I thought this was real at the begining, then it proved to be false (which didn't really annoy me at all), but what really bugs me is the lack of promotion for this film.

they could at least keep updating the muto site with more hints or something. nothing major. just small tid bits to feed us until its finally released. that would be nice

@GODZILLAFAN1995 I understand your opinion. I personally am very annoyed at the fact that WB and Legendary just make official announcements every 3 or 5 months and then completely disappear for those periods of time without even posting some images (like those they were uploading to the official Facebook page when the Godzilla Encounter was taking place) or just a simple message.

I'm not saying that they should reveal anything about the movie, just curious facts about the Godzilla franchise, commentaries about specific Godzilla films or historic facts are enough, but that long silence they have been keeping becomes really annoying after a while.

I agree with you. Most people around me don't even know that this new Godzilla movie is the real deal, they think that it is a sequel to Emmerich's 1998 film, God Dammit! Some of them even believe that Zilla 1998 is the original Godzilla (!) and that the real japanese Godzilla is actually a ripoff of that movie (!!).

That's just how ignorant lots of people are. I can't just stand listening to people talking about movies and hearing them say "OMG, You read the Avengers 2 news!", "Holy shit! You saw Spiderman's new trailer", "Michael Bay perfectly directs Transformers movies!", "You saw the Transformers 4 superbowl trailer!", "X-Men is going to be epic!", and when I tell them about Godzilla they're like "Really? I didn't knew they were making a new movie!" or "Great! I always wanted to see a sequel with that huge IGUANA", or even "I wonder how they're gonna kill him this time".

There's also some kind of rejection of Kaiju films within the media, a lot of comentators and writers just seem to despise the genre or at least they see it as something silly without any blockbuster potential. Do you remember the days when it became a fashion to say that Pacific Rim was going to flop? Well, the  bloody bastards are doing the same, AGAIN, but this time with Godzilla!

I will be very pissed if the day comes when they will laught at us and tell us (for a second time), "We told you!" as they did with Pacific Rim. Ah! Sorry guys, I'm just really frustrated with this. I've always had faith in this film as a Godzilla film but I'm already fed up with this.

I don't think a trailer will drop today, just don't believe anything anymore. It's their fault if the movie fails, they didn't want to market anything.

As I said on another post, even Cloverfield had better marketing when it came out in 2008. I remember the trailer playing repeatedly at different movies, Hell! In my opinion Cloverfield's Viral Marketing campaign is one of the most clever I've seen, they never revealed the monster but I'm sure as hell I remember that viral marketing didn't appealed only to fans but to everyone interested in the film, it was creepy and very mysterious. I also saw lots of Cloverfield ads and posters (some of these were REALLY HUGE!) at several movie theaters MONTHS BEFORE THE MOVIE CAME OUT. And even though not everyone outside of the Kaiju fans knew what the film was about, many were interested in it because of all the enigmatic imagery.

i remember that too. it was also the forst time i watched gmk and it scared the hell out of the way godzilla behaved. i had never seen him like that before

I have been such a huge g fan my whole life, but I dont wanna jump on the bandwagon by saying your movie is terrible, Zilla. I actually enjoyed it as a movie. It was pretty awesome. I was really young the first time I saw it and I cried whenever we all thought zilla was killed by the torpedoes, just because I really liked Godzilla. I had never had the mindset a lot of people do when I was younger. I still thought of him as Godzilla, he just looked and acted differently, so thats why i didnt want him to die

The difference between Godzilla and the two superhero movies is that superhero movies already have an extremely large fanbase in the US that will absolutely flock to movies of that sort. Godzilla may be well known in the US, but he's not exactly well respected. Most people seem to think of Godzilla solely through the lens of the Showa era, which isn't exactly what many movie-goers seem to want to see these days. Yeah the trailer destroys that notion, but most people haven't SEEN the trailer, because it hasn't really aired much of anywhere. If it's been on TV, no one I know's seen it. :/

Back in 2005 I remember the Sci-Fi channel (Now SyFy) aired a marathon of classic godzilla movies. It was te first time i ad ever watched GMK, Destroy All Monsters, and Godzilla vs. Hedorah. There were a few others, too, but i dont remember. Why aren't they doing that anymore? The only other time ive seen a godzilla movie on tv was when TCM aired Godzilla King of the Monsters, and even that hasnt been on afterwards.

if they did not belive that godzilla would do well against TASM2 and Xmen then why would they release the movie in between those movies, that shows that warner bros has confidence that this movie will do good, also again i will say it, THERE IS PLENTY OF TIME TO PROMOTE THIS MOVIE. give them a bloody chance, i see no other website complain so much, spiderman may ahve relased 3 trailers but sony pretty much spolied the movie, xmen dofp has only released ONE trailer and covers of it's chracters on empire magazine, however i am hearing people complain the character designs (e.g. quicksilver and the sentinals), so please please PLEASE gfans stop complaining about the promotion THERE IS PLENTY OF TIME

@G_Fan _84 That's part of why people are feeling so anxious. If nothing's going to come out before May, then it implies a lot about how much confidence Legendary has in the movie. From what I've seen, I'm honestly considering the idea that they might be withholding a lot of marketing so they can save money since they seem to believe that Godzilla will NOT be able to compete with the two blockbusters in question.

i do respect the suits, but it is outdated, i remember reading an article that was about sauitmation and cgi, it tells that things like ultraman is gearing more towards cgi and that Eiji Tsuburaya would've gone towards cgi if he were alive (stated by someone invloved in Tsburaya studios)

OH JEEBUS!!!! thats right AMC just take a steamin hot s**t on the franchise as if things were'nt bad enough why could'nt it they air GOJIRA or GODZILLA king of the monsters.

I personally prefer the versatility and overall look of CGI, but I still have the utmost respect for those that can make suitmation look good like Toho. Still, if they begin making movies again, I really hope they take their time and imput some CGI into the mix, for a more fluidly moving Godzilla. On the topic of Toho making monster movies in the future, I really hope they make something for Mothra like her movies in the 80's/90's (can't remember which specifically), as those were a big part of my childhood alongside Godzilla. :)

so what you are saying is that warner bros is risking a movie that will make them loads of money because legendary are going their seperate ways, from a buisness stand point why would they do that, no one has complianted about the marketing except for gfans (not being harsh) there is still plenty of time to market the movie.

It was the airing for the 1998 Godzilla, it didn't cross my mind that they just reused the old Facebook for it until after I posted, and I searched my guide and what do you know, Godzilla (1998) comes on AMC at 10am

Don't forget guys, a trailer already exists and has been running for months. It was the most viewed trailer on youtube in January as well so people are definitely aware of this movie. Do we need more marketing material? I would like some as I'm sure we all would, just to satiate us, but I'm of the school of people who thinks it's actually damaging to the movie to show the creatures in any detail before it's released. I want to preserve that feeling of awe for when I'm sat in the theatre on release day.

Suitmation works in the older movies.

True, Zilla, your film wasn't the Godzilla that we are used to, but I own the Monster Edition of the film on DVD and a few of the Animated Series DVD.  I enjoyed Godzilla 1998 even thought there are a fw things I would've changed.  Now, the animated series Godzilla, that was close to what we're used to with the atomic breath and fighting other monsters.  So, Zilla, your son lived up to what you wanted to be.

i neca said they are showing classic godzilla toys including their toy version of 1954 godzilla instead of 2014 godzilla at the toy fair, i don't know about the others.
