I like the suit. It gives a visual pleasure as eye candy with the spikey texture. It's probably my 2nd design after Godzilla 2014

i like the modernized desgin of the g2000 suit especially the spike like shapes of the dorsal fins and how they still used a orange beam instead of fire. and i only like the american version of this movie, it added better sound effects and felt more complete, the japanes version had no sound effects when it should have like, godzilla opening his mouth with out roaring and others.
also the millenium raor is quite good.

I dislike the costume for a lot of reasons, but like other aspects of it.
Number one, I love his skin texture, the spikey bits around the neck sand arms just seems natural, his claws and hand shape are well proportioned and his tail is nice.
But for me what makes Godzilla-- Godzilla, is his expressive face. Godzilla 2000's face is just too soulless and reptilian. Very little mammalian features, which were always a staple of what made Godzilla unique and not just a 'giant dinosaur' but something new. HIs teeth also bug the living heck out of me, and worst of all, is his color scheme.
I -hate- green Godzillas and I really hate Green Godzillay with bright pink tongues (Watermelon zilla) and best of all, purple spines-- which would look good on a gray godzilla, but not on something bright green. So at the end of the day they're going for a more realistic design that ends up being far flashier and unrealistically colored.
He is 350ft Tall people, those things on his neck ARE gills, and the Brazil photo is part of the final advertising design-- Deal with it.

The movie is fine. It's like an improved Heisei movie with stronger character relationships and better special effects.
I don't like the suit. The design itself fine, but the suit is a major step down from the lively Heisei suits. It looks very plastic, has no facial animatronics what-so-ever and it can't even turn its head. The spikes are far too big. They look way out of proportion with the rest of its body. And I hate the green and purple coloring. The color combination is a little too close to Barney for my tastes.
The suit was much improved when the Kiryu movies came out.

One thing that stands out to me about 2000 is that the human characters actually have a decent storyline. I love the Godzilla movies but there are some cringe worthy performances when it comes to the human characters in Godzilla movies. Its one of the few times that a child in a G movie is not too annoying. Plus, some of the better CGI in the Godzilla series.

I disagree. I thought the little girl in G2K was goofy. So Shindo's letting his daughter do all the business expenses for him? What? And why put his own daughter in all that danger? It never really clicked for me.
I didn't like the CGI either. Gamera 3 had come out the same year as G2K. The CGI in that movie was amazing, so it was disappointing that the CG effects in Godzilla 2000 weren't even half as good as what was seen in Gamera.

@GMAN- I don't disagree with you. I don't think that the storyline still isn't silly, I just believe that its better than a lot of other Godzilla movies. I was comparing her to kids from Tokyo SOS and All Monsters Attack. And about the CGI, Toho never really had a movie that had GREAT CGI in the first place. It just has had some CGI better than others. 2014 will be the first time we see Gojira in actual high quality CGI.

Fair enough. I can agree she was more tolerable than Ichiro or the children in the Kiryu movies. As the movie went on she become more likable I suppose.
As for he CGI, I think it's just disheartening that Toho never measured up to Daiei's special effects team. Gamera 3 really knocked it out of the park and it was disappointing to see Toho fail at similar special effects techniques mere months after it was released. GMK was real close, but nothing stood up to what Shinji Higuchi did with the Gamera trilogy.

@GMAN- Yeah, its too bad that they didn't really take advantage of CGI. Especially coming from a series that started off with a movie that had ground breaking costume design at its time (1954). I'm just hoping that this new Godzilla really unleashes the potential of a character with such size and power by utilizing todays technology.
