this topic should be closed now, that way people actually read the answer instead of just reading the title and replying straight away
I don't think there is a need for another thread on this subject. And we don't need to spread any more confusion on this matter. If anyone has any further comments on false news and confusion, you can place them here. Thanks:

I'd remake DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, but change NOTHING. I'd leave it exactly the same, except for updated effects to make it look STUNNING. but I love the campy dialog and story line.
Very true. I preordered mine 3 weeks ago. I know it hasnt shipped yet but I keep getting excited about it so Im always checking my Amazaon orders to see if its coming yet! lol
BuIm the same way with the movie tickets. I keep checking all of the sites that sell tickets for Imax theatres in my area, (mainly the Harkins website) to see when theyll be ready. The Imax I will be seeing at told me that they will start preorders roughly 4 weeks before it premiers.
Another artists original kaiju done in zBrush by me. XEXON.

I thought people cleared up a long time ago that those weren't gills Godzilla had. It's just the plating of his skin makes it look like that.
That's not a glitch. Rialto Pictures is going to rerelease Godzilla 1954 across the country on April 18, 2014. So it's probably just some confusion. You can check out the dates and information here:

I'm more inclined to believe that the modern-day Godzilla (for the new film's canon) was the result of a very divergent evolutionary line following the end of the late Triassic and/or early Jurassic, whereby whichever species had been the missing link between water-dwelling and fully-terrestrial creatures, likely a convergent evolutionary line to eventual plesiosaurs and mosasaurs, would have been more successful in navigating and surviving nuclear radiation pools, which would allow the species, over a VERY long time, to naturally mutate and evolve alongside the radiation, eventually surpassing their natural biological restraints to become creatures that spat in the face of doubting physics.
This would allow the species to more easily suvive the many millenia following the KT-event 65 million years ago, living onwards into the cenozoic era. However, competition with other similarly evolved species, including the as-of-yet unknown "MUTO" creature, would eventually reduce the populations of all of these species down to extremely powerful, but very few in number, individuals whom would eventually be known as "Kaiju", the living embodiement of "gods".
seriously do some of you guys just reply straight away instead of looking at other people's respenses first, after all some of them have given the truth behind this date that every has only just realized, APRIL 18TH IS THE U.S RE-RELEASE OF RIALOTO'S GODZILLA: THE JAPANESE ORIGINAL
@biggestgodzillafan
it wont this is a mistake that happened none of this is true :)
Who ever made that April thing,I'm reporting you....
My bday is in may :( please don't be in april
well needless to say more of this will be revealed soon most likly in the godzilla awakening graphic novel which of course i will be getting soon ;)
well yeh i suppose. altough i'd prefer the godzilla in the new movie to be the last of his kind, or seem to be the last of his kind, as it adss both mystery of his species and gives this godzilla some tragedy.
UPDATE #10: Classic Media has released special features details on their 2 Disc Gojira/Godzilla: King of the Monsters re-release. No surprise, but they're the exact same features from their release nearly 10 years ago. Same discs. New packaging.
Classic Media is also considering repackaging the rest of their Godzilla titles later this year. They currently have no plans to release them on Bluray, however...
Info from Scifi Japan.
@godzillafan1995
still though gareth did say that his favorite film is the 1954 film and seeing the original one again for the 100th time also i am suggesting that godzilla in the original film was also an already exsisting creature just like gareth is going for with this one :)
i know this will never happen but remember the plans that mr. banno had about reviving hedorah and calling him deathla? well i always thought deathla would make an appereance some time but mr. banno was denied with that plan so i fully understand that deathla will never make an appereance any time soon. however seeing hedorah again would be nice :)
Well, while some of that is sound, its not really a good explanation. If I may, Id like to insert this. You are partially correct about the Precambrian, except for the fact that there were very large and very deep oceans in that era. In fact, most life on Earth got its start in those oceans. But you are correct on the part about Godzilla not being from that era. Thats because in order for a creature of his mass to have existed, he would've started millions of years before that, so unless Godzilla formed with the Earth, it wouldn't be possible.
A more accurate time period for him to have originated in would be between the Mesozoic (Time of the Dinosaurs) and the Cenozoic (Time of the Mammals, our era.) Both of which are part of the greater Era, known as the Phanerozoic. In this great time span, consisting of 3 seperate eras, (the first being the Paleozoic, predating the Meso and Cenozoic eras) his species would have had enough time to evolve to the point where certain events over the Phanerzoic time frame would push him into what we know him to be today.
My growing theory has been that, his species of animal (we'll say Godzillasaur, just to please other fans of old) was one of several massive creatures that dominated the earth in the late Cretacious. At first they would have been around the size, (or bigger) than the largest Sauropods on land. Imagine a Giganotasaurus that was taller and heavier than an Argentinasaurus, and you'll get the image. Due to them having amphibious abilities, (which I would go to say work similar to a whales, being able to hold their breathe for very long periods of time, sorry gill fans) gave them a much greater chance at surviving the several extinctions that happened over the 3 time periods. Especially one great extinction in particular.
We all know that roughly 65 million years ago, the greatest exctinction on record occurd when 1 or possibly even more giant meteors struck the Earth. As they have done before, the Godzillasaurs escaped doom by hiding out in the oceans, (possibly even hiding in deep and ancient magma caverns beneath the sea), until a time came when they could resurrface and walk the land again. When they came out of hiding, the Earth was still chocked full of heavy radiation, brought by the meteor(s). Being a very resiliant species, the Godzillasaurs began to absorb and grow from the radiation. Whether it be from feeding on the fallen and radiated corpses of dinosaurs, or swimming in nuked waters, they took it into their systems.
Unfortunately, this also led to a food shortage. They kept growing, but their food suply diminished. Unable to sustain themselves, these now rightfully huge Kaiju began fighting amongst themselves, killing eachother to survive. When the dust finally settled at the beginning of the Cenozoic (Dawn of the Mammals), only a few remained. While a couple went into a state of deep hibernation (Godzilla and perhaps another of his kind) the others died off of either old age or starvation.
Bring us to the 1950's, when Humans, now the "dominant" species of Earth, have created great weapons of mass destruction, holding enough radiation to match that of the Great Mesozoic Extinction. After letting a couple off, one of the surviving beasts comes out of his hibernation. He lets us know we are here, we try to nuke him as well, but it doesn't go properly. Instead, as his species did before, he absorbs the new, more potent modern radiation and becomes the King of the Monsters as we know him today, (or will know him in May).
Anyways, thats my 2 cents on the matter.
1. gareth edwards has confirmed that this movie is neither connected or follows up of the Original movie. it is it's own movie, it has no connection to any other godzilla movie, it will have easter eggs and references but thats about it
2. how many times are you guys gonna talk about the gills, this is like the 100th topic about the 'gills', yamane is not in this film's universe, dr serizawa last name is ONLY a homage to the original by last name, the full name of the ORIGINAL serizawa was Daisuke Serizawa, the new serizawa's full name is Ichiro Serizawa.
i like how you try to explain that the gills are the only way for godzilla to be a semi aquatic animal, but this isn't nessesry becuase so many people have tryed to explain it as well, the gills are probably only used to give godzilla a more realistic APPEARNCE.
start off with the original japanese masterpiece that started it all it is more realistic than any of the other movies and this is also where godzilla's saga begins ;)
i would say that the original king ghidorah and kaiser ghidorah are his ultimate foes but destroyah fought godzilla while he was sick and was dying because of his sickness.
no wait a minute i think i might now what it is, it is possible a poster revealing godzilla and the muto in a fight and revealing a secret to us all i for one seen this poster but it was removed due to studios request it was once available on ebay but ebay had to remove it due to studios request i swear on my life that i seen it damn it i wish i could have got a picture of it damn it.
@Dup004
The double feature change was most likely done to accomodate Godzilla 2000, which will likely get special treatment. Otherwise, that set would've included Godzilla vs. Destroyah / Godzilla 2000. (Which is a better pairing, I think, but I can understand they're trying to keep the releases as much in order as possible.)
It will be Muto related now will it be a trailer or a clip but rest assured we will get our first look at the Muto.
i am sensing a huge trailer coming on the way one that will destroy all of our minds :)
Yes it's tru! Thank the Lord Almighty!
Guys,
It's not an April Fools prank. And it's not real either. FriendlyFactCheck is right. Google confused the new movie with Railto's theatrical re-release of the original Godzilla (1954) which has a 98 minute runtime and is being re-released this April.
Case closed.
well if you have the original gojira film on dvd under the special features there is a commentary by ed godzewiski and he tells us that there were some scenes in the original that did not make the cut because of the realism they went for
1. godzilla hill scene he was suppose to have a cow in his mouth
2. ogata and emiko on the beach on odo island where they see crumbling rocks and godzillas tail, shinkichi was suppose to grab a rifle and started shooting at godzilla's tail
this was a few that i could remember but none of these made the cuts for the film brazil and china said they were too brutal to film during this time back in 1954 :)
but as far as spacegodzilla goes i think there were scenes from each movie of godzilla's saga that never made the cut :)

@Kaijujira, the release on April is the rediffusion of G54. So don't worry.

The April release date is for the original (Godzilla 1954 film) which will get a limited theatrical run at that time.
