Look at the CGI in this clip from the new Attack on Titan movie! Then think Godzilla 2016

That's not CGI. Well, it has CGI touch ups and high production values, but it's still people in costumes and well-made puppets. Atleast from the behind the scenes festures I've seen.

Attack on Titan's effects only use CG to enhance it. What you're seeing are suits and puppets. The special effects are by Shinji Higuchi who did the special effects for the Gamera Trilogy.

2. If they used the same technique for the Godzilla 2016 movie, that would be awesome!

If Toho Godzilla 2016 has effects on par with this clip, then we've got a winner, at least visually.

The Attack on Titan clip shows what can be accomplished, in terms of practical effects, with enough time and the right talent. Things have apparently come a long way in the area of tokusatsu effects.

After seeing this clip, I am convinced more than ever that Toho Godzilla 2016 should be made with traditional effects augmented with CGI.
