MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-28-2014 6:58 PMPotentially big spoilers from the leaked synopsis (if it's legit).
Without preamble, here's how I think it will play out. At the opening of the film Godzilla is slumbering somewhere off the coast of Japan and the Mutos are being confined by the U.S. military somewhere like Nevada. *cough*Area51*cough*
Not to be vague, but something happens which both wakes Godzilla and sets the Mutos free. The leaked plot synopsis indicates that the Mutos and Godzilla are ancient creatures that existed at the same time. In fact, the Mutos needed Godzilla's species in some way in order to procreate (probably by having their young feed on his juicy radioactive innards).
The female ("flying") Muto begins constructing a hive or nest in San Francisco while the male ("spider") Muto, knowing that radioactive materials will draw Godzilla towards them, goes about raiding military stockpiles for nukes (it's been confirmed that the military are moving nukes to more secure areas but we were never explicitly told for what reason).
After some nest building, the female intercepts Godzilla in Hawaii and we see the first kaiju battle of the film (I have nothing to back this up, I just expect a preliminary fight part-way into the film and this sounds reasonable).
Meanwhile, the male Muto has returned to San Fran with a mighty haul of nukes and continues to shape the nest/battle the army (we absolutely see scenes of the latter in the trailer).
The female Muto returns after her battle with Godzilla and lays eggs on and around the nukes (that's right, I think that 'tentacle' thing holding the nuke is actually strings of eggs). She does this to ensure Godzilla will come into close contact with them.
The finale: Godzilla arrives in a San Francisco already massively messed up and transformed by the Mutos. This is also where the HALO jump happens. (Why do they have to jump from so high when Godzilla is only 350 feet tall? Because the female Muto has already been swatting jets out of the air (also in the trailer).) Epic fight commences between Godzilla and the Muto pair. Additionally, I'd also love to see the eggs hatch and have some Destoroyah/Legion-like enemies that try to feed on Godzilla, making this last battle even more grueling. It's at this point Godzilla begins making his turn from "Destroyer of Worlds" to "Restorer of Balance".
In summary: Not only have we not seen how epic this film is going to be, we haven't even begun to considerate it. The final confrontation in San Francisco is going to be like some kind of alien hell, with a scale much grander and bizarre than we're assuming.
There are still plenty of pieces missing and there's probably some holes (so point them out already!) but as a general plot (and ignoring the humans) I think that's how it'll go at this point. What do others think? Does it feel right?

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-28-2014 8:09 PMI definitely wouldn't rule this out. In my opinion a lot of what you're saying fits into place with what we've seen and heard so far.
Also, though I noticed that some people don't care for the whole 'Mutos feeding on Godzilla's radiation' thing, it makes sense to me. If the Mutos are focused on Godzilla, that will definitely make the battles more intense, in my opinion.
I think the reason some people don't like that idea is because Godzilla is the King of the monsters, and therefore they don't think he should be a victim to any of them. However, kings are attacked for their authority and position. It would make sense for the Mutos to try and feed on Godzilla's radiation- he's the King. With Godzilla's radiation and him out of the way, the Mutos would be in a higher position above humanity along with being the most powerful species.
