The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-12-2014 10:05 PMYou don't really have to. They provide enough backstory early on in Rulers of Earth to cover what happened in Godzilla: Ongoing that was important. Nothing really important happened in Kingdom of Monsters besides the first appearance of some of the more important monsters and the introduction of the main human character. But again, they do a pretty good job covering that stuff in Rulers of Earth and none of it is really too important for understanding the story. But Godzilla: Ongoing is still a good series to read if you have a chance. I didn't really care for Kingdom of Monsters though.

AdminGodzillaDec-12-2014 10:22 PMI didn't care for either Kingdom of Monsters or Ongoing... But man Rulers of Earth is one hell of a fun romp. They're really taking advantage of the Toho slate. My brain nearly exploded at how awesome an idea it was to have Jet Jaguar shrink down to size and pilot Kiryu.

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-12-2014 10:50 PMRulers of Earth is in my opinion the best series IDW has pumped out. Godzilla: Ongoing started out okay and really lagged throughout the middle issues before becoming absolutely awesome at the end. Godzilla: The Half-Century War is my second favorite, just because of the unique art style and great story. Cataclysm is solid too, but I feel its story suffers from being crammed into five issues.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-14-2014 4:28 PMwanted to get into cataclysm but waiting for the inevetable trade collection. Been iffy on ROE, the Gangsters and Goliaths people raved about was kinda blah to me and ongoing was decent, didn't bother with Kingdom but Half Century War was outstanding.
