So I was rewatching Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II and discovered a potential easter egg. During the opening scene where the find Mecha King Ghidorah' severed head, I couldn't help but notice a similarity to a certain MonsterVerse post credit scene...

Its likely a homage since the MonsterVerse is full of continuity nods to the original Toho films.

Like when King Ghidorah was sucking out Godzilla's atomic energy was a homage when Kezier Ghidorah did the same thing to Godzilla in Godzilla: Final Wars.

Rodan erupting from a Volcano is a homage to the original 1957 Rodan film. Monsterverse Rodan being based on Fire Rodan is another Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II nod.

Monsterverse Mothra's sacrifice and energy transference is a double homage to her sacrifice and energy transference in GMK combined with Fire Rodan's sacrifice and energy transference in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II

@Xenotaris

Yeah, I find it pretty interesting, considering that in both continuities the heads were used to help build Mechagodzilla.

Also, The scene where Rodan emerged from the volcano made me think of the Fire Bird from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

@Xenotaris

During the scene where Godzilla kills Ghidorah's final head, you can actual see a boat that's labeled "Calico" as a reference to the HB cartoon...

Additionally, in Takayuki Sakai's manga adaptation of Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II, Mecha-King Ghidorah's digitized brain(s?) takes over MechaGodzilla's programing, turns on its human pilots to slaughter Godzilla.

Also, The ending shot of Kong in the Hollow Earth reminded me of the alternate ending level in the 2005 King Kong video game...

I was trying to make a new topic, however it keeps messing up...

I wanted to mention how Godzilla vs Kong has officially made 357.8 million against a break-even point of 330 million, making it the first major box office success since the pandemic.

That would be a good fact to go in the food for thought topic
