Going back to an old picture

Many of you will probably remember when this image, and others like it, popped up online: 

I have a couple of questions:

1. was this ever confirmed/denied to be real concept art for the movie?

2. If it is real, what can it say about the moive.

It it was confimred, this can offer some real knowlege on the movie. Most obviously, that there is a monster that is much larger than Godzilla in the film. It may look completely different, than it does here (like Godzilla), but its size is significantly larger than the big guy.

If it was confirmed to be fan-art or not real, then I am sorry for wasting you time...
