i don't think the heisei series had any influence in this film, i think it is gojira and godzilla vs hedorah (the director of that movie is an exclusive producer).
I work at a theater. I Made sure the trailer is playing before EVERY film in my theater, and I always mention Godzilla when Im talking to a guest. I think I'm doing my job for big G ;D
I agree with KYERO. Godzilla became a "Hero" once films such as GAMERA and ULTRA MAN came into play. Those movies were popular with kids and TOHO found that to be an opporitunity to gain generations of fans if they switched Godzilla's character. Making him an icon in the process. That is also why his image slightly changed, with bigger eys, flattened face, etc so he could appear less scary. Godzilla is more so an animal. The "monster" part comes from his size and radiated abilities. He shouldn't be a hero, or a "bad guy" and kill on purpose. He should act just as a hurrican and destroy whatever is in his way, as well as acting instinctively and defending himself and whatever territory he claims as his. The Heisei series is the closest the new Godzilla should be.
Im planing to see the film 5 times and after that I will atleast see it once every month.
also planing to sell some of my stuff to earn 30 or 40 dollars.
If none of u guys ever knew, theres an interview with Gareth Edwards talking about the movie and saying he wants to make it have a "Destroy All Monsters" feel to it, which clearly means theres going to be more than 2 monsters in this movie.
NO HE WASNT TALKING ABOUT A SEQUEL IDEA, he was talking about the 2014 Godzilla movie. And i would put a link of the interview here but ive watched too much of the Godzilla interviews and totally forgot which one it is so if u want u can go find it out there yourself lol
kyero has a good point and i agree.
i still dont trust it either
yes i will tell my friends and people i known about this.
@KYERO
Loving Your Ideas!
@GOJIRA2K
I want to make it myself as a non-profit game.
wow muto queen that reminds me of megaguirus in godzilla 2000. no it wont be boring because they known what there doing.
Lol I thought about this already and yes dont worry we Gfans are smat enough to understand and do this
You should actually make this game and release this to the public or send the idea to a game designer so he can make the game.
Not too bad.
However, I wish to suggest that Godzilla's controls be a little more varied and a little more intimate for the players. Roaring, moving, attacking and atomic breath are all well and good, but I think there can be a little more to it.
Depending on the platform and manner of release, you could trigger individual claw attacks from both the left and right sides. A low tail sweep, and a higher tail whip if other Kaiju make appearances or you just want to bash the top of a building off. Perhaps a stomping attack as well to shake the ground and rattle the foundations of nearby buildings, with two or three stomps being enough to bring medium sized buildings tumbling down.
I'd also suggest perhaps giving his roar different effects depending on how hard the button is pressed and/or how long it's held down. For instance, holding down the roar button increases the duration of the roar and also causes a small tremor in the ground when held down long enough (perhaps one full second or more) shaking the camera and causing dust to shake loose from buildings and fallen debris within a certain distance to perhaps tilt to one side. Also, if the roar is held down and causes the tremor, any nearby building glass could shatter as well from the sheer decible level.
These kinds of small atmospheric and environmental mechanics will greatly enhance immersion in the game and keep the entertainment value high through extended play. When playing games that have a free roam option, I have often found that the best way to stay entertained is to have varied and immersive options to explore that don't necessarily have to do with storyline. For instance, making an achievment for his roar by shattering a high number of windows or perhaps using his stomp attack to topple the tallest building in a given city as opposed to just demolishing it with his claws and tail.
For other small details, every footstep could cause a minor tremor and give the camera the slightest of shakes. Nothing that will jar the player of course, but enough to be noticeable and give the feeling of weight and power. Godzilla's claw attacks and footprints could remain in teh environment indefinitely, as opposed to slowly disappearing. That would greatly annoy most players, I can guarantee. Other things would be when Godzilla uses his atomic breath, anything that is not directly caught in the blast but is never the less in its pathway could give off smoke from the excess heat that passed by for a few seconds before the smoke disappears.
Just a few little suggestions I have for you.
In regards to the prologue you provided, I think it's pretty well done but I have a suggestion: Make it player driven.
When playing as Godzilla in 1954, give them the option of following the traditional Godzilla experience where he dies by the Oxygen Destroyer, and then give them an option to where they can avoid the effect and survive to stomp Tokyo another day which leads to an alternate storyline entirely.
Perhaps that's a bit ambitious, but it's all food for thought and you don't have to do it if you'd rather not. Just trying to give options and increase the pallet that you're working with. I'm no game designer, but if I can support the development of such a game then I'll do so with all the creativity I have.
I think Im gonna hurl *Fires ray* well my taco is gone
That thing is nasty
Godzilla wiki has the name of the sets from Bandai Creations
i like your ideas. this sounds like it would be a really cool game. good shit.
Godzilla's behavior has more or less been consistent save for the latter half of the Showa series in which he just meandered about being an instinct driven animal. I'm all for such behavior.
Having Godzilla simply be an animal without a clue what humanity is or why its society exists within his supposed territory would be truly the best way for him to be portrayed. The hero of the Showa series is a completely unrealistic animal behavior that was forced upon him because of how popular the image of Godzilla became with children over the years. It should never make a reappearance, ever.
In my opinion, the whole "hero" thing ruined what Godzilla initially stood for and brought down his credibility during the Showa period. The Heisei period brought back his nuclear powered roots and made him a terrifying force again, thankfully. So yes, I would be all for the Heisei behaviorisms where Godzilla wanders aimlessly about his territory destroying anything in his path purely because it happens to be in his way.
I don't trust in this.
Sound cool but how does he know this stuff?
@Gojira2K
I dont want to spoil ALL my ideas. :)
I realy like this prologue and find nothng wrong with it. Will you continue and give other parts of the game?
PART TWO IS OUT! Check it out in the recent discussions!
@KYERO
Actually, I am not too sure. I have not thought that one out yet. Thats something I have not decided on. Thanks for your support!
AKAGI, fair point, the kind of answer i was looking for, but places like asia won't really care about the cast, godzilla is still a big name over there, including hong kong and japan.
@Akagi, That also explains with Pacific Rim did so poorly.
It's hard, it's pessimistic, and it might not be too far from the truth.
This is going to sound harsh and really mean to my fellow fans and I will state it is not my intention.
If this film does well its going to be because of the cast. People are going to flock to see Breaking Bad's star or as some girls I've heard say "that sexy guy from kickass".
As mean as that sounds, even though godzilla is a global icon, it isn't a global icon that is seen with a very flattering light and in this day in age actors put asses in seats, not monsters.
How else do you explain the god awful transformer films doing so well?
Well from what I can tell, particularly with the whole "these things threaten our very existence' shtick-- that is safe to say there will be more than one.
I'm thinking if they are insectoid, there might even be a horde of creatures.
But at this stage, no one knows crap about anything so its safe to say all this is speculation at best.
if theres a post credits scene i would like the humans building MECHAGODZILLA to help destroy godzilla. mechagodzilla may not be a "monster" but he is godzillas ALL-TIME enemy
so far the teaser has been good, anyone i know who has watched it say it looks epic. also godzilla has no major competition the first week it is released so the film does have some breathing space. And if you check out the the international release dates http://www.godzillamovie.com/releasedates/ you will see that it is released around the same time, which is something that i haven't seen done by for any other movie.
i hope godzilla does well over there in the states and here in britain,however it will do better than pacific rim because of the name, however warner bros has make the marketing really good.
Its pretty much confirmed that there will be more than 20 mutos or so, because of the sinkhokes and the size of the monsters, and they are at a global scale,not in one place only.
The MUTO creatures sizes are unknown, as the two in the teasers are not confirmed to be final products for the film. If the MUTOs are small, it will likely be either a temporary thing, or it's just the tip of the iceberg.
For those who are still confused or butt-hurt about this, here is the fact: The early draft of the script said Godzilla woudl fight two monsters. It has not been confirmed by anyone at any time whether or not that still holds true or whether or not that meant simply that he would face down two primary antagonist creatures.
For all we know, the script and story have changed to accomodate two primary antagonist creatures while adding any number of smaller and (from Godzilla's perspective at least) irrelevant creatures who are less than an annoyance to him and are more an enemy for the humans to deal with. I cannot say for sure, becuase it's only speculation, but again the fact remains the same. There is no confirmation that the early script still holds true in that there are only two creatures besides Godzilla.
These are intelligent people. This movie was written and directed by Godzilla fans. Not only that, they're people with a track record of knowing how to make a compelling movie.
You don't need to worry, this won't be 'Godzilla: MUTO Pest Exterminator'. There will be big MUTOS, and epic battles :)
I tear up when i watch the all godzilla roars from 54 - 2014 its amazing wheb u see the difference
Hard to say, Godzilla movies don't have a great track record in terms of making money. Normally they can get away with this because they're so cheap to make and the merchandising does well.
With something of this budget though, if it flops it's going to flop hard. I hope it's more successful in the States than Pacific Rim was.
