Godzilla 2014 could take any spot on this list once I take it all in.
Kaijujira, I agree. I would LOOOOVE to customize your own map and DO IT ONLINE! Oh...I would alos like to customize my own land color, water color, city color, and even sky color. What do you think?
BUT dude...it's TOHO ONLY! PLUS...Zilla has the name taken from Godzilla and therefore, I believe Toho should reclaim that idiotic monster to represent as a punching bag.
I love these sort of things, they end up being a lot better than most the comic book movies.
I'd love seeing little shorts like this for Godzilla, particularly if they were animated by large groups of animation studios from all over the world-- all different flavors telling different stories.
Im not an up tight fan, I like seeing Godzilla in all sorts of variations. I wish Toho wasn't so tightassed and terrified of outsourcing Godzilla.
No I don't think that will work. I perfer a full movie.
It would be really cool if Godzilla crushed america Because if Godzilla crushed a famous landmark it would financial inprovement and would start sequeld
I can only hope that his breath just vaparizes anything it touches, and leaves a lethal amount of lasting radiation as apposed to just..blowing stuff up.
good, you guys got the better idea combining the best of both worlds. love it
As people have been stating, a beam is the most logical to display the sheer power associated with such an exotic ability only possible with nuclear biology like Godzilla's. However, gas is still good for complementary effects. For example, near his mouth, gas begins forming up, which is in itself severely scalding hot. After he lets loose the devastating beam of instant vaporization (which means no fancy explosions everywhere unless it's logically supposed to explode), ultra-heated gas eminates from the outer rim of the beam that can catch nearby objects on fire. The air following the end of this attack should also still be filled with lethal amounts of heat and radioactivity from lingering gases and other equally nasty effects.
Update
i have recived my SH MA godzilla 1964 and i do see the similarities more, once i get more info and possibly a figure this post will be improved, i might make a video by then as well.
GMan is right. I love the enthusiasm and optimism, but we can't keep creating repeat topics. Please search through our forums to find a number of similar discussions to join instead of adding a new one. Thanks!
Going to lock this now as a repeat.
Oh boy... We have about 1,372 topics on this subject and other threads, do we really need a new topic dedicated to this? This forum needs some extra moderaters to consolidate topics and keep things clean and concise. There's literally so many topics about the same subject floating around that it's impossible to know which thread you said things in. It also forces a lot of people to just repeat what's been said before... I've practically copied and pasted stuff at this point. I don't understand why this couldn't have been posted in Kaijujira's recent "How I would like Godzilla 2004 to succeed." thread. It's basically the same thing.

I noticed that too. That was wise... assuming people were paying attention...
why not have the beam, but with gas and chemicals escaping from his mouth as well, as some kind of biproduct of him uing this ability, maybe something like in gmk where just as he fires his ray theres big wave of energy that shouts out to the sides. add some chemicals and gas to that and you have something that is foing to damage the enviroment of the surrounding area, followed by the super destructive thermonuclear ray. as far as what the reay itself looks like, im hoping for a cross between gmk and godzilla 2000(- the orange color). i also hope that things close to his spines will be damaged by the heat they emit. as for the heat around the beam melting things, with the beam itself just vaporizing whatever it touches, well i belive that there is evidence of that in the trailer, remember the building with the hole it it? the edges of the hole looks melted, and there is a rounded path in the gound in front of the building that continues from the hole.
Why not go with a mix? A beam that gives off a high intensity irradiated gas?
exactly my point LINKMAN89, also it could work was because post ww2 japan was still using a lot of wood in housing which made it easier to destory with high tempreture attacks, but modern architecture would be very hard to light on fire with super heated gas.
While the concept of the gas could be cool in that it could result in a radioactive firestorm (think afteraffect of a nuclear explosion) I can't see them going with the gas for one simple reason.
Gas was used in the older movies because, well, that's all they could do. An energy beam came about as special effects evolves, eventually culminating in Final Wars where Godzilla's beam was able to hit the meteor containing Space Monster X as it came in towards Tokyo. Since the gas was only used because that was the best special effect that could be mustered, I would be very surprised if they went with that concept.
Given that this movie is a reboot of a franchise, I think it's not unreasonable to think that if the movie succeeds they'll keep doing movies.
The whole trilogy thing has long since overstayed its welcome, and I don't care to see it here at all.
If this movie does well enough, bring back Edwards and the creative team behind the success and get them to work on another one. If that one does well. Do it again. If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it. Legendary, if they pull this off, could ride the train all the way until it finally flops which could be anywhere from 1-however many they manage to squeeze in before it runs into a wall.
But no trilogy. I'm sick to death of trilogies. They've long overstayed their welcome and I personally will feel quite betrayed if Legendary does well this time and says "Trilogy."
the gas just seems boring for a movie that will use A LOT of cgi, fire seems better than gas but thats stereotypical. thats like chaning the energy beams from dragonball and turning it into coloured air.... oh wait that already happened. i'm pretty sure that toho stated using a beam because the advancment of special/visual effects, plus as i keep saying a modern audience would prefer a beam over steam.
@GodzillaFan1995, Do you mean "properties?" And I have to disagree with a beam, because this is not a Toho Godzilla therefore they probably won't go with a beam. They will probably go in the direction of a gas like the original and it will be used as more of a short range defense-mechanism. The reason I say that is because Edwards had stated that the fights would be like that of actual animals, not like the Toho fights that we're used to seeing.
Same here but I wanted true to the godzilla series.
On a side note a lot of the companies who did have trailers during the game did something smart... they only showed 30 seconds of their new full trailer (ala Spiderman 2 and Captain America 2) and instead had a message at the end saying go to this site to watch the full trailer. That was a creative way to get a new trailer out while not spending as much money on a commercial.
No telling on whether or not it will be profitable enough for a sequel, however I don't think $200-$240 million is outside the realm of possibility. If it makes that the international box office should do the rest. Hopfully this will be a bigger hit in Japan than Pacific Rim was... But it seems Japan is really sick of Godzilla and the genre it birthed.
^Indeed. It was a boring game. Nearly a blowout. Ratings suggest that attendance dropped a great deal right before the second half ended. I'm willing to bet all these companies that footed the bill for these TV spots were just hoping people were still watching...
when i mean the melting propaties i mean, you have the beam from gxmg and you upgrade the heat propaties, with the beam itself being so hot that it incinerates anything in contact of the beam and the heat 'around' the beam being hot enough to melt rocks and metal.
yeah, no offesnse and not being mean but this topic has been done like 5 times, like i have said the beam is the best one, a realistic vapour breath is boring, it would be dragonball evolution all over again. also you could combine the melting propaties of the vapour breath with the explosive beam to give a breath with a realitic effect.
Def. Do more! Good job, they are simple, yet really detailed descriptions!
Hey KYERO,
I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but for most people... Drawing is fun. Even if the MUTOs bear no resemblance to this particular vision of the creature, DEMPLEX will have a wonderful sketch and be able to admire how efficiently his imagination can creating something from almost nothing.
In my books: That's something to admire, not something to pointlessly criticize.
if anything they should use the technique that andy serkis and peter jackson use (the name of it escapes me at the moment) so godzilla would a more human element if thats what toho wants. we cant use straight up suits for this movie because none of todays audience will take it seriously
I still think it's fake, I could have made this, it's not hard at all. There's even a clear default color outer glow on the symbol, I high doubt you'll ever see it like that in a real movie poster. I just don't know how to explain the Amazon thing LOL
They should use suitmation but they wont because the glimpses were cgi and cgi can do much more than suits
As i seee it, im hoping for atleast a moderate succes at the box office, gets alot of positive reviews and gets one, or three more sequels, i couldnt ask for more (Dont make a trilogy plz)
Thank you for the info, mate.
A little early for all of this, but even if the film is excellent I think its a little unrealistic to expect this to get any top awards (acting, directing, best film, etc) due to bias against blockbusters/special effects heavy films....but does anyone else have high expectations for the films music score? Alexander Desplat has been nominated for best original score 6 times (including this year). I'm really curious as to what he does for Godzilla - especially whether or not he incorparates any of the original themes.(please!)
There will still be an award bias against Godzilla even in the film score category (music nods often mirror the best picture nominees) but I think if there is a chance its nominated in a non-special effects category, film score could be it.
Me too. I just want it to make at least $300, 000, 000 at the box office.
Nice drawing man and AKAGI I agree with you.
I've been told that the super bowl was boring as heck and it sucked, so I think Im glad the second Godzilla trailer was not put in it. It deserves better.
