2014 Godzilla and MUTOs movie novelization sizes

When looking back at the 2014 Godzilla movie novelization in comparison to the numbers for Godzilla and the MUTOs sizes appearing in the Godzilla.wikia and Tohokingdom's "Monster Bios" and have found that they differ. Let me show you.

First the movie...

2014 Godzilla {movie}
Winged MUTO: 300' tall
Godzilla: 355' tall
Female MUTO: 341' tall

Okay, now let's compare that same monster size to the novelization...

2014 Godzilla {movie novelization}
Page 112: Winged MUTO is nearly 200' tall.

Page 156//Page 228: Godzilla is nearly 200'
taller than Winged MUTO// Godzilla is nearly
400' tall.

Page 263: Godzilla was at least 50' taller
than Female MUTO

Now the Female MUTO's size was never compared to the Winged MUTO except to say she was bigger and more massive than her male counterpart. The only size indication is from page 263. Judging from the novelization's size info (rounding up) I'd put it as...

Winged MUTO: 200' tall

Godzilla: 400' tall

Female MUTO: 350' tall.

For those that have seen the actual movie, which size figure (#s from Godzilla.wikia/Tohokingdom.com vs official movie novelization) is more accurate?

You brought up and interesting topic, now considering your other size issue topic, Godzilla is definitely more that 355 ft, and Tohokingdom is more accurate, because Graham says " it is nearly 300 ft tall, much larger than the other one, so although size is sometimes inconsistent it would put this.

Godzilla: 355- 400 ft tall

Femuto: 300-355 ft tall

Male Muto: 181-220 ft tall

My weights:

Godzilla:90 000 tons

Femuto: 76 000 tons

Male Muto: 46 000 tons

Just my opinions :)

The Winged Muto is definitely not 300'. I don't know where that came from. The female MUTO was much more likely to be 300' by comparison, and they even said in the movie that she was "nearly 300 feet" in height.

Another thing that affects percepted height is posture. Godzilla stands and walks with a hunched forward posture, meaning that even if he's usually 355' on a hunch he could stand closer to 380'-400' when he straightens his back and neck like he did for the first atmoic breath scene.

The female Muto was likely around 280-300' in the movie given her also forward hunched posture, but with her multiple limbs pushing her upright she could easily reach 320'-340'. The winged Muto, not so much. He was barely 200' regardless of his posture and the smallest creature in the film. His wingspan gave the impression he was larger than he was, but ultimately he was still a runt compared to the other two. Not trying to dog him here, just saying what it looks like.

So ultimately posture will affect the perception even in novelizations and "official" works regarding the film. These are living creatures, not robots. They don't stand at a perfect height every second of their lives. They have biological bodies which move, flex, and retract and change with each and every step and breath they take.

You can't make any arguments about such things as height when they are constantly changing from step to step and breath to breath. It's just not worth the time or effort to do so.
