anouther thing is that this trailer and the g events after have proved that godzilla is very popular around the world and has convinced and excited more people than the teaser trailer did, even those who didn't like the teaser trailer loved this one. also the origami may forshadow that the flying MUTO is a bird and the thing attacking the plant maybe the spider-like-monster
don't get me wrong; I think the blue breath would be cool. I just don't consider toy packaging to be canon. There are still too many unknowns at this point.
In fact, we continue to see red glows related to MUTOs and Godzilla in the actual movie trailer. I would not rule out red breath as a possibility.
but the sinkholes were part of the promotion leading to the teaser trailer, it be nice to see the sinkholes in furture trailers/ tv spots or actual film photos. also most of that toy matches the actual design, but then again you are right as well, we can only know when either, someone asks gareth edwards in the QnA the screening of gojira 1954 or when the movie comes out
really the only thing sony care when it comes to it's godzilla dvds is their 98 film, they could make money off the heisei and millenium dvds if they sold them internationally but no, they think that only america is interested in the toho godzilla, even though universal released GvsKK and BFI released Gojira, although the UK GvsKK has virtually no special features beside the movie. same with classic media, they could make money off their godzilla dvd rights if they sold them in places like europe, especially since they got the good movies and movies that were released in the uk theatrically, but no we can only have gojira gvskk and the only blu ray godzilla has to be 98, even though the Godzilla 2014 MAIN trailer and the events after have proved that godzilla is very popular outside of america and japan.
M.U.T.O. is a shadowy governmental organization with more knowledge about this.
There are unexplained sinkholes opening across the world.
also: the blue breath was only on the back of a toy package. I wouldn't consider that confirmed.
Possible Sink Hole Explanation
When I saw the Main Trailer for the first time, I noticed something. With beautiful camera work, the 3 origami pieces in the top left corner of the Power plant shot looked like jet planes or birds or insects flying over the power plant as it was being decimated. I couldn't imagine that was coincidence. I knew that illusion in the camerawork was there for a reason.
And after the Gareth Edwards breakdown of the trailer (which you should all watch. It's about 11 minutes long) he stops specifically to talk about that scene and the origami pieces and that it was foreshadowing something.
Now, I'm going to assume here that the flying MUTO is an insect-type being and not a Rodan-type one. Based off my knowledge of insects (I'm a bio major), there are countless of different species of flying Arthropods that burrow deep within the earth to form their nests/dwellings. Maybe the origami pieces aren't symbolizing an attack from above, but from underground. We've essentially come to the conclusion that the MUTOs feed off radiation and possibly even use radiation to grow their offspring. So, they built a colony under the plant. Not just that one, but under many other nuclear sources.
I initially thought that it was Godzilla that attacked the plant- but Godzilla would obviously be seen.
Plus, the plant seems not to be blowing up, but buckling and sinking into the ground. Maybe around the sinkholes shown in the MUTOResearch website were sights of nuclear powered sources. I remember seeing the MUTOResearch pictures and in the pictures in the jungle there were buildings near the sinkholes. Perhaps they were just not taken down from the surface buckling. Plus, it seems that the MUTOs are being covered up by the government more than Godzilla is being covered up because they actually have excuses for the MUTO attacks whereas they just send test bombs into the Pacific Ocean for Godzilla hoping it'll kill him. Which is why I think Cranston is yelling at whoever is at the other end of that mirror about the MUTOs.
It's sort of like that ultimate denial real world people have. Like where we believe we're all currently safe in this very moment when way back in our heads we're aware that this world can be changed in an instant(war). In the film I think they're just trying to assume nothing will happen with the MUTOs and Godzilla but the danger always looms in the back of our heads until it finally happens and we're like "damn". Not saying I cracked a code, just speculating a bit!
Yeah, that was a particularly awful DVD release. Both were cropped for full screen and implemented VHS quality. Sony's DVD for the SpaceGodzilla/Destroyah double feature was actually gorgeous though. It's just a shame they didn't include the Japanese audio.
really i LOVE this trailer, in a unbiased oppinion it is probably one of the best trailers, the trailer looks like something you put a lot of work, they gave us so much and yet kept didn't have near to no spoilers, it got rid of some fears and specualtion like what godzilla pretty much looks like, the fact that he was asleep then woken up by the hbombs like the original and the fact they manipulated history to serve this movie (the nuclear 'tests' in the pacific being actual attempts to kill him) but what i found the best part was the dialogue they included, especially ken wantanabe's dialogue.
also i think this is the only trailer 'main' trailer we will have for a while, i say this becuase normally if there will be more than 1 main trailer they have main trailer #1 and then #2, this one does not have number, although we will still get the tv spots.
well it's better if they use tohos dvds instead of making the quality crap like they did with GvsKG/M double feature
@GodzillaFan1995
I have a theory on why vs. Destroyah is bundled with vs. Megaguirus. Sony put more effort and money into Godzilla 2000, so that's probably the only movie that will get a single bluray release. Sony is just trying to pull a little more money off of that title and they'll probably sell it for the same price as the double features to make an extra buck off of it.
Thus vs. Destroyah will get bundled with vs. Megaguirus and GMK will probably get bundled with against MechaGodzilla.
That's just a guess though. My hope is all three of those movies will include the Japanese versions with more accurate subtitles... Although I won't hold my breath for the subtitle bit...
It's very likely every one of Sony's releases will include Toho's High Def transfers.
Well, on Saturday, I received confirmation from Toywiz saying that my order, including this item, The Deluxe Destruction Pack and the Winged Muto will be shipped on March 19.
Best of luck Jordan. I think one of the problems is that the number of duplicates tend to outnumber the mods. It's noone's fault really, we all have lives outside this forum. It's simply that a mop-up crew for this forum has their work cut out for them.
if you look left of the falling helicopter at 2:11 or 2:12, just about when you first see the helicopter, pause it and look left of the helicopter. you will see what looks like a wing and a head moving from behind it, i know its a head because if you watch it frame by frame, you see the head, or at least the mouth, moving and opening up a bit. it also matches the color of teh wings on the flyin gmonster and the wing part looks identical. this also explains why the helicopter is on fire and falling. you might have to watch it a few times but you will see it eventually :D
put this here cause my topic about it got closed :P
anouther thing, why is GvsD double billed with Megagirus, wouldn't it make more sense to have G2000. hopefully their Hesei releases have better quality than their dvd releases, they better be the original japanese quality and upscaled/remastered
@GodzillaFan1995
Sony's attitude toward Godzilla releases has always been very fast and loose, which is evident in their past releases. They use "dubtitles" (translations from the english dub, instead of direct translations from the Japanese version) for subtitles and typically don't include special features.
In the 1990s they simply used the double feature DVDs to cash in on the hopeful success of their own movie. Problem is the Godzilla VHS/DVDs sold pretty well in the 1990s, but there was backlash from fans wanting widescreen/Japanese versions. They've changed their tune a little bit, but ultimately they still look at Godzilla movies as budget releases.
The nice thing about bluray, though, is that bluray discs can hold two Godzilla movies without hurting the picture quality. I just hope we get Japanese versions of Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth, Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla and Godzilla vs. Destroyah, with full credits and proper subtitles.
I also hope Godzilla 2000, GMK and Godzilla x MechaGodzilla follow soon, as those are my three favorite Millennium movies...
@Jmac15
It's a rights issue that hasn't bee resolved yet. Toho's hands are tied and right now they can't sell Godzilla 1985/The Return of Godzilla until the rights issue has "expired". I don't know the specifics. More knowledgable people on the subject might. In any case, when Godzilla 1985/The Return of Godzilla does become available I'm sure there will be some distributors chomping at the bit to release it in North America. It's status as a cult classic is pretty high.
I think I'm on board with some of what you said @GMAN2887 To start, I think I'm going to make a thread and sticky it "Godzilla Main Trailer Discussion"
There are many topics already about the flying mutos. closing thread
i REALLY want to get my hands on that destruction pack
Bob the Destroyer
cool find someone preodered one and got it early here is the linkhttp://kaijubattle.blogspot.com/2014/03/one-lucky-fan-gets-godzilla-2014-toy.html
Thanks Madison, but it's probably closer to 80-85% of the time. ;)
As far as the forum goes, even if some posters are aggressive, (I can be aggressive as well) I can typically look past it as long as they're trying to make some sort of external point. If some people make posts that are only used to be insulting, and have nothing to do with the movies, that's something else entirely.
My main issue about the forum is the number of repeat topics and solo topics that could've been brought up in other threads. I think InstinctiveGigan did a pretty good job of nailing down duplicate topics for a few hours after the new trailer was released, but he can't be everywhere at once.
All these topics I've listed are about details people noticed in the new trailer that could have easily been put in one, single topic:
1)"Guys! I Noticed Another Brief Glimpse of the Flying Monster,"
2)"Main Godzilla Trailer Observations,"
3) "13 Million,"
4) "15 Years Ago,"
5) "I'm Really Surprised at the Popularity of Godzilla Since the Main Traler's Release,"
6) "Godzilla Trailer Breakdown with Gareth Edwards,"
7) "Godzilla 2014 Analysis: Flying Muto is of Pterandodon Species?"
8) "Flying Muto Powers,"
9) "Godzilla Haters are no Match for Us,"
10) "Godzilla Fan Freaks Out with Main Trailer,"
11) "Something That Serizawa Said,"
12) "Were We Going to Get a 90 Sec Trailer Cut,"
13) "Muto Looks Like Rodan in the New Trailer,"
14) "Godzilla Red Glow?"
15) "So Who or What Woke Up Godzilla?"
16) "The Shobijin in the New Trailer?"
17) "What did you Think of the CG in the New Trailer?"
18) "The Water Scene, I Have Seen it Before,"
19)"Better Look at Muto Monster (?)"
20) "Things I Noticed in the New Trailer,"
21) "Some Point I Have to Make + New Trailer Discoveries,"
22) "Statue of Liberty?"
23) "4M Views in Less Than 24 Hours,"
24) "Odd Shot from the New Trailer,"
25) "So What Are Your Thoughts on the Part in the Trailer Where You See that Bomb Wrapped Up in Slime?"
26) "How Every Godzilla Fan Should Feel After that Trailer,"
27) "Monster Paths and Scene Speculation,"
28) "Godzilla 2014 Trailer 2 Muto Claw,"
29) "My Godzilla Trailer Experience,"
30)"Possible Nod to Edward's First Film,"
I'm not even including the closed topics. The point is all the comments in the first posts of the threads I listed were directly inspired by the second trailer and barely held a conversation of their own. The proof is that most of these topics barely got past 5 replies and were quickly forgotten. Everything mentioned in every single one of those threads is relevant to the trailer and could've inspired conversation in a single, specific "Godzilla Trailer 2" thread. There's no reason to create sub-categories of every little thing on here.
Another example is we don't need specific topics about Godzilla's gills, or chest, or feet, or spines, or tail or...etc... There's nothing wrong with simply talking about all of those features in one, single, "Godzilla's New Design" thread.
I'm also a member at Monster Zero. They have a thread where they talk about all of this stuff in a single topic. It's called "Godzilla 2014 Part 3" (parts one and two got closed for going too long and eventually getting out of hand). "Godzilla 2014 Part 3" has 7230 replies. The conversation has been solidified into that one thread and it has been very fruitful! It's still going strong.
Now I don't expect this forum to do the same exact thing. There's a lot of youngsters on here and they like to have their voice heard. But there's no reason to have so many topics based and inspired by the exact same thing. "Godzilla Red Glow" and "Shobijin in the New Trailer" are details that were noticed in the recent trailer. They could have been mentioned in an official trailer 2 thread and added to that conversation. There was no reason for them to have their own threads that only inspired a handful of replies.
This kind of thing clutters the forum to such a degree that I tend to not want to post for awhile. When I saw so many duplicate topics and ideas, I decided I'd just come back when the hype after the trailer died a little bit. It wasn't worth swimming through 30 sub-topics that didn't go anywhere. (Even though I just did to prove a point...)
But that's me...
actually the the person who owns this got the toy early by mistake form toys r us
yeah i hope it is blue i like that more that his red version and it gives him his classic feel and guys sorry for the misstypes lol
I also spotted one near by the distyroyed Golden Gate Brige.
I'll ad that I think the monster that they shoot flairs toward to get a better look is also the same creature that is diving into the ocean. If you look at the reith side you can see what looks lke a wing attachemnt where it meats the chest. Certainly that chest is nothing like Godzillas's.
Also, take a look back a couple years. A bust was leaked from Legendary. Brian Rogers gets misinterpreted to say it's not from the movie. All he actually said was "That's not our Godzilla." Could this be a hint of the flying MUTO?
http://www.beyondhollywood.com/godzilla-3d-producer-talks-reboot-rumors/
Compare the textures on the neck of the bust with those in the flair shot. They look pretty similar to me.
I took some screenshots of what you're describing. :)

i saw it too!! :D i did'nt make a disscusion cuz it would've caused some u know...."arguments" but yeah Great Find bro! that really looks like its the flying muto! :) same color too
anyone else notice the giant skeleton in the trailer? Anyone else notice that ken watanabe's character is named serizawa. This movie has direct ties to the oxygen destroyer an. It would make lots of sense for the monster to be tied to that. My guess for the monster is destroyah because the mutos sorta sound like the earlier forrms of him. Anyone care to share their opinion?
You have covered everything bro.......nice work, very detailed too.
The last image does look like the queen meganulan from the concept trailer. If this is Gareth Edwards' idea of an "original monster", taking an existing monster from Rodan and changing the feet and color, then I have some reservations about the final film.
you know what, this is starting to sound like a wierd mix between rodan and megaguirus.
If the toy fair desciption wasn't buglike I might see the chances, but since we know 1 flying monster in the film looks like mothra with Gigan' hooks I don't see a Rodan like monster making an appearance. Unless there are 2 flying monsters but doubt it.
I found something interesting about that flying MUTO. I thought it could be Rodan or somethin like that but I believe it is something totally different. If you freeze the trailer during the scene where the bridge is visible you can see something flying around in the background. If you freeze it just right you can see someing with two wings and a tail. After you find it then go and look up flying destroyah and comapair the tail to the scene where the flying creature is diving into the water.
I like to think it's a homage to Rodan. Although I have heard rumor of the Giant Condor.
Or maybe it's this:

(Does your name happen to be reference to the third colossus from 'Shadow of the Colossus'?)
@kaijufan, what website did you get your sorce from? (just wondering.)
but if they are being realised on March 17, I'll be sure to buy them and post a toy review on youtube ( I might not post a toy review though.)
B.T.W., that link is funny, having it shiped early lolz!
I don't think the movie will actually reference Godzilla's past franchise in its timeline.
Here's my current understanding of the timeline, based on trailers and interviews with the director:
1950s - Godzilla awakened (created?) by nuclear testing in the Pacific. Some "natural" disasters on islands occur as a result of his presence.
1956 - The US government (and perhaps Japan) is aware of the beast and unsuccessfully tries to use nuclear weapons to destroy it. The world thinks these are nuclear tests.
1956 - Based on presumed-to-be-unreliable story of a monster in the Pacific, Toho makes a movie about "Gojira", a giant radioactive monster, fitting the description given to them.
1960s-90s - "Godzilla" becomes a popular movie franchise, prompting Toho to create more and more fictional monsters to battle Godzilla in the movies, who is now a heroic figure. Note that these monsters are all FICTIONAL in this world (in other words, this is a complete wipe and reboot).
1999? - The real Godzilla, however, is still around. Tremors caused by him cause a nuclear plant accident in Japan where Bryan Cranston's character works as a nuclear physicist along with his wife. The accident is blamed on an earthquake.
2014? - 15 years later, still haunted by the events in Japan, Cranston pieces together details of other "natural" disasters and concludes that government(s) are hiding the real cause.
2014? - Perhaps as a potential defense against Godzilla, the government has been creating giant creatures (MUTOs) in the Nevada desert. They are either released or escape and end up battling the big guy.
Bandai is preapring to ship them out the the retailers to meet the street date, March 17
