MemberBaragonMay-02-2014 3:55 AMIs this merely a wish from some over eager fan or real? It dosen't say anything about which studio is doing this or the producer or director...

He isn't from space. But he has traveled in space before and fought many monsters from space.
Sweet! It's about time Gamera made a return! I can't wait.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-02-2014 5:55 AMHeard about this a long time ago and check back time to time to see the progress but all I keep getting is that it'll be here in 2015. Outside of America movies are forced out at a fast pace. This thing can go through pre-production to post in a few months but I hope they take their time with it.
Like all of you I dream of Gamera vs. Godzilla and now more than ever I feel its a strong possibility. Toho feels with modern technology suitmation is nearly dead and have demolished a few stages where they filmed Godzilla scenes for 60 years. The last Toho Godzilla film was a decade ago yet they won't abandon their biggest money maker. Daiei studios was all for g vs g but Toho declined but now something truly spectacular has to happen for Toho to revive Godzilla.
In my lifetime I'm optimistic about G vs G or even the king kong remake that almost happened instead of Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. If G vs. G does happen I want a complete reboot on both ends, a solo Godzilla and Gamera film that establishes them existing in the same world before we pit them against each other. Also don't take the typical tie ending like crossovers like to do and try to please both fan groups. I'll say it, kill one of them.

AdminGodzillaMay-02-2014 10:26 AMKind of surprised at how many people didn't know this since the news of a new Gamera movie broke in March. Here's August Ragone's (author of Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters) blog post on the subject. I assure he's legit and it's legit:

Honestly, I'm just as excited about the new Gamera movie as I am Legendary's Godzilla. The last Gamera movie was eight years ago, but it doesn't stick out like the Gamera Trilogy did. In reality it almost feels like we haven't been given a Gamera film since 1999's Gamera 3.
I do hope it's made with new techniques in the traditional tokusatsu style.
As for those hoping this means a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie will be more likely because of it: Don't count on it. Daiei may want to do it, but Toho hasn't wanted to do a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie for 60 years. Why would they now? Especially when they're about to make bank on another Hollywood production?

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-02-2014 12:32 PMSuch excitement here isn't there? I love it!
I'm not a big Gamera fan myself, having only watched 1 movie, but I will say, if a new movie swings itself our way, I will get my hands on it.
