@Petedj06
Well, that you just might have confirmed my worst fears- a noisy audience at the theater. Man, I really hope people don't do that when I'm watching the movie.
Where did you post it at? I tried to search the whole Scified site, and I couldn't find anything posted about it.
Hooray! I'm late as hell! I hope the score sounds similar to the score from previous movies. At least give Godzilla his main theme.
Godzilla and I were born the same year: 1954. I began watching the movies in the early 60s and never looked back. In those early films, Godzilla as a "monster" was unique because he had a personality; he wasn't just a destructive reptile. He responded emotionally to situations. You could tell when he was mad; it was clear, too, when he was happy. You could tell that he understood that he could use his powers for both good and evil. He was tenacious - even when his butt was kicked in battle, he got up and kept on swinging. He is a metaphor for all our lives.
Gareth Edwards confirmed there would be no post credit scenes. He wants this to be a stand alone film without the NEED for a sequel, which means that its ending is final and leaves nothing to be desired or to the imagination. It's a solid ending that will be a real ending.
Actually, the height of Godzilla isn't necessarily exaggerated in the trailers. The depth of the water around the Golden Gate Bridge is about 372 ft deep at the center, but it trails off towards the edges. Godzilla's attack on the bridge and his encounter with the military is likely nearer to the shore than the trailers let on. The bridge is, after all, a mile and a quarter long, so the section we see in the trailers is only a fraction of its total length.
If he's anywhere near the shore, within several hundred meters of it, he'll be able to stand up no problem.
I see what you did there G Fan 84! I see what you did there. lol
i dont think godzilla would be floating here, to come up to where he is on the bridge, it pretty much just be everything bellow his knees in the water and that would make a lot less sence than him just being bigger than what we have been led to belive
No Toho Monsters please.
Ghidorah, and indeed all the other Toho monsters, have no place in this new franchise. The franchise is about Godzilla, not the Toho line up. 'Godzilla' is not synonymous with the Toho line up. 'Godzilla' is synonymous to 'Godzilla,' the single creature created by Toho to represent the horrors of the nuclear bombs.
I firmly believe the Toho line up should remain in Toho. Legendary has enough creativity to create a series about this creature if they so desire without ever touching a single Toho monster design. Besides, Toho are not in charge of this film for those who are confused about Toho's role. This is a Legendary Pictures film, and even though a few members of Toho are on the executive producer spots, that doesn't mean they're in charge. Legendary is, and it's Legendary Pictures who make all the final decisions. I believe that if Legendary use a Toho monster, they're officially unfit for the franchise and should hand it back to Toho so that the Toho line up actually have relevance again.
Anyway, as far as sequels go, naming them is kind of difficult because we don't know the lore of this new movie yet. Once we've seen the movie and have a better idea of what Gareth has done with the Godzilla lore, I'll be happy to contribute to the idea. But for now, I think this whole idea is a bit premature. Without understanding the new lore in its entirety, trying to think of sequels is just a name game that has no real relevance to the subject matter.
Lol DRAGONLORD TEVIN. I've gone through a lot of previous threads regarding speculation and predictions and I never saw any of your predictions line up with the minor spoilers that the track listing represents. Wanting attention and recognition for something you didn't claim perhaps?
Anyway, back to the main point at hand! The track listing is awesome. If you guys want to buy it, go to amazon. It's available for pre order now. I already pre ordered mine!
But this brings up an interesting question that I think we all can ask ourselves: What does the first track mean?
The track's name is simply "Godzilla!" But what does that mean? Is that an opening title track? Is it meant to accompany Godzilla's appearance right at the beginning of the movie? Is it a reference to perhaps a remix of Akira Ifukube's original Godzilla theme? Is it simply the name of a new theme for Godzilla?
There's a lot of questions that can be asked from the name of that title alone. Personally, I'm hoping for a mix of the first two options myself, though I admit as a die hard fan I'd LOVE for a melodic homage to Ifukube's theme to be in there somewhere.
What do you think?
@Reggie
yeah, I saw the trailer in IMAX for the fist time at the midnight Cap2 showing. I looks amazing, night and day difference. (The audience agreed as the trailer was followed by much whooping, hollering, clapping, and a distinctive f--k yeah!)
Muto has NOT been confirmed to have multiple forms in this movie. Anyone who says it has is full of bs and is not to be trusted with information. The Muto's only have the forms in which they appear in within the trailers. There is no link to Destoroyah in the Muto creature, so please don't reference the Destoroyah rumor again. There won't be any multiple forms in this movie. No such information has ever been confirmed. Only speculated upon. Speculation is NOT fact.
So please don't get those two concepts confused.
Facts are your friends, and the facts are that the Muto's don't have mutliple forms.
I'LL BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR!!!!!!!
Lol.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The bones were never confirmed as Godzilla's. Anyone who says they are is full of bs and is not to be trusted. The bones are just bones. To what? We don't know. Nobody ever confirmed what they belonged to. Not Gareth. Not Legendary. Not Warner Bros,.
But that's beside the point. The theory on the aliens is out because Gareth confirmed in his interviews that he wanted this movie to imagine "What if these creatures had been here all along but were just never found. How could we tell a story about that?"
Both Godzilla and the Muto's are earth creatures that are going to be revealed to have been here for a good long time.
You're welcome!
Zilla looks fantastic, and would greatly benefit from a fully poseable figure that SHMA is known for.
It's not bad, I'll say that. For being done in photoshop and other things on the computer, it's pretty damn good.
If I may, I'd like to provide some constructive criticism and some advice on how you can improve upon it.
First of all, the folds under his eyes are doo deep and go too far down his face towards the back of his head. Those elongated "U" shaped ridges are much tighter to his cheek bone area, but right now it looks like his entire face is caved in from the middle of his nose to to halfway down his head.
So my advice for making that a bit tighter and better is to get rid of the largest ridge on the bottom. It's too long and makes it look like the whole side of his head is an eye socket. So take that ridge out. Maybe leave a little bit of it rght beneath the eye, but keep it going straight back instead of curving up or it will still look like an eye socket extention.
Next is Godzilla's lower jaw. Right now, his jaw doesn't go back far enough, nor is it big enough, to give that powerful animal impression. It looks more like the lower part of a beak with some teeth. Take a look at some of the other Godzilla photos that are online and note how large his lower jaw is. Especially the hinge of his jaw, which is a large circular shape.
And lastly, Godzilla's mouth as a whole. It's a bit too short and it looks stubby almost like a pug. His mouth isn't as long as the original Toho series in this movie, but it's a bit longer than what you have. Just give it a tiny extension and it should be just fine. But right now it's too short.
So that's the end of my constructive criticism. If some of it came off as harsh, then I apologize. I'm just trying to be honest and give you as good of an explanation as I can to help you understand the things which I believe could use improvement. It's a good piece so far for sure, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to knock it in any way. I'm just being honest and letting you know what areas I believe are weakest.
Hope it helped!
AwsomeJaijuFan, I am with you on that one.
One thing to keep in mind cgi almost never looks good or quite right when it's seen in a static image i.e. photo or screenshot. The only images I saw that I felt didn't look as good to me was the tsunami scene where we see the water coming towards the camera with the people fleeing from it. But when I saw the trailer in IMAX 3D it looked one helluva lot better. This movie will pop in IMAX 3D trust me on that. Those of you that have seen the trailer in that format definitely know I'm not kidding about that.
i totally want a zilla monster arts i dont care what anyone says about the movie zilla is a pretty awsome kaiju
@DannyBlazor I don't really understand how the Muto and Godzilla have been around for so long and how something like the Muto existed so long ago. It's mind boggling! Even mind boggling to myself!
Hope you win KiryuGoji.
@Ananasatom, thanks for share the poster, :) but it was already posted in the forums, here.. http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/33301
Yeah, I agree with DannyBlazor. I think the CGI looks fluffing great! You guys are just expecting way too much.
The CGI in this film (from what we have seen) looks better than the Avengers and definitely The Amazing Spiderman 2.
The bridge shot is definitely lacking as a still, but as a moving picture, it looks pretty fluid and overall well done.
I hope the soundtrack is put on iTunes. Also did anyone catch my joke/word play from my earlier comment?
@NPINKHAM19; What...are...you...talking...about? I have no idea what a SUPERMECHADEATHCHRIST2000 VERSION 2.0 BETA is.
The Gyaos were also in the original series. They are basicly bird like creatures similar to Rodan. They are nocturnal, hate sunlight, fire a sonic lazer from their mouths which can cut clean through steel and they have a taste for human flesh. Gyaos was Gamera's most popular enemy in the orignial series and the most common amongst the films. They rebooted him as Gamera's mortal enemy in the second series. There is a famous scene in the original Gamera vs Gyaos and Gamera the Guardian of the Universe movies where Gyaos derails a train, tear a single car from the rest of it and eat the passengers inside. When I was younger, I sometimes had nightmares about Gyaos after watching a Gamera movie with Gyaos in it.
For today's standards, that's not bad CGI. You guys are just over analyzing
Rodan isn't in it but I hear Godzilla fights SUPERMECHADEATHCHRIST2000 VERSION 2.0 BETA.
As cool as it would be, Rodan is sadly not in the movie.
I could go on and on about the 90's Gamera series. Any kaiju fan should give that trilogy a try as in my opinion they dominated the hesei Godzilla films with the exceptions of 85 and Biollante.
Basically I'd say stay away from the original series. It's basic monster on the loose awakened by nukes. All the sequels for no reason really explained he protects children from cheap looking monsters. The first series mainly follows annoying child characters and spends way too much time with scientists/military EXPLAINING EVERY SINGLE THING.
The second series reworked his origin. Atlantis created Gyaos creatures which became a big threat to them and had to engineer Gamera ( They've tried before, making many prototypes of Gamera) to defeat the Gyaos. So when the Gyaos awakens so does Gamera to save the world like he was programed to do. The three films are written so well with great characters and for the time AMAZING sfx. Seriously look up the battle of Shibuya from Gamera 3, my favorite scene in a kaiju film ever.
After that series they made Gamera: the Brave, a standalone film that actually belongs in the original series from what I've gathered. Just way to cute for my taste.
I have a new theory...might sound dumb though. What if the the meteor that destroyed the dinosaurs way back then gave off radiation that created Godzilla but ALSO on that meteor there was an insect like creature, MUTO, or maybe alien DNA that fused with the bugs on the planet after the meteor strike and created the MUTOS. Due to that there must've been an abundance of Godzilla's and MUTOS.
Gamera is a giant, flying, fire breathing turtle. He is the guardian of the universe and the friend of all children. He was created by another movie company (whose name I forgot) to rival the success of Toho and their movie monster, Godzilla by targeting the younger audience of children. Many have wished for a crossover movie where the two fight each other. The Showa era was a little childish, but the Heisei era was really good, though it was only 3 movies. Gamera is purely a good guy whose only allies are the people of earth. He has had no monster allies to date that I can think of. I recomend you watch Gamera the Guardian of the Universe. That was my first Gamera movie and it is a very good movie.
That would be intersting and awesome for an S.H. Monsterarts Gamera and Zilla Jr from (God)zilla: the series.
I personally think the best scene I've seen so far IS the Tsunami scene. ( I know many disagree with me!)
I think the worst CGI so far is....... hmm lemme think....
oh yeaaa... it's the "giant godzilla in the clouds of China Town" scene. it could've done a little bit better but still I think they need to revise that scene a little bit and then I'd be happy!
It looks fucking good! wait till the movie comes out then post this post. But now shhhhhhh!
I need to say this:
Rodan is NOT in the movie!!
sorry about caps but he's not in the MOVIE!!!
The Tsunami scenes could have done better, IMO.
