Actually, I'm starting to think that the MUTOs are being used AGAINST Godzilla...

Just from some of the info that's come out, and the (somewhat scant) evidence that the MUTOs have been studied/observed...

Perhaps I should've put a [sarcasm] tag on my last post.

2 covers for a major film magazine, a new trailer and poster all in one week isn't good marketing? C'mon guys. Read between my lines here.

Let's make sure to delete all dupe threads and leave this to oen thread, there have been many rodan threads, but again it's not Rodan. Rodan lovers you are in denial, step 1 is admitting, step 2 is accepting the fact these are new monsters. Time to let it go.

Please, I think this site needs more mods. Those scenes are from a movie called Pacific Rim, those are not muto. This thread will need a lock along with many other pointless or duplicate threads.

They're the same, the difference is that the bottom Godzilla head is the head kids are gonna see on the toys and whatnot. It's the same Godzilla, their just making him look friendlier on the bottom.

The only thing I see that's different is the skin tone. I believe this is a hero shot of Godzilla locked in battle with the military maybe after a run in or two with the M.U.T.O. monsters where injuries have been sustained. After all they are selling a "Battle damaged" Godzilla toy you guys are really beginning to over analyze this stuff. Just be happy it's not Crapzilla from 98 and continue to be patient we're in the home stretch run now.

I do see a resmblance to Rodan. The two protrusions could be legs. However, why is Rodan diving underwater?

True American GodzillaGodzilla 2014 ForumHow Many Monsters Is This Movie Going To Have???

It was neat seeing the flying Muto pictured in the trailer. Someone on the Toho Kingdom Forum made this animated gif (from the trailer) of the Flying Muto in another scene...

...and this comparison image of the Muto Train scene and that flying scene...

So I still think it will be the 2 Mutos (one winged and one land based). I know the trailer showed an egg looking thing at one part, making me wonder if we will see multiple baby Mutos.

I really like the way you think. Unfortunately, I believe that Godzilla will fight only two monsters, the winged one and the 8 legged one (which is likely aquatic). I really love the design of the thing in the 2012 teaser; it was almost like a multi legged monitor lizard, really cool. And while it is definitely possible that the red spines destroying the bridge are those of it or something similar, many people have their doubts. We will have to wait and see (I actually theorized that it was the 8 legged muto). But to go along with what you said:

1 and 2. I believe the winged muto IS the clawed one. It was described as having claws

3. I also think that was the winged muto. According to many sources, the winged monster is so much smaller and weaker than Godzilla

4 and 5. Personally, this seems to line up perfectly. The 2012 monster is both reddish in color, somewhat spiky, and 8-legged. It is entirely possible that this is the thing destroying the bridge

6. I think these were actually Muto eggs, not a tentacle

7. I believe this is belonging to a species of Godzilla

I think what we saw in the recent trailer is the final design, due to the fact that those were actual scenes from the movie.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed this!  It seems the design has done some serious morphing through out the trailers, the posters, and even the toys (as simplified as they may be.).  The face in particular has dne some changing, but ithe designs are probably closer than it seems.  The Empire cover and the Brazilian poster seem pretty different, but it might be a question of angle.  The color has definitely changed though, from Godzilla's usual charcoal gray to a brownish color.  This makes since though!  Fun fact: the original Godzilla suit was actually brown!  Ya can't tell, for obveous reasons, but it falls into the "this is the original Godzilla" thing that Legendary has been pushing!

No matter how much thedesign has changed, one thing is for sure... THIS IS GODZILLA!!!!!!!! :D

Wow, hadn't noticed the human corpses in the giant skeleton. That is mysterious. I'm wondering if the skeleton is ANOTHER American Godzilla (just like the so-called 'leaked script' said)?

Actually, depending on the type of radiation (beta, gamma, etc) "normal" clothing such as heavy coveralls, or a Tyvek suit, gloves, botts, etc., would provide an appropriate level of protection. Of course, appropriate respiratory protection would also be required, especially for Alpha radiation. How do I know this? 2o years in Air Force on NBC warefare team. When you are talking concrete for protection, you'd be looking at other types of radiation such as X-rays, etc.. Movies arent always accurate in that sense.

Well Sh**, Sorry if it wasnt a "PERFECT" topic, but it was something. I respect your statement about my logic, and I can understand how you think. And yes, it was a rushed topic. I had to do something important of the matter and had to finish what I could. Look at my previous topics, they are a lot more detailed than anything else I've done.

The teaser trailer was also a mood piece trailer. Did not expose any plot details nor final designs of the creature. They did change some things about him from when they put together the mood pieces till now

I think he looks badass, the official trailer is out now, I think his design is set in stone

GuateGojiraGodzilla 2014 ForumConcerning the Godzilla Design

Based on the head size and the small size of the teeth (in relation with its body), I can theorize that Godzilla will bite like the Komodo dragon, which have a cutting bite although with the capability of breaking bones, just like the large T. rex.

TW_G-Fan2014Godzilla 2014 ForumConcerning the Godzilla Design

I like the design, and personally don't see a problem with the way things have gone.

The other thing about the poster is that it was created for a licensing expo, and merchendise related to films are not always true to the form of the final film product. Case in point is anything chibi or otherwise recreated for child protection purposes like the toy that was shown of Godzilla with the shorter and rounded spines despite what's in the trailer.

Godzilla's design in the trailer we just got is his final design, and it's no different than the Empire cover. If you look at the shot of Godzilla roaring at the end of the trailer, it's exactly like the Empire Cover. The poster and the 2012 trailer that was leaked were just rough drafts, if you will. The 2013 trailer we got in October was official, and I still consider it to be the first official trailer as it does feature movie footage and dialogue. It's not as epic, but it's an official trailer, not a teaser.

Now I'm not questioning your opinion, as everyone is entitled to their own, but I would like to ask you what your version of 'logic' is regarding this matter.

I'm not trying to be mean, but when I read through your described opinion it comes across as rushed and based more on your taste in what you think should be rather than what actually is. While it's normal to have tastes that shape your wishes and desires, creating an opinion based solely on that part of your own viewpoint is not really logical or relevant to the subject matter. You say you're thinking logically, but I don't see that happening at all. It sounds to me like you're jumping to conclusions based on a lack of thorough knowledge about what's going on.

Again, I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just stating what I'm seeing in your argument.

My ultimate point is that I don't mind the way Legendary has done things, and I love the design and see nothing wrong with the Empire Magazine cover or the trailer's designs. When I look at them, I see the same creature.

Mmmmm, I think they are about the same, the only thing that changed was the slightly larger teeth and the color of the skin. But overall, they look the same.

It is interesting that the head of Godzilla resemple more like that of a Tyrannosaurus rex, which is broad in the cheeks and narrow in the muzzle. This is also observed in tigers and jaguars. This bring a stronger bite force for the predator.

Besides, the position of the body of Godzilla also resemble that of a huge Kodiak bear standing up.

Amazing, big G put together the best predators on himself. :o)

Actually that was the design for the 1st teaser trailer. THey leaked the design in a poster. So the one from the teaser was the same design on the brazil poster.

Well to start, that bottom poster was a mood piece poster. It was never classified by WB or legendary that it was official. I do know I read a statement about this poster somewhere that was stated that this was made before the movie went into post-production. They changed a few details about Godzilla upon finishing

Normal clothing?!  Huh, how did I miss that?! :) (I balme the glare on my screen.) That makes it more perplexing!  Maybe this is an underground catacomb that the Muto's have been using as a nest.  Perhaps smaller Mutos (possibly from those eggs growing on that warhead) are maneaters, and they store their victims undergrown like the monster from The Host did!  Perhaps they have been living down there for several generations, which could explain the skeleton!  I DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!!

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! :O

Speculating is fun! :D

Hmm...

I think another option to the EMP would be something like simple sonic interference. If the MUTO can create some kind of sonic interference, such as with its voice or with it's wings, then it could down the planes without touching them. A good example of such a device would be the kind of echolocation a bat uses. If that were scaled up to monstrous proportions, it could wreak havoc on sensitive electronics like those within planes and on ships. They're so fine tuned to function in a certain way that any disruption is devastating.

Just a thought.

@ danzilla

those suits dont really protect you from radiation, they woudl have to be mad of like 6 ft thick concrete or something to do that! lol. when people wear those suits they only have them on in the radiactive area and then take them off when they leave, this is so they dont spread radiactive material all over the place, thats why they are called containment suits.

You got a interesting point there @LINKZILLA. That makes sense given that in the trailer, Las Vegas had been attacked. Mutos could have escaped and caused havoc. But what I still don't understand in that theory is how Godzilla and the Mutos met if they are so far away.

We'll get our marketing.. Even on the official Legendary FB they posted "The fan reaction to the new Godzilla trailer has been tremendous! So we’re putting on a poster giveaway. In one word, what was your reaction to the trailer?"

So I think they're aware of what they're sitting on.

So while we're on the topic of red things, you should note that Godzilla is glowing red too. Either that or there is something near him in the shot glowing. Take a look:

It doesn't look like it's his atomic breath, unless he is looking in that direction and firing it, although if that was the case, wouldn't that mean his spikes would be glowing? I don't know what this is, and I want to know what you guys think.

I'm just taking a closer look here at the "Rodan" monster. I took a picture of the one in the trailer, and compared it to the 2004 Final Wars Rodan.

In my opinion, they look similar. Here is another picture of Rodan flying:

You also said not much larger than a plane, and the 2004 rodan and this older one look very similar to the creature we saw in the trailer.

Mmmm, the more I see them, the uniforms looks more like those used by the USA army in the WWII.

However, the bodies are still intact, so, they can't be from that date. They most be a modern group of soilders or agents of MUTO.

Interesting!!!

I allready mentioned this in a previous topic, apparently nobody read it.

There is not only the fact that there are several soldiers dead, but also, that they uniforms seems modern ones. Also, the weird thing is that the skeleton itself doesn't look dry at all, so it is not a fossil or anything like that.
