Homage to/Poke at Cloverfield?

Anyone else see the homage/fun quasi-poke at JJ Abrams and Cloverfield? First, the MUTOs definitely have some resemblance to the CF monster (their limbs and how they move). Then there's the defaced Statue of Liberty in Vegas parallel with the real one mangled in CF. Noted too was how Edwards made Gozilla 355 feet tall (CFM was 350 feet tall). And of course, Godzilla kills both CF-resembling MUTOs. Game over!

I think it was a light-hearted, "Dont forget, my monster's the King of monsters, JJ" message. Whatta y'all think?

CARL MAJORS - Hmm,it's possible that Edwards may have been attempting an extremely veiled homage to Cloverfield. I very much doubt that he'd want to straight-out poke fun at the film, however, I've no way of knowing the man's mind, so he could very well have been doing so! With regards to the MUTOs: I did see some minor similarities to CLover in their physiology. That being said, the MUTOs were definately much more mobile and graceful. The female could run with incredible speed, while the male was practically a daredevil flyer! :)
