(This is going to be short, because I also want to see how everyone else ranks these movies in the comments too.)

So Godzilla Vs. Kong came out yesterday and now that I've watched it, I'm going to rank all 4 films in the MonsterVerse!  Have a look:

1. Godzilla Vs. Kong (2021)

2. Kong: Skull Island (2017)

3. Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

4. Godzilla (2014)

and that's my ranking!

This is a movie ranking, and I wasn't a fan of aftershock.

I don't really like ranking. I'll just say Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla '14 were the strongest and Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong were the weakest.

@sonictiger

Godzilla 2014 had some of the best build-ups and use of atmosphere I've seen for a monster film. Everytime one of these colossal beings showed up on screen, it was always in such a way that felt so real and legitimate. The sound design also helped sell it. Its by far the best out of the 4.

Godzilla vs Kong succeeds in having the most fun with its fights while also making them the most fluid they've ever been. The animations were phenomenal this time around. Camera work was creative and it was visually very appealing, especially with its lighting. The plot was ok but seeing how everything came together for the final struggle had me giggling like a child haha.

Kong: Skull Island has fun with itself too, and it is definitely a lot of fun to watch. Its an adventure first and foremost, but the action to me was good just not the best it could've been (excluding the final battle, that was pretty badass).

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is an absolute mess that is the result of being too restrained with its content. You have 4 big name classic monsters in the same film yet the only decent thing about them were their themes and new designs. The fights are obscure and hardly worth watching even with the cutaways (the animation was so stiff and choreography was bland as all hell). They took a villain they developed decently and ruined her with a redemption scene. The final fight where all of them come together is probably the biggest disappointment I've seen as the audience is 80% of the time confined to a camera in awkward positions as main character struggles to find his daughter. How a film with so much content ended up holding back so much is confusing to me.

That's my take.

ChrisRemix,
I think whether or not Emma was a villain is still up for debate. She comes off as crazy and then the end credits legitimizes her... Even Godzilla vs. Kong couldn't decide if she were a hero or villain with that brief shot of the newspaper clipping of her.

1. KoTM (For its action)

2. GvK (Intense and I LOVE that final fight)

3. 2014 (The atmosphere of the movie was outstanding,                    but I was not a fan of not seeing more of                            Godzilla)

4. Skull Island (Just did not sit with me, got bored)

1. KOTM (Story was lame as hell, but the Titans breaking free was bad$%&

2. Skull Island (Because I have just a great time watching the fights)

3. Godzilla ( Only decent scene was when Godzilla is fully revealed and it switches to the news channel showing the fight)

Still need to watch GvK.

Ah shit I’m using my wrong eye again. Sorry that was meant to be behind your back

I agree the story is lame as hell for KOTM.

But I like Skull Island and GVK better than KOTM, but frankly that's because I favor Kong more.

@G.H. (Gman)

In all honesty the woman having her crazed ideals should've stayed that way. I feel like whether or not she was a villain shouldn't even be a debate because what her actions were villainous even if she didn't see it that way. I actually liked that aspect of her and I feel those ideals should've blinded her love for her daughter to the very end. That way we, as an audience, can progress through the film while watching her descend into this madness that she cant see herself.

I feel like WB had no idea how to make Emma's arc work.

I also felt like that with Madison in GVK, I think they just kept Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler in the franchise so they could attract more viewers because Madison was the best (new) human character in KOTM.

@ChrisRemix
She didn’t come off as crazy or insane to me. It was more desperation for me. It felt conscious. She knew that what she was doing was going to hurt people and spent the entire movie pushing down her feelings. Madison had gained some of these ideals but didn’t realize what would happen. She had ideas that people would die (shown in the clip where they walk into Monarch Outpost 32) but didn’t know how horrible it was when it actually happened. So I don’t think that redemption was the worst choice for Emma. Being lonely and desperate for some closure of some kind, made her do these choices which to her seemed noble, but in reality are selfish choices. Madison made her realize this and she was able to come out of herself.

Im not going to continue to try and convince you the human story wasn’t the worst thing ever.

Also random Note

The Novelization makes the human story better.

I feel like they never should've given Emma a redemption arc.

One prob I have with ratings is that it sounds like the GvK human story isn’t much better that KOtM but gets better reviews. Oh well... Tomatometer ruined movie reviewing a long while ago

Honestly, the human characters in the MonsterVerse are consistently dragging it down.
