one of my first experiences with Godzilla because I saw him as the good guy or hero and didn't quite understand what was going on when I saw the original Godzilla from 1954 airing at 2:00 am and saw Godzilla as the antagonist or villain. I seriously thought that the annoying humans had done something to anger Godzilla. I then saw the ending where he dies from the oxygen destroyer and didn't quite understand how Godzilla could live until I saw Godzilla Raids Again years later.

When I last saw any news on it it was godzilla vs allan from The Hangover and it looked like godzilla was going to win overwhelmingly

Yes I have it listed in that thread I posted above. The Gamera Legacy collection is DVD only and since I already own the Heisei Gamera Trilogy on Bluray it actually makes more sense for me to get the Bluray collections of the Showa series than the Legacy set. Thanks for the heads up though.

Huh, I didn't even stop to think it might have been legal/copyright issue. I have heard that the NCAA can be be ruthless about that kind of stuff.

I do wish Legendary would say something about to confirm at least some type of explanation. But I guess on any list of things it wouldn't be considered a 'big deal'. I am stoked for advance purchase tickets :-) :-) :-)

@DANNYBLAZOR Yeah, I originally thought it was going to be a 100% popularity contest, and that's how it would have ended. 

Then the whole 'Alan beat Zod' thing happened. I still have trouble swallowing the legitimacy of that, but it renewed my engagement in the contest with a 'anything can happen' sort of spirit. Then the contest vanished :-(
