Second most anticipated movie of May? Second? I feel outraged.
What's in first?
Well, Bryan Singer did return after having left before those iffy X-Men movies were released, so, I guess I can see why it's so anticipated for that reason.
But, the X-Men only have 6 movies, and Godzilla's got 28, so... Why isn't Godzilla in the lead already? He's had much more exposure.
Apparently not, TrickKelly, cause there's already another one planned for 2016.
but this is entitled to some ones opinion! Godzilla was numer 1 for most anticipated film of the year from MOJO youtube channel! So in my mind godzilla is number 1. not x-men or any other film. look it up on youtube. So this post dosent mean anything to me.
This is more then opinion it's the result of a poll on the comingsoon.net website. so far over 6000 people have taken the poll. Still early because it just started this morning. I don't understand how you dismiss one and embrace the other. I've seen many polls on youtube and everywhere else. Most of them don't have Godzilla as #1. That's why as fans we need to show up big time and try to influence others to go see it so it will make enough money to justify a sequel. Having said all of that I'm willing to bet that fans who said X-Men or Spider-Man will most likely go and check out Godzilla as well.
A lot of websites and news outlets actually have Godzilla ranked as the most anticipated film of the year
If anyone in here truly believes that Godzilla is the most antipated anything is comical. Spidey2 and Xmen are sequals which sequals always do better than a first installment of a franchise.
Plus Spidey1 and last Xmen was a million times better than Zilla98 so people will naturally rather see that. I no Godzilla will do well but everybody in here has way to high of expectations.
@Mikeynamez EXACTLY!!! Sometimes we can be blinded by our own fandom and not see how something we love so much ourselves is not always a shared passion by all.
@REGGIE1138 BINGO! you got it brother. I'm hoping that it breaks even because that would be considered a success. Any more than that is a bonus and hopefully will get us a sequal or 2.
Haha! Looks like your thread helped a little.
Godzilla is #1 on ComingSoon.net's poll now, with 40% of the 7500 ish votes.
X-Men has slid to #2, with 37% of the vote.
Granted, I objectively know that both X-Men and Spiderman are more anticipated, and will make more money. However, Godzilla is holding it's own in the anticipation department; way more so than I would have earlier anticipated. It should be a much more close box office competition than I originally gave it credit for.
@mikeynamez
I think you're really under playing the anticipation for this movie. The trailer alone has over 20 million views on youtube, and it certainly isn't all from hardcore Godzilla fans. A lot of non-G fans I know keep talking to me about the new film and how excited they are. Godzilla IS one of the most anticipated films of not just May but of 2014, to both fans and non fans.
well to be fair, Godzilla's overall view counts are WAY behind X-Men and Spiderman.
The most watched trailer for the new X-Men holds over 26 million views, while Spiderman has 29 million for its most popular trailer. Godzilla's only has 21 million.
Similar stories are told when you look at the number of facebook 'likes', number of twitter followers, so on and so forth for each movie.
I think Mikey is correct when he says that Godzilla is squarely behind Spiderman and X-Men in terms of anticipation.
However, Godzilla doesn't need to beat Spiderman or X-Men. It just needs to make enough money to warrent its own sequel. To that end, Spiderman and X-Men can each make $999,999,999 Billion at the Box Office, so long as Godzilla clears its own $500 mil, I'll be happy.
And that $500 million goal looks more and more realistic every day :-)
Just because people watch youtube videos doesnt mean they will pay 10+$ to see it in a theater.
I think @MADISON said it best
