Serious question about Godzilla's Atomic Breath

Not counting the comic as I haven't read it, both times it was used in the movie were very close up, so I doubt it has serious range to it.

HIGH FLYERS TAG TEAM - From what I can tell, Edwards' Godzilla can use his atomic breath only at what would be considered close to medium ranges - likely because of the considerable drain it places upon his reserves of nuclear energy. However, if I were to make a guess at the distance to which his breath can be fired, I'd have to say its effective range would be somewherte between 70 and 100 meters. Of course, that's complete speculation on my part - take it with a very healthy grain of salt! :)

I would say not very far, in the movie he shot it only 20-30m I think, my memory and distance judging is a bit off right now.

Well, we only saw him use it in close-quarters situations, so there's absolutely no way of telling how far it can go.

Well I'd like to think that in the sequels, if Godzilla continues to fight more monsters, he becomes more powerful and learns to use his breath at a greater range.  We don't really know what the maximum range of his breath was in the movie but it could still be greater than what we saw!

As far as how a 200 feet flamethrower would shoot.

IMO, his atomic breath is very flame-like, so like what dragonlord tevin mentioned, think of a well, 300 ft flamethrower.

Well, he's basically vomiting super-condensed plasma with this iteration of the atomic breath. The thing with plasma is that it's not very useful for longer ranges due to the ionization effect not lasting over longer distances unless something like an elecromagentic field is used to stabilize it in flight.
