Just because there's not gonna be a trailer doesn't meant there won't be some kinda tv spot. The Avengers did the same thing.
You are so right, I'm tired of this crap, save us GOD...ZILLA
The content of the article is one thing, but I have trouble taking it seriously as a professional piece from Forbes due to the typos and/or grammatical mistakes present throughout. Not only does the article misspell “Godzilla” as “Gozilla,” but it also lacks some commas where they should be present.
This may not be relevant to what the article actually discusses, but still, it’s hard to take a piece seriously when it misspells the title of one of the movies it’s discussing. Not to mention all the other problems people have identified with this article. Either way, I of course hope that it's wrong and that the movie performs well. I personally think it'll do fine.
Dont pay any mind to Forbes. They can't just judge a movie before they see it! These idiots just don't know what a good movie is! I don't see them working hard to make a big budget movie that took TIME and MONEY to get right! Forbes just sits at a desk and type crap and false information, just so they can grab the readers attention and make them believe it's true. No wonder why people just give bad ratings to movies! It makes me sick.
Ghidorah got his butt whooped by Godzilla numerous times. The only thing that would be an awesome addition to "legendary" ghidorah is if he had 4 legs, stood on 4 legs like an actualy dragon but he could use them as arms if necessary
1: Godzilla vs Destroyah, his son actually looked like HIS son. 2: Godzila 1954, its not 1st just because of the fact that humans killed him off. 3: Godzilla 2000, his new look was pretty good and really didn't have anything wrong with it except for the CGI
Fight scenes should be like godzilla unleashed but at a slower pace if you know what I mean and it should have a larger variety of moves. And you can out specialties on your monstee such as: more damage when using fire breath, laser vision or whatever is associated with each monster, faster movement, Etc.
Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla 3. One of my top 10 Godzilla movies.
It might not set any records but no way the movie flops unless it's terrible which I highly doubt it will be. The trailer which is just over 6 weeks old is currently at over 13 million views and counting. It's tracking quite well on rottentomatoes.com too. It will do well guys relax.
I actually cleared this up in another thread, but I can't find it. The time travel actually did not delete Godzilla 1984 and Godzilla vs. Biollante. The movie is soley about the Heisei Godzilla's origin. Not the original monster. The fact is the Futurians ARE the ones responsible for the Heisei Godzilla's birth. The timeline for the Heisei series is as follows:
1944 - The Futurians go back in time from 1992 and transport the Godzillasaurus from Lagos Island to a Pacific Ocean trench.
1954 - Bikini Atoll tests awaken the first Godzilla who rampages Japan and is later killed by the Oxygen Destroyer. The Oxygen Destroyer begins mutating pre-cambrian lifeforms.
mid-1970s - A Russian nuclear sub sinks into the Pacific Ocean trench, mutating the Godzillasaurus into the Heisei Godzilla. (As Terasawa discovers from a news clipping in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah.)
1984 - The Heisei Godzilla makes his first landing on Tokyo and is later dropped in Mt. Mahara.
1989 - Godzilla returns, attacks Japan and fights Biollante. He is then infected with ANEB sending him to sleep on the ocean floor in the Pacific. Biollante's G-cells make their way beyond Earth.
1992 - The Futurians arrive from 2204 to plot a way to hold Japan for ransom. They return from 1944 after leaving the Dorats and take control of King Ghidorah. While they were gone Godzilla moves from where he was sleeping in the Pacific to the ocean trench where he was born. (Making everyone think he disappeared from history.) Godzilla then attacks a nuclear sub and absorbs the modern radioactivity which mutates him 20 meters taller. He fights King Ghidorah, attacks Tokyo and is later dropped in the ocean by Mecha-King Ghidorah from the future.
1993 - Battra and Mothra awaken due to Earth's pleas and Godzilla prompts them to join forces against him. Battra dies in the process and Mothra leaves Earth to deflect an incoming asteroid.
1994 - The UNGCC is formed and the remains of Mecha-King Ghidorah are recovered from the ocean to build Mecha-Godzilla for G-Force. Rodan is found and does battle with Godzilla. Both monsters attack Japan in hopes of finding Baby Godzilla and Mecha-Godzilla is destroyed as a result.
1995 - G-Force builds MOGUERA and the G-cells from Biollante (or Mothra?) have completed a mutation, known as SpaceGodzilla. It arrives on Earth and attacks Japan. Godzilla defeats him and MOGUERA is destroyed in the battle.
1996 - Bass Island explodes causing a massive increase in Godzilla's nuclear heart. Destroyah is formed from the pre-cambrian lifeforms that have been mutating since 1954. Burning Godzilla does battle with Destroyah who is finished off by G-Force. The remaining radiation from Godzilla's meltdown is absorbed by Godzilla Jr.
2100s - Japan becomes the most powerful nation in the world.
2204 - Terrorsits steal a time machine from the EUO to alter Japan's history. One of them returns from 1992 to salvage King Ghidorah's remains and fight Godzilla in the same year. Her mission is a success and she returns to her time with no changes to the timestream.
It all makes sense, really, it's just the writing was so sloppy that it left most audiences confused. The Heisei Godzilla series indicates a closed time loop of sorts. In other words, what has already happened, happened. The Futurians are the whole reason why the Heisei Godzilla was born and they didn't even know it.
A more detailed and thorough explaination of the movie and its time travel mechanics can be found in this article:
GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH: Time Travel and the Origins of Godzilla
Unofficial in every way. Not bad if Godzilla were a more dinosaur-like creature rather than a Kaiju.
Kaiju are, after all, Kaiju. They're not dinosaurs, and Godzilla is no exception. It's a nice sculpt, but ultimately it's not Godzilla. Not the one we know anyway.
I think Forbes is full of crap authors of articles which do little to no real research and which are entirely unreliable. I read the article, and there were several false statements and "facts" throughout. Despite being panned by critics and dislikes heavily by Godzilla fans, the 1998 movie was a financial success contrary to the articles claim.
So, ESNKD, where's your source for that information?
As best I can find, and I'm actually pretty good at doing research if I may say so myself, there have been no sources or articles speculating Godzilla at 495 feet. If you're going off of the 150 meter mark which some of Godzilla's past enemies have hit, then that's one thing but it's still a few feet off at 492 feet.
Anyway, as you have no source, evidence, or anything of the kind I'll not take your word to heart and he was never in the Pacific Rim movie if that was what you were saying. Your sentence is a little... incoherent as to exactly what you are trying to say. Are you telling us that Godzilla is "actually" going to be in his own movie in 2014 as we've all known from the beginning? Cause it wouldn't really be a Godzilla movie without Godzilla, know what I mean?
Anyway, make sense next time so that your post actually carries meaning okay. Right now it's an incoherent mess which only really states one thing: that you think Godzilla will make the Jaegers look like little bitches which isn't entirely true since they are not part of the same universe and therefore are incomparable to one another. You can compare heights all you want, but if the Jaegers were thrown into Godzilla lore, they'd be upped in scale for story purposes to make it a more even fight, so your little comment is really meaningless now.
i saw something that stated that godzilla is actually 495ft tall but if hes bigger that would be awesome. a 600ft or taller godzilla how can that be wrong lol
i cant lie this is pretty awesome. the capt. couldn't do anything but save people but would still be an awesome addition lol. even thor and the rest of them couldnt really do much with this except help peeps and run. even the hulk would have some serious issues and in most cases need to run from godzilla
godzilla don't need new monsters, just reimagine the old ones, making them make more sense body wise without loosing the awesomeness of their actual powers would be freakin awesome.
hmmm seems a stretch, if anyone would try to relate something to a god i would think they would look at godzilla as being some kind of reincarnation of some vengful god.
@GhostKaiju
Really? I didn't know this topic was already discussed. Sorry.
you know the bad thing is they might be right in one part, the marketing for this movie is mostly off this page, what are they waiting for, the monster has been revealed, the antagonist has been reveled, muto and most of their agenda has been revealed. sooooo what are they waiting for its a few months away they really need to get on the ball with the marketing.
i dare say that godzilla in this movie does not need to fight something of equal size, i think the first movie is to establish what type of nightmare man has to deal with and the mistake of carelessly using nuclear energy and the mistake of genetic minipulation of creatures to the point of not being able to control or stop them. the next movie, lets see him fight like a bear or rabbit or what ever.
When godzilla fought spacegodzilla, he was focused on rescuing his son not fighting. When godzilla fought kaiser ghidorah, gigan and monster X weakened him before he fought kaiser. With Destroyah... well you kind of got me there, if anything Godzilla should have been stronger with his hotter than normal fire blast and he was outraged whem destroyah killed his son
i dont want to correct anyone but.... GODZILLA IS ACTUALLY IN THE MOVIE IF MY CALCULATIONS AND SOURCES ARE CORRECT, HE WILL BE 495FT TALL. which would make a jager look like a little bitch.
I think its hilarious with what movies they are comparing this too. RIPD, AfterEarth, White House Down. GTFO, are you kidding me. Those movies were straight garbage which makes sense nobody would want to see it.
Pacific Rim didn't do well domestically but still was able to pull off about 600m worldwide. So regardless as long as Godzilla can mimic that it will get a sequal.
I'm pretty sure that he's playing a modern Serizawa. I'm also pretty sure that this is essentially a repeat topic.
That song has been overplayed for so long, it actually hurts. It does not fit Godzilla. At all. Simply because its title is "Radioactive" does not mean that you can automatically attribute it to Godzilla. I just cannot listen to that song anymore, it sounds really silly.
Sounds like you tried to "epicify" the original Godzilla march. Doesn't really work for me.
And the whole "Bury him under an ice cap" thing is ridiculous. His heart is a friggin nuclear reactor!
I concur with Gman2887. This whole speculation on Godzilla's size is getting really tiresome.
A lot of godzilla's enemies came from godzilla. Examples: Orga, Biollante, Spacegodzilla, all the Mecha's and I'm pretty sure Megaguirus also. I know it's an "American Godzilla" so it might have new enemies but killing Godzilla would kill so many possibilities.
Godzilla's previous encounters were deleted after the time travel. Plain and simple the reason he's still remembered and the events in those films get referenced afterwards is simply a sloppy script, giant plot holes.
However, he does have a point in the marketing sense. Now I know that whining about the marketing is the "trendy" G-fan thing to do now, but in comparison to the other films being released in May, WB is really taking their time with their marketing. Just today, a teaser for another trailer for Days of Future Past was released, a film that comes out after Godzilla. And the Amazing Spider Man 2 technically has two trailers now. The fact that a comic has been announced doesn't change how many people are going to want to go see this.
^ that wins the internet
Forbes really needs to get their facts straight. Zilla 98 was not a bomb by any sense of the word, except critically. It made more than double its profit. And Godzilla Final Wars wasn't even released theatrically here. And the reason why Godzilla 2000 flopped was probably because people were confusing it for a 98 film sequel. There isn't a whole lot of evidence to suggest that this movie will flop, let alone be the "John Carter" of the year.
You know? Gravity won Best Picture, and it was marketed just like Godzilla is. :)
Godzilla will do well, I know it will.
With all the marketing experts employed by "LP" &"WB" you would think that they would take into account all of the recent attempts at releasing a Godzilla movie in the USA and how they failed and change their strategy. Maybe they feel the less is more approach is needed and two months before release they will reall unleash some clever marketing that none of us saw coming. Here's to hoping anyways.
