I think my second Godzilla movie was Godzilla 1998 before getting the entire Japanese Godzilla set on VHS via my Uncle
this one is an improvement but I would have drastically changed the MonsterVerse starting with KOTM. I personally would have kept Godzilla having a Balancer Role from 2014 rather than an Alpha Role from KOTM
Oh, okie dokie then. What's your favorite movie out of these?
sonictiger,
There are plans for an international release. Details have yet to be announced.
Sonic should be ahead of The Bad Guys tbh. Also, is Shin Ultraman playing in the US?
UPDATE 5/20/2022:
Minor update, but it's worth noting that Shin Ultraman was the #4 top grossing movie in the world last weekend. Just another stat to notch onto Tsuburaya/Toho's belt going into a hopefully lucrative weekend #2.
Before going into the weekend, I want to address something I've been seeing a lot of lately.
English box office outlets are reporting that Shin Ultraman opened bigger than Shin Godzilla and this isn't exactly correct. They're specifically claiming that Shin Ultraman's opening 3-day total, which is $7.7 million, is bigger than Shin Godzilla's 3-day opening total. The problem is outlets like Crunchyroll aren't using Shin Godzilla's 3-day total, they continue to use its 2-day total of $6.1 million.
Once again, the confusion stems from the fact that the Japanese box office doesn't include Friday when reporting opening and following weekends. A "weekend total" means Saturday and Sunday no matter what. It's being lost in translation that Shin Godzilla's "weekend opening" is the Sat/Sun total of $6.1 million. But it's 3-day opening total is $8.2 million.
Now that doesn't mean Shin Ultraman didn't beat Shin Godzilla in something already. The three day opening attendance for Shin Godzilla was 564,332, whereas the three day opening attendance for Shin Ultraman was 641,802.
Seems that Ultraman is a movie that has lower ticket prices or the exchange rate has fluctuated to reflect something different. Either way, it's not unheard of for movies in Japan to make less money, but have higher attendance due to fluctuating ticket prices from movie to movie.
The point of this post, however, is to highlight that Shin Ultraman did not outgross Shin Godzilla's opening weekend. Attendance is another story.
Wait season 2?
Thank you!
That was my goal. And I took your advice on the Madison and Ren interaction. Also, I'd choose Noah Schnapp to play Sam if I'm being honest.
I like this one a lot. Actually, It feels actually connected to your KOTM
Cool, just did.
NGL, I really want Biollante in the next Godzilla movie.
yeah that one
You mean GVK.
Im just happy bc spino is there. Its bigger than my collection.
Godzilla vs. Gigan.
I have no nostalgia for it. It's not good.
I'll have to start on that after my Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, and Aliens book marathon
My first movie was Godzilla vs the Astro Monster (dubbed) but my first Godzilla show was Godzilla: Power Hour
yes rewrite King of the Monsters
I dont want to like make you feel like you have to
only if you want to.
True. Should I do a re-rewrite of GVK?
'Cause I have kind of my own pitch anyways for the future.
them meeting could be interesting though.
I had a phase where i loved it, I didnt get why everyone else hates it.
But either im not old enough yet or i was too old when i saw it, for it to have nogstalgic value. (Id vie for the former.)
I hate to say it but Godzilla 1998 (which was also the first giant monster movie I ever saw).
As far as the Toho films my first were the 1956 English dub of Godzilla (1954), Mothra vs Godzilla, and Godzilla: Final Wars (which is kind of ironic). I had also watched clips from Ghidorah: The Three-Headed Monster and Invasion of Astro Monster on TV when I was younger, however, I didn't see the full movies until much later.
Totally would, and the way I'd make it is that since the two don't meet in my or the OG version of GVK...there would be a more subtle lining to that.
Thats a cool concept. It would also make ren a more interesting character as well.
It is an interesting idea, and one of the main reasons I made Madison's story with Emma more prominent was to create a parallel between Madison and Ren Seriwaza in my rewrite of GVK, as Madison would be trying to learn from the mistakes of Emma and build a better future. Meanwhile, Ren is intent on undoing Ishiro's work due to his anger and resentment of his father's fascination of the Titans, as it made Ren feel lesser to him.
You just gave me an idea.
And I completely agree with you. The titans wreaking havoc could have been a direct allusion to how theyre choices really affect each other. And because she has this power to control titans she is abusing it. Not consiously, but its a reflection, of how she is pushing Madison away.
An Idea i have been thinking about recently is how Dougherty described how she was in tug of war in supporting her parents. Even thought she is with Emma she still wants to love her Dad and Mom, and both of them are trying to use her against each other.
I dont know, I thought it was an interesting Idea.
Thanks, except there's no Ghidorah mech...just MONARCH making Biollante.
Yeah, and the middle dragged. But the middle part would heavily focus on the larger family drama and how most of it stemmed from Emma's obsessions with the Titans and how it affected everyone, especially Madison.
It's so interesting and unusual!
