Kaijubiology: Godzilla's Intimidation Display

MemberTitanosaurusDec-23-2019 4:05 PMOkay, so remember Godzilla's intimidation display from KOTM? Minor side-ramble, but I personally think it's the single best scene in the entire movie. There's something so ominous and unnerving and down-right spooky about how quiet the big guy is during this scene. We're so used to him stomping around, skreoonking for the world to hear that when he's doing something other than that, it honestly strikes me as a lot scarier. To say nothing of that jump scare at the end. I mean, c'mon, how many people can say that they've had a kaiju do an effective jump scare? (Well, except for Cloverfield).
*ahem* But I digress. Getting back to my original point, I've noticed that there have been one or two people who don't get how he does it. And I personally don't blame 'em; glowing spines usually equals incoming death, right? So why's he stopping halfway?
I think what he's doing in this scene is powering up his atomic breath up, cycling energy through his spines, but only half-charging it before letting it go down again. Sort of like revving a motorcycle engine.
Looking at it from an animalistic standpoint, this makes a whole lot more sense when you consider what sort of world he came from. Titanus Gojira was once the top predator on the planet; any potential rivals would probably be well aware of the tell-tale glowing spines, and it would be an easily recognizable sign that things could potentially get dangerous.
And that's my ramble for the day. Well, actually the second ramble of the day...

Doesn't that kind of go without saying? :)
