Well not to be a spoilsport, but the Kaiju we commonly know as Kaiju are actually daikaiju.

Kaiju can be just about any size really, though most smaller, more 'realistic' ones are usually refered to as Kaibutsu, humanoid ones are refered to as Kaijin.

But in the end, it still just means mysterious/creature/beast/animal/human/thing.

Every form of Destroyah except for its flying form.

Never have I seen a Mary Sue Monster as bad as destroyah. Looks like a ten year old designed it, specially its earlier stages where its nothing but legs and neck, with probably the goofiest looking head of any monster I've ever seen.

In the Showa series Baragon is only 25 meters.

Yeah, I kind of think the Heisei series was a bit overrated. I loved the start of it with Godzilla 85. Personally, I felt the last three films saved the sereis for me. But my grip was mostly with G vs KG and G vs. M. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah began very strong and it redefined KG as Godzilla's mortal enemy. But after the first (and fanastic) fight between the two monsters, the film fell apart. Godzilla's rampage after the fight felt like a plot to a totally different Godzilla film. The Mecha King Ghidroah at the end was kind of random. The film should have been called Godzilla vs. Mecha King Ghidroah. Godzilla vs. Mothra is in my opinon the WORST GODZILLA FILM EVER MADE! I'd take Godzilla's revenge any day. It felt like they wrote the script first and added Godzilla in later. In fact, Godzilla takes a back seat to Mothra and Battra. The whole film spent most of it's time defining Battra as the main evil monster. But then all of a sudden, Godzilla shows up and now he is the main threat out of nowhere which lead to the awful and random team up of Mothra and Battra. Don't tell me the whole "well he was always the main threat in the film" crap because that's not what the film was trying to do at first. The SFX in that film were terrible and the Mothra puppets looked silly. The final fight was a total bore and it actually has Godzilla LOSE to two silly puppets. I don't watch a Godzilla film to see him lose in the film I want to see him kick ass which he didn't in this film. I was fine with Godzilla vs. The Thing because that was before he made his anti-hero jump. I will always hate that film, I even tried watching it recently and I still hate it. I think the Heisei films tried too hard to be complex and serious. Some worked like Godzilla 85 and Godzilla vs. Desrotayah. But G vs KG and G vs M failed completely.

I will always prefer the Showa films because that where Godzilla and all of the Toho monsters made their mark! Plus, they always had simple stories without being too complex. In many ways the Showa series was like a comic book series, it was silly at times but was serious when it had to be.

We do all fanboy/fangirl out for a bit at times when a new trailer comes out but it's what we need in times when the news gets slow to keep interest high.  Yes, predictions can get old and no one gets an awards or makes that person better than the next if they are right.

On the otherhand though it's NEWS and gives us just a little more insight into the movie and creates new threads, discussion, and ideas which is what this sight is based off of and what it thrives on and furthermore that's why we are all here to share a common interest in which we all love.

I like having a small glimmer of hope into knowing possibly when we will see the next trailer which will be out eventually one way or another.  I can't wait for the next trailer and to see how we can disect it after it comes out.

Now, im not sure if its because my copy of GMK sucks in the subbing department, but in that movie it stated Baragon to be about thirty meters tall. That would make him even smaller than Zilla at 55-60 meters tall. And his length would most likely be 60-70 meters long.

i would say that the son of godzilla suit was the worst.... 

I can understand the complaints against the GMK suit, but I think the positives outweigh the negatives, by far. It's a fantastic design and the animatronics were second to none.

Otherwise I'm really not a fan of any of the Millennium suits. The Godzilla in the Kiryu movies looked better than the Godzilla 2000 suit, but it still suffered from a plastic look to it. Both it and the Final Wars Godzilla also suffer from an oddly curved snout. Sorta looks like Gonzo from the muppets.

I've always felt there are flashes of brilliance in Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II, but nothing that elevates the movie beyond mediocre. It's an improvement over Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth, but just marginally. I think vs. MechaGodzilla II is the kind of movie made for fans who want less human interaction and more monster action. More than any other Heisei film it lets the monsters take the front seat in regards to story. Not exactly my kind of thing, but I guess the younger fans dig it.

glad to see other people weren't partial to the gmk suit and I didn't even think of the stand in suit for mechagodzilla 74. I also got to mention the kiryu godzilla. Blending classic with the 2000 design was an awesome idea but the suit looked so emotionless to me. Now the 84 Godzilla looked like a zombie too  but that worked to it's advantage, made him really creepy. Ah, lets throw in one more, Godzilla Raids again, pure crap.

Yeah, that is the one really big problem I have with that movie (it's my favorite overall, though), especially because it originaly actually did end with Godzilla killing Destoroyah- in fact, it happened pretty much exactly as you described, with Godzilla holding Destoroyah in his grasp as he started to meltdown- but they decided to change it because they wanted Godzilla to have center stage as he died. You can watch it on Youtube by searching "Godzilla vs Destoroyah alternate ending," it's actually fully edited aside from the SFX. I still can't figure out why they couldn't edit it so that he kills Destoroyah and then has his death scene, so that they could give both Godzilla and Destoroyah a respectful death.

Godzilla 2000 and none of the Godzilla's from the Millenium era died. Godzilla 2000 was shown setting fire to Japan after he defeated Orga and the end credits rolled. Godzilla in G x Megaguirus did not die as you heard him roar and the ground shake after the end credits. The Godzilla in Tokyo S.O.S. was badly injured and carried deep into the sea by Kiryu but was not presumed dead. The closest one to actually dying was the GMK Godzilla when he blew up but you still saw his heart beating on the ocean floor which implied a sequel of some sort. I guess you could make a case that the heart could've merged with another life form to become a different monster, but that's another story. And of course Godzilla in Final Wars walked off unscathed.

What is interesting about each Godzilla era is that you never learn what became of the offspring. We never saw Minya from the Showa era grow to adult form and star in a movie or two and Toho never followed through with plans to have Godzilla Junior graduate to his own series of films. It would have been very cool to have Minya in Final Wars grow into another adult Godzilla and fight alongside his father against Kaiser Ghidora and Gigan but that never happened.

We should come up with creative ideas on how Godzilla should die in the new series (not that I want to see that) and then do a poll. That's one thing I haven't seen on this site unless I'm just not seeing it somewhere.  

Can we just stop trying to predict the next trailer already?

It doesn't matter when it comes, the end result is the same. Fanboy/girl screams and a lot of online chatter for about a week before it goes back to the way things were.

"When's the next one?", "When's the next leak?", "Look what I found in the trailer!!", "Do you see what I see in this still image from the trailer?"

It's all going to be the same. So speaking very honestly, can we please just put this to rest already? It doesn't do anyone any good to make these predictions whatsoever.

The first two in the Heisei era, Godzilla 1984 and Godzilla vs. Biollante were great, but Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla was also highly enjoyable. It had a good storyline, a great rematch between Rodan and Godzilla, and what seemed like an unstoppable foe for Godzilla in MG until he was revived by Rodan. I also thought the Rodan and Baby G suits were cool. If I had to rank the Heisei era films, I'd say:

Godzilla 1984

Godzilla vs. Biollante

Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla

Godzilla vs. Destroyah

Godzilla vs. King Ghidora

Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla

Godzilla vs. Mothra

@Mecha Rodan, actually after the first Godzilla died at the hands of Dr. Serizawa and the Oxygen Destroyer, a second Godzilla appeared in Godzilla Raids Again and it was determined that the 2nd Godzilla was of the same species as the first.  As for the continuity in the Showa series, there was none.It was completely ignored until 1984 with The Return of Godzilla which was a direct sequel to the 1954 film.  As for the Heisei series, it's a bit iffy on continuity after Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah becuase they time travel and jump around, ignoring the continuity yet again.  Now, in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, Godzilla Jr. did not become Godzilla 2000, Jr.'s rebirth was just to symbolize that Godzilla will always be present.  It appears to be unclear where Godzilla 2000 stands in regards to continuity in the series, but with the latter films in the Millennium series, they are all direct sequels to the first film (not including Tokyo S.O.S which was a direct sequel to Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla.)  Final Wars...I'm not even going to begin to try and pinpoint where that fits in to the series, but as for your question as to how this new Godzilla will die?   I'll lev you with a quote from Godzilla 1985, "No matter what happens, Godzilla will live."

Don't hate me for this but I hate the 54 original suit with a passion. Love the movie but that suit is horrid. GMK's suit was God awful too. Pot bellied no pupils for the eyes yuck! Son of Godzilla was just a downright ugly suit. Final Wars I dug it a lot except for the ears always hate it when they give him visible ear lobes. Also my all time favorite is the suit used in Destroy All Monsters classic still looks great today in my opinion.

You're actually not alone with that sentiment. A lot of older fans these days really can't stand the Heisei series and their opinions mirror your own: Godzilla '84 and Godzilla vs. Biollante were great films, but Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah was a mess and the following three were bland if not downright terrible.

Godzilla vs. Destroyah seems to be a movie most fans wet themselves over because of Godzilla's burning state and Destroyah relating back to the Oxygen Destroyer. I join them in that pant-wetting, to be perfectly honest, but a lot of it is, admittedly, from nostalgia. Godzilla vs. Destroyah has just as many script problems as Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah and, contrary to some people's belief, is not one of the best movies of the series. I think this meme adequately describes most fans' feelings about Godzilla vs. Destroyah on some sub-concious level:

Now I don't think Godzilla vs. Destroyah is a bad movie. As a matter of fact it's still one of my more favorite films of the series. That said... this meme isn't too far off. (And to be fair I think it's a better movie than Revenge of the Sith.)

But now that I've spent time lamenting the problems with the Heisei series, I also want to say I don't think it's as bad as some older fans believe. Yes there's a lot of underdeveloped potential, some poorly realized ideas and messy storytelling, but the movies still work 70-80% of the time.

The ideas were still more daring than what had come out of the 1970s. The photography was outstanding. the lighting and shots were typically gorgeous. The Godzilla suits were, and probably still are, the standard for Toho suitmation. Some of the character arcs were intruiging and there's some fun battles in the first half of the series.

It's no Showa era, but I always felt it was an adequate, if not logical progression of the series.

I remember watching this as a kid, and I liked it. Maybe I'll give it another go. I remember liking it way more than the movie, and as a kid, i liked the movie. (anything with the name Godzilla on it was "good" to me back then)

I respectully disagree. I get what you're saying, but I think that the Showa era was the worst overall, mostly because everything after Ghidora, the Three-headed Monster is too cornball for me (not that the later movies in other series were not corny, just not in the same way). I'm also not a fan of Millenium, 2000 and GMK were good, but that's it. 

Destroyah's my second favorite (after 54), but you are right, SpaceGodzilla (despite having my favorite badguy) is one stinker of a movie. Mothera's not much better. Biollante is one of my absolute faveorites though.

I agree that all three series start off strong and taper off. I guess I just disagree with your view on Destroyah, which elivates the entire Heisei era for me.

Probably the same way the killed him in the very first film.

also, there are two kind of movies: the pink-girly-romantic-cliche film, where everyone goes just for kisses and stuff; and the good movies that we want to see without any distraction, Godzilla is the second one.

As ugly as the Musukogoji (1967) suit is, I've always had a soft spot for it!  My pick is an odd one.  in 1974, an ugly as all get out publicity suit was created by Toho for public appearences.  It was neer intended to be used in a film, but as the 70s films got cheaper and cheaper, they were forced to utalize it in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and Terror of Mechagodzilla.  It can be seen in the Fake Godzilla vs Anguirus scenes and the first GvsMG battle before Mechagodzilla sheds his skin, and in the last scene of Terror of Mechagodzilla where Godzilla wades into the sea for the last time in the Showa series.  The suit just has this unappealing, somewhat disturbing toothy grin that always rubbs me the wrong way.  He looks like Gwynplaine from The Man Who Laughs. :/

no doubt about it, Son of Godzilla but I also HATE mechagodzilla 1993. They reused the suit in space godzilla but refitted the legs and head better.

Didn't like the Son of Godzilla suit, and I know I'm in the minority here, but I didn't like the GMK suit. In fact, I didn't like any of the suits in that movie. They looked like a bunch of old men with bad backs. Slouched over and awkward. I liked the movie, but not the suits. 

But yeah, almost any from the late 60's - 70's were not that great IMHO.

Yea, I was going to write that same thing. That the suits in GxMekaG films were pretty similar to the GxMegalon suit, just not as cute and annoying. They actually looked really cool. And When MechaGodzilla was in his Godzilla skin costume, THAT Godzilla looked REALLY cool too!

Yeah, the Final Wars Godzilla looked a little weird. Too humanoid/skinny and the lower jaw looked too thin-- like it was going to break off or something...

And I'll take suit/design from Son of Godzilla over the Cute-zilla from Godzilla vs. Megalon. I'm glad they changed the head on that suit for the MechaGodzilla movies.

It sure is!  DC and Legendary Comics.  I don't think it will be out until early May.

Lord knows us lonely nerds need a reason to look forward to Valentine's Day.  Let's hope this trailer is worth it.
