MadisonGodzilla 2014 ForumMy educated guess as to what Godzilla is in this film

Another cool thing about keeping Godzilla's origin's more mysterious, is that it would actually be more realistic that way.

Like, so let's say we nuke some crap, and Godzilla comes rising out of the ocean. We would have NO IDEA where it came from. Nobody would be like: Yep, that's used to be a crocodile...or yep, that used to be a T-Rex.

In order for us to know what Godzilla was, before it was Godzilla, we would have KNOW about the creature's existence BEFORE it became Godzilla.

But if we weren't aware of the creature's existence BEFORE it came Godzilla....how on earth would any scientist able to RETROACTIVELY identify what it came from?

If it came from a creature we didn't know existed....we still don't know it existed just because Godzilla's stomping around.

So yeah, the more REALISTIC take on Godzilla, is honestly to not know what it is. Which helps both realism, and story-telling mystery as a viewer.

Yeah probably. Especially since a single spammer can ony physically generate so many views (and it's a pretty small number. Even if I spammed both trailers 24/7, from now until release day, I could only add 20,000 views to each trailer. Which isn't very much. And of course I just can't practically spam it that hard.

However, if every person registered on Godzilla-Movies.com engaged in similar spamming....the video would add 483....MILLION views during the same period of time.

If all fellow G-Fans, assisted in the spamming!!!! We would Bust Bieber's Billion for sure :-)

Actually all he said was what a dumb question, he did not call you out like that, if I missed it please correct me. Welcome to the forums Mecha G. One thing to keep in mind is people like to voice their opinions here and debate, so don't explode when some people disagree with you. I'm a major G fan myself and so is pretty much everyone on this forum. Keep the discussions clean and everything will be good :)

Hey Guys,

i think everyone who is not reacting like "him" is not a true fan.. ;-)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS_Qw_h3ffw

just kidding... but i would like to see if we can make "him" go viral... his reaction to the trailer is just the strangest and funniest thing i have ever seen, regarding to reaction of trailers.

Maybe if he gets viral and if there will be a sequel, he will be allowed to play a little part in the next movie as a little backround actor :-)
I think he can really call himself a "true fan!", and i would be really glad for him. :D

anyway, have fun watching it.. it is really worth it..

Regards from Germany..

launch date for this movie here, is 15.05.2014 btw ;-)

I dunno, I've buffed the viewcount of several videos doing that same kind of thing before.

Maybe Youtube does have a way to catch it......but it's definitely not super-effective.

As far as 'fake' views vs 'real' views.....I'm not trying to make the main trailer beat the teaser. BOTH trailers are in the playlist. I'm just interested in Godzilla getting more views.

More views (fake or otherwise) in turn GENERATES more views, because then the video makes it on viral video websites, gets press in video tracking news articles, etc. and so forth.

I ultimately don't care how many views the trailer gets in terms of a number. I just want the trailer to be viewed by the most number of people as possible. The two main ways to do that, are to A: Share It (which I do also) and B: VIEW IT as things with more views get attention and press....which lead to......more views.

One theory people aren't really talking about is the idea put forth in (and i know it's more of a family movie) The Water Horse. In that tale there was only ever one water horse (Nessie) and right before it died it laid an egg that would produce the next animal. I kinda feel like that could apply to Godzilla

@ERWINGFAN91
"Godzilla's exact origins vary, but it is generally depicted as an enormous, violent, prehistoric sea monster awakened and empowered by nuclear radiation."
It's a fictional franchise about a giant kaiju fighting monsters, destroying cities, ect. Toho didn't worry too much about keeping it real.

Now here is my rational explaination; At this very moment in time we know close to nothing about our oceans and what lies on the bottom, (for all we really know something could really be down there, lol). The nuclear blasts from World War II awaken the sleeping beast from deep in the ocean with the impact of the bombs, and here we are.

Eh, I really don't like any those dinosaur/really ancient animal explanations for what Godzilla is. I'd much prefer Godzilla to be a mutation of something more modern.

I detailed reasoning for it in a separate discussion, but in summary, it creates a second, UN-NECESSARY layer of disbelief to overcome.

Like, the fact that nuclear bombs mutated/awoke a creature and it becomes Godzilla (no matter what animal you pick from) is one layer of disbelief you have to set aside.

Picking any kind of extraordinarily ancient animal adds that second layer, because now you need an explanation for both how the nuclear weapons activated the monster, but you ALSO need a separate explanation for how the monster survived for MILLIONS OF YEARS, was exempt from the fossil record, can suddenly breath our atmosphere, adjust to our climate (especially for a reptile climate is important) and so on and so forth.

It just increases the level of ridiculous absurdity that a viewer has to swallow when Godzilla has be millions of years old. There's no reason for it. It is JUST as likely that a nuke would mutate a crocodile into Godzilla as a nuke would mutate an ancient sleeping dinosaur or whatever into Godzilla. So provided the animal into Godzilla mutation via nuke is equally likely no matter what animal you pick.....why pick an animal whose very existence is also ridiculously implausible?

As mentioned in other threads by other people, I almost kind of prefer when Godzilla's origins are made to be more mysterious and not completely explained. I think it adds to the awe of the creature. But provided they do explain it, I really hope it isn't millions of years old.

I love the godzilla movies, huge fan. However what I dont get in the godzilla franchise is how it's possible for an prehistoric creature to live that long. Doesn't godzilla die of old age? Howcome godzilla is not discovered earlier in human history? Maybe I am thinking too much in it. I am looking forward to the new movie.

@Gigan3001, very unlikely, if you look at the bomb on the beach durn the Close-up shot, there is clearly a graphic representation of Godzilla painted on the side of the bomb with a circle and a line through it.  The bombs were used to try and kill Godzilla, it could be reversed and the MUTO's were created by accident, but they were definitely trying to kill Godzilla.

MadisonGodzilla 2014 ForumMain Godzilla trailer has reached 10 million views

The Dec. 10th trailer reached 9 million views in 48 hours.

As you mentioned, this trailer got 10 million in the same time frame. So if you're looking at views per hour, this new trailer is racking in more, leading to me to believe it's total view count when it is all said and done will be higher than the Dec. 10th trailer.

Not too mention, the Dec. 10th trailer was sort of released in a vacuum, surrounded by no additional marketing. This new one has other Godzilla things floating around at the same time which will draw more people's attention to the trailer. The Dec. 10th did have a strong movie release though, which this February one lacks.

It's actually kinda cool, in that the release of this second trailer has also buffed the views of the first one. Before this launched, the Dec. 10 trailer had 13.2 million views.....now it has 13.9 million, on pace to crack 14 million here pretty soon.

I DO think this February trailer will beat out the Dec. 10th trailer for views. However, it probably will not do so by a huge margin since it doesn't have a strong movie to piggy-back off of. Feb Trailer will probably peeter out around 15-16 million views, while the Dec. 10th trailer will rest at a comfortable 14 million.

This is of course until a (potentianlly non-existent) 3rd trailer comes out or T.V. spots start hitting which will generate views again.

My recommendation is put both trailers in a playlist, and set that playlist to loop any time you are at your computer at all, ever, til the movie comes out. You can mute that tab so and put it in the background so you don't have to listen to it or even watch it if you don't want to, but it will inflate the hell out of the view counts if people get on board. I'm doing it myself right now :-)

well maybe, remeber it is a main trailer and the one in december was a teaser trailer, teaser trailers usally get a lower view count compared to the 1st Main Trailer, and this trailer has got ALOT of positive reviews by, youtube movie reviewers, IGN and other entertainment sites, even AMC movie news was blown away by this trailer, they didn't like the teaser trailer much and even said that Godzilla has no chance against spiderman, but they had their jaw dropped by this main trailer

Nobody ever listens to what I say.

even in the film it was obvious it wasn't, plot wise it was named Godzilla from the scared fisherman when you really cant have another name for a giant reptilian sea attack. They only could name it what was closest to.

If you find a large reptilian creature your first impression is something similar (dinosaur or something similar)

yeah it may not be a dinosaur but that's what you'd think in the beginning.

so a scared Japenese fisherman clearly would think a large reptilian swimmer would be dubbed its closest relation.

plus it was mentioned in GMK so it is a valid godzilla film. I enjoy and still watch the movie. I know these points as my facts which allow me to watch and enjoy it.

zillahater I know its in your character and you joke about it, but honestly the movie was not terribad

I do consider it apart of the franchise but then again, I don't. The 1998 film was a re-imagining. Not a sequal, not a piece to the story, no ties really. Just a re-imagining of the monster Toho created.

In Godzilla 2000 and a few others I'm sure of he fed off energy.
This theory has been around quite some time, and from what the trailer shows he can survive the intial blasts. Which means well we're screwed and Godzilla is unstoppable. On another note, Godzilla inspired Gamera. Godzilla isn't a dinosaur and none of his orgins ties to that theory. If you're talking about the 1998 Godzilla, well this movie has absolutely nothing to do with that film.

No ammount of insulting original Godzilla or 98 Godzilla will change the fact that it is part of the franchise-- just because someone doesn't like something... doesn't make it any less acknowledgable.

the 98 movie is cannon in the Godzilla universe, but it is not a Godzilla movie because the monster isnt Godzilla.
