I doubt it also. I've had Legendary tell me they don't reveal trailer release dates. We can only speculate. I'd like to think Legendary plans to drop trailer #2 on the 100 day countdown mark, which would be February 4th - 5th. But again, that's just more speculation. They didn't release anything for Godzilla's 59th anniversary, so I'm honestly not sure if they'll roll with the "...In 100 days" type of promotion. We'll just have to wait and see.

My expectations are lines from the characters so we can know what the story will be like.

The Gido-Goji Godzilla suit is probably my favorite suit of the Heisei series! It really looked tall and beefy. If only it had the same head movements as the Moge/Desu-Goji suit, then it would've been perfect.

Oh, I agree. I love Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, even with it's laundry list of flaws. The movie really trips up on itself during the second act, but I thought Teresawa trying to figure out Godzilla's origins in the first act was interesting. And, of course, when Godzilla returns  the movie kicks into high gear.

There's some good stuff in this movie, it's just not wholly consistant to be a great movie.

dam i knew that i just forgot to mention that, i still think the movie was good especially the godzilla and shindo scene (which is anouther point in the movie that is misinterpretated)

Well, that's not the only connection the movie, Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, has with Godzilla vs. Biollante.

Remember, Akira Yuki is seeking revenge on Godzilla for killing Lt. Gondo in Godzilla vs. Biollante. Which means the events in that movie still happened. Unfortunately, there's a whole lot of connecting the dots thanks to a great deal of sloppy writing.

I really hope this happens. Maybe we can see a sequel to Cloverfield, others kaiju movies like you said and of course, a trilogy for the new Godzilla.

yeah because many big godzilla fans like james rolfe aka. ANGN and others got confused and thought that 1984 didn't happen, biollante didn't exist and that the godzilla in the movie was a differenent one. it is so obvious that spacegodzilla is a decendant of biollante because 1. same tusks 2. when spacegodzilla dies his body becomes spores just like biollante.

Good catch. That does seem to be the one hole in the fixed loop theory. While the Futarians caused the birth of the Heisei Godzilla it seems it was a fixed point. Grenchicko even says, "The birth of Godzilla was an unavoidable event."

It's possible that Emmi traveled into an alternate timeline, briefly, where Godzilla did destroy Japan. And then brought Mecha-King Ghidorah back to alter the timeline back to its original state where Japan prospers and becomes the most powerful nation by 2100/2200s.

OR, her superior officer at the EUO might have just been refering to that one event. Godzilla's destroyed cities in Japan numerous times, he could have referred to any event prior to Destroyah as a consequence and Emmi's return with Mecha-King Ghidorah could be looked at as a fixed point that simply avoided one of those rampages.

In the end there are still plot holes and inconsistancies, as with most timetravel movies, but the movie absolutely did not erase Godzilla (1984) and Godzilla vs. Biollante.

I also want to make a brief correction. The Godzillasaurus was mutated by a Russian sub that sank in the 1970s. Not bomb tests.

I share some of your hopes, as well as...

1: Seeing more of these Muto monsters.

2: Seeing more of the American Godzilla.

3: Learning more of the story.

oh and there is something else that was easy to miss but makes complete sense, when the future people came, they were from a time were nukes are banned and japan is the most powerful nation on earth, after king ghidorah is defeated by godzilla and emiko goes back to the future japan was destoryed by ''a monster'', so the events around the humans can change, but godzilla is a fixed point in time, both 1954 and heisei godzilla's creation are locked in time and any way of prventing their creation annot exist, also as long as their is nuclear weapons, godzilla will always exist.

Alright while I hope as much as the next person that Forbes is wrong in this case (and I do have a lot of respect for Forbes in general) I've had some worries as of late myself.

Most of the marketing has, indeed, been all viral.  Most people I talk to haven't even heard of this movie, and while I do my part to explain the concept of it and often succeed in getting them excited for it, I don't see the studio doing nearly as much as they need to to promote it.  We've seen 300 pushed for months.  At this point last year we had a couple teasers AND a full trailer for Pacific Rim (actually we had them in December) and that film didn't come out till July! Almost a year ago we had the first trailer for 300 and that showed more than the Godzilla teaser did.  Hell, I remember going to the premiere of that 1998 film (which I enjoyed considering I was 8 at the time) and the teasers/trailers for that came out a year prior (remember the Zilla foot stepping on the T-Rex skeleton?) and that film had the Independence Day name behind it.  With no Super Bowl trailer I am getting worried.  If you look at the marketting for, say, Avatar, a film we can all agree was a HUGE box office success, by this time in the development cycle there were some spectacular trailers and media hype building for it.  Little of that is happening for Godzilla outside of Science Fiction style websites and media that tends to focus on comic book style movies.  I am stoked for this movie but they really REALLY need to get heavy on the marketting... this spring/summer is going to be stocked full of movies that people will want to see on a limited budget in a bad economy... Godzilla needs to stake out a place in people's minds now.

Dave Callaham only wrote the first draft of the script, roughly two years ago. Since then the script has been re-worked by David Goyer, who co-wrote The Dark Knight trilogy, and then that draft was punched up by Max Borenstien, who is a new and upcoming screenwriter. (He recently did a draft for Legendary's Seventh Son.)

After Max Borenstien's draft, Drew Pearce was asked to come in and age the characters to be a little older. I imagine the dialogue is a little better after Pearce got his hands on it, because he's known for having really smooth/witty lines for his characters. Drew Pearce co-wrote Iron Man 3, so you can imagine the dialogue is pretty good. Finally, after Pearce's draft, Frank Darabont doctored the final draft in order to add more emotion to some very character driven scenes. (Frank Darabont wrote and directed The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist and created The Walking Dead television series. People call him the greatest script doctor in Hollywood.)

The reason that Max Borenstien and Dave Callham are the only two people getting credit is because Writers Guild rules dictate that the people who made the biggest changes to the story or influenced the scripts story the most only get credit. This happens all time though. There are always more writers for a single movie than we think.

In the end Dave Callaham wrote a script and Max Borenstien, David Goyer, Drew Pearce and Frank Darabont made it better-- which is good, since Goyer, Pearce and Darabont are three of the best screenwriters in Hollywood right now.

I hate remake haters, because they are f*cking selfish. "Just me and my generation can enjoy these masterpieces, new generations have no right to live what I lived, they must watch just the version that I like or screw themselves, f*ck dawn of the planet of the apes, f*ck robocop, f*ck godzilla, f*ck this, f*ck that and bla bla bla..."

Yeah, when a 16 years old kid says shit like "Man of Steel is the best Superman movie ever" or "Bale is a better batman than Keaton" Makes me want to kill someone, and yeah, I don´t Like the new robocop suit (black, really? What have wrong with the silver suit, it was awesome...) But... the hell, I mean, Remakes are not made for the classic fans, they are made for catch a new generation of fans, they just don´t have to do everything by the old school way, but well, The hell with everything.

Well, I have some worries too, some members of the production have just worked in movies that are like... meh, but I still having faith in this movie, because there are people who has made Godzilla films involved in the movie, Alex Desplat will make the music, Gareth Edwards is the director and we have Kick-Ass and Heisenberg to protect the humankind of Godzilla.

Just sit back and relax, the movie will be fine.

But to sum it up, if the leaked script from many ages ago still holds some significance in the current one, the modern day Serizawa may be a descendant of the original in an alternate universe where he never died with the original Godzilla and the Oxygen Destroyer's plans.

If you look real closely you can see a purple or pink mouth bite the train and at the same time see the nech on the left side.

i'd say son of godzilla is, the movie is cheesy but very entertaining. sea monster is just shit and that was my first toho godzilla movie and didn't have godzilla until near the end of the movie.

Lets hope that march is early enough for the Merchandise thing.

Early to mid March is probably a safe bet. With the final theatrical trailer being released a couple of weeks or so before May 16th.

Hey, has anyone here played War of the Monsters? Its an old PS2 kaiju battle game. The way it had the battling was awesome. The ciys were 100% DESTRUCTABLE..... a skyscraper collapsing on someonewas an insant death And you could even use rubble asa wepon to through at your opponent. I would love to see stuff like that in this game.
