A Godzilla fanfiction by TVR
Prologue
August 6, 1945. An American fighter jet had just dropped the world's first nuclear bomb upon the city of Hiroshima, Japan. All was silent, as the warhead obliterated the city and everything else within its blast radius. Miles from the impact, a family was eating as they heard the bomb detonate. They looked outside a window to see a massive cloud of smoke in the distance. Back at the site of the bombing, the city, or rather, what was left of it, was completely barren and devoid of life. The once busy and bustling streets of Hiroshima were now left with thick, dark clouds of smoke filling the sky and the demolished remains of buildings scattered everywhere.
However, within the city, stood a massive thing--an entity, standing upright. It was roughly four-hundred feet tall, and had reptilian features; a charcoal-scaled body, a head like that of a lizard, muscular, clawed forearms, and bulky legs ending in four-clawed feet. In addition, it had a massive tail. Dorsal plates shaped like maple leaves ran from its neck to its tail, perhaps used for display. The creature's piercing, jade-green eyes scanned the area, before it consumed the radiation left in the bomb's wake.
The family we saw earlier lived just out of the bomb's impact radius, and saw the monster as it left, wading into the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean. Their fates were intertwined, and the son of the family's only child--along with that of the monster--would never be the same.
Chapter One: King of the Monsters
Over the next seven decades, nuclear warfare would continue to progress and advance, with weapons becoming more destructive and powerful. However, unbeknownst to the humans who created these weapons, the radiation they released upon use would bring about ancient creatures not seen in thousands of years. And Hiroshima was just the beginning. In present-day 2017, an American SWAT team was sent to Chernobyl, a place where a nuclear disaster had taken place back in the twentieth century. Among the soldiers dispatched to Chernobyl was Gavin Harrison, who was the son of the child in the family mentioned earlier. That child, was only an infant when the bomb was dropped, and would grow up to study paleozoology.
Gavin and his team were wearing gas masks that protected them from the nuclear radiation, as they explored the landscape. However, the devices they wore displayed no signs of nuclear radiation. Gavin's hand closed around his mask, as, with one swift motion, he pulled it off, much to the dismay of the other soldiers.
"It's clean," he assured them in his gruff voice. His team-mates removed their masks as well, inhaling the clean air. Suddenly, they heard a bellow in the distance, as they looked out from behind a ruined building, to see the cause of the radiation's disappearance. It was a creature, ressembling a water iguana and a Tyrannosaurus rex. It stood horizontally like the tyrant lizard, but its facial features and details were like that of an iguana. The monster's head was box-shaped, and it was a creature that had been mutated by the Chernobyl disaster. For years, it had fed on the radiation in the air, slowly but surely cleaning the area. The monster, seen by very few, was dubbed Zilla by those who did lay their eyes upon it.
But then, another roar got the team's attention--as they turned their heads in the opposite direction, to see another creature. This one appeared to be much larger, and Gavin recognised it from an animal he had seen in one of his father's notebooks. It stood upright, had massive, clawed limbs, leaf-shaped dorsal plates, and reptilian features. Its jade-green eyes had their gaze fixed upon Zilla, who growled in opposition. The other monster pulled back its lips, baring its car-sized fangs as it unleashed an intimidating roar, unlike that of any other animal on the planet. It exceeded the sound of a jumbo jet taking off, and nearly shattered the ears of the humans, who were insignificant compared to this massive beast. The creature, who's name, as legend speaks, was Godzilla, the King of the Monsters.

Godzilla Generations was a beautiful game! I loved the fact that there's a laser cannon inside of Dr. Serizawa's eyepatch.
