I never played save the earth but did play the unleashed ps2 version and destroy all monsters melee which is the first godzilla game I played. Unleashed on the ps2 was horrible but destroy all monsters on the gamecube was awesome. BUt years later when the next year when the wii was released I tried to find it but never could until 4 years later I got it and it is still awesome. just loved how the combat seems more realistic and the graphics are slight bit improved. but overall it cool.

i don't know about the original godzilla games, the 1st game i owned was Godzilla DAMM (Destroy All Monsters Melee) on the Game Cube. It was an awesome game, and i still think it is today. I would say the same thing for MonsterEvolutionist, Godzilla DAMM, STE for PS2, and Unleashed for Wii (even tho i don't own a Wii). The only reson id have a Wii is Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl, and Godzilla: Unleashed.

Here is my game idea: Name: Godzilla Civil War Plot via timeline: 2021: A power hungry political leader on the UN assumes control of the GDF and its resources and through blackmail and corruption, controls the countries of the Earth. A worldwide authoritarian government was created, the Earth Dominion. 2022: The monster Godzilla reawakens from a long sleep, and goes on a destruction rampage across the Japan Dominion Territory for a few months, one of the few numerous monster attacks happening across the world: Rodan in Germany, Angurius in Korea to name a few. After a few months of the world being under seige, the attacks stop. 2023: Seeing the GDF being ineffective and rebellious towards the Dominions policies, the political leader, now the President of the Dominion, disbands the GDF and establishes the Earth Dominion Defense Force (EDDF) to "establish a safe and secure society". The EDDF is used as a police force, a elite military force, and a monster counterstrike force across the globe. 2024: A discovery of a ancient alien data cache and 2 alien monsters suspended in animation, Gigan and Orga, are founded by Dominion scientist, and kick starts the technological capabilities of the EDDF. 2025: One year after the founding of the cache with Gigan and Orga in their seemingly lifeless dormancy, a monster called King Ghidorah, coming almost seemingly from nowhere, attacks Kyoto where the findings was discovered. Meanwhile, Godzilla appears at Kyoto, to see who was attacking his territory. King Ghidorah and Godzilla fight each other, with a victory going to Godzilla, and King Ghidorah lying dead at the bottom of the sea. 2026: Realizing they need their own monsters to counter the monsters attacking them, the EDDF used their new technological edge built the first mechas, Jet Jaguar and M.O.G.U.E.R.A. Both managed to destroy the monsters Ebirah and Zilla, but both could not stand up to the power Godzilla possessed. 2027: After a devastating monster attack in Hamburg, by a tag team of Godzilla and Rodan, the EDDF moved the deceased King Ghidorah body out of the ocean, and used their technology to create Mecha-King Ghidorah. Realizing about their mind control tech, they awake Orga and Gigan to take them under their control. The new 3 monsters managed to destroy a Kamacuras, Gorosaurus, and Titanosaurus, and managed to injure Rodan and Baragon for the time being, but they still could not compete against Godzilla. 2028: Taking gene samples of Godzilla from the last encounter, the EDDF created 3 experimental mutations hoping they would defeat him, and the monsters Biollante, Megaguirus, and Destoroyah were added to the EDDF ranks. These 3 destroyed Manda, Kumonga, and Gamera, and finally managed to injure Godzilla, but not kill him outright, what defeated the 3 in the battle with Godzilla was a fully recovered Rodan, along side Mothra and Angurius, attacking the already weakened 3 mutants. Althought the 3 mutants were not destroyed, they were severely wounded in the fighting. 2029: Seeing how most of theirmonsters fought Godzilla but never managed to kill him, the EDDF built the strongest mecha in their arsenal, Mechagodzilla. While this was going on, former GDF members broke into the launch bases of Jet Jaguar and M.O.G.U.E.R.A and stole the mechas from the EDDF. The former GDF members formed a resistance group fighting to overthrow the Earth Dominion. But seeing that they need support, they go to the Shobijin twins on Infant Island to ask Mothra to ask the support of her and the other monsters for an alliance for at least until the Earth Dominion is overthrown. The new EDDF mecha Mechagodzilla destroyed Varan, Kamoebas, another Kamacuras, and Oodaku all in one fight, and severely injuring Rodan, Angurius, and Baragon in another fight, proving that Mechagodzilla might be able to destroy Godzilla once and for all. 2030: The EDDF built the ship Gotengo to serve as a flagship and battleship command center for EDDF operations in a region. After a few months of the Gotengo's launch, a armada of starships appear around the orbit of Jupiter. This armada launched a strike fleet to Earth, destroying the cities of Paris, Berlin, and Los Angeles in the 1st wave. After the 1st wave, the aliens in the armada sent a invasion message to the Earth, revealing themselves to be the Darlathians, a conquering race from the Galtor system. After their message, they resumed their attack with a 2nd wave. The 2nd wave was less destructive due to the fact that the Dominion military and the Earth Defenders responded quick to the 2nd wave, but the city of Rio de Janeiro was still destroyed. Even though the 2nd wave faced casualties, the fleet sent in a 3rd and last wave, but it was a complete disaster and finnaly retreated back to the armada now located at Mars. 2031: Seeing how the humans beat back their invasion waves with Kaiju and the EDDF airship, the Darlathians brought their own Kaiju. They also used mind control tech on the Earth monsters Battra, Megalon, and Hedorah to do their biding. A 3 way war for the fate of humanity was about to begin. This is where the game Godzilla Civil War begins at. Monsters and Factions: Earth Defenders (The rebelling faction in the game, rouge former GDF members talk to the Shobijin on Infant Island to talk to Mothra about gathering the other Earth monsters not under the control of the Earth Dominion and forge an alliance to fight them. Hard choice how to end it, in the Toho body of films, the sequel-opening endings tend to be a bit anticlimactic. I'd like an ending that leaves you wanting to see where things go, but it doesn't have to blatantly lay out the future. I think Chris Nolan did a good job with his Batman films of leaving the end exciting and making you want more, but not directly establishing a sequel or where it would go. That's the sort of ending I think this needs, even if Godzilla dies, do so with a sense of, this isn't over. I want this film to get the franchise going again, and not by being so bad Toho starts up again, but that it's so good, both Legendary and Toho want to keep it going and do so, it'd be great to see Godzilla grow as a multi-country franchise and collaborative effort. I don't care who makes them as long as the stories are good, there's continuity and they feel like classic Godzilla movies.

for the record ,the film should be a hard R but I realize that will not happen . maybe a hard R included in the Bluray release is more realistic

Even if there are "rules" about the depiction of the American military by Hollywood, I don't think it serves injustice to their abilities to get their asses kicked by a giant, radioactive lizard, it's not like some foreign enemy will see the movie and think, look, we can beat them. I have mixed feelings about killing him off or not. Depending on what Godzilla's origin is, if there's a possibility for another to be created in the wake of this one's death, like they played it with Godzilla Raids Again, then killing him off and leaving room for the threat would do, but you also have to craft the story and dialogue just right. Gojira works because the whole end of the film after his death is contemplation of what created him and a sense of fear that if it happened once, it can happen again. If Godzilla is handled again as a metaphor for something, then there's no loss in killing him off if you construct the story to make his terror extend beyond his life. It's also key to make the means of his death be tragic and challenging. Only one device could take him down in Gojira, and it was a device of such devastating capability that the man who'd created it had to take his own life in sacrifice to keep it from ever existing again. There has to be a price to Godzilla's defeat to make killing him work, otherwise, you have to let him live. I am curious though, if Toho has plans and is there potential for them to take this Godzilla film and start up their films again and build them from this, or would Legendary continue producing them.

Yeah, he should be REALLY TALL! Everything gets bigger, especially skyscrapers, so he has to keep up! I saw all the G-movies, except Revenge of Godzilla and always had a strange feeling if he was shorter than a building. It´s Big G, he´s not there to interact with humans, he´s a walking, atomicbreathing mountain. height should be about 500 meters / ~ 1600ft

I believe that every clear shot of Godzilla should be CGI, only using animatronics and suits for more silhouette type shots. Jurassic Park's dinosaurs hold up, but there is a blatant contrast in the look of the skin of the animatronic dinosaurs and their CGI version, the Rex almost looks smooth in CGI where the animatronic version has a heavy amount of texture. They both look great by themselves but I hate when you watch a movie and can easily spot such differences, it's one thing I hate about classic Godzilla's where puppets or cybots were used because they never matched the suit, often with dramatic differences. There's nothing wrong with CGI, it's come a long way and doesn't have to mean losing the feel of Godzilla, they would just have to animate him to mimic movement of a guy in a suit. My hope in 98 was that they'd take Toho's Godzilla and elevate him to a new level of realism using CGI to create Godzilla and also blend him into the environment more realistically. For me, Toho's only been able to really make Godzilla look like a living creature in the 54, 84 and 89 films, there are some close runners too, but those three work. The 90s Godzillas and especially the millennium series looked more and more like a rubber suit and not skin as the series went on, he just would look so fake. My hope is that G2014 will be a design faithful to the Toho style, but using the latest technologies to give us the most realistic Godzilla movie ever.

They should learn from Jurassic Park, it was made in the 1990s and they used a mix between practical and computer generated effects and the creatures still look mind blowing after 20+ years, they should use a mixture of rubber suits, animatronics and CG for Godzilla.

Doing a suit over CG may not be a bad thing. Practical effects just LOOK better. They don't get dated like CGI does, and you get better performances from the actors. CGI should be used to enhance an effect, but whenever a filmmaker uses it as a primary effect, it loses some of it's reality, and just becomes a crutch. New Star Wars vs. Classics Star Wars is a great case in point. The remake of "The Thing" (John Carpenter's 1982 Masterpiece) vs. the "prequel." However, CGI can really give an audience a "WOW" shot that just cannot be achieved with practical effects. I think if studios went back to optical effects, and just used CGI accordingly, we could get some very amazing, lifelike effects. Sadly, that's not the way things are moving. CGI has pretty much taken over.

No. As the poster noted this was an old concept for an American Tri-Star Godzilla. While it would have been a better concept than the Devlin/Emmerick film, it's still not Godzilla. If you're going to be that drastic to change everything about an icon so much that the only thing that's recognizable is the namesake, why upset all the fans who made the IP a success and just come up with your own IP? With that I think I just won an award for the longest run on sentence on the boards. :-) Bottom line on this concept, it's cool. But it's NOT Godzilla.

He shouldn't, and if he does, end the movie or have an After-Credits Scene where he is shown to still be alive, like the ending in [i]Godzilla VS King Ghidorah[/i]. Honestly a better ending would be Godzilla retreating to the ocean, with the humans accepting that he is not an enemy but a Force of Nature, a misunderstood creature.

My absolute most favorite Godzilla design ever is the 1984 suit. I love how evil he looks with the eyes going up into his head and the way the spikes were done, the face just looks very evil and I just feel like for who Godzilla's meant to be, the whole suit really captures it. The suit only though, the Cybot Godzilla looks bad. Behind that, the original 1954 and the 1989 suits are my favorites for very similar reasons, and I also love the 1965 suit.
