Yeah, he is a little too humanoid, I will sketch a better one soon. :) This is just a basis.

i think it should have mandibles on it to make it  more ferocious

I really hope that the winged Muto won't be queen or second form of the eight-legged Mutos, and that "Muto" will just be how they refer to all the monsters (like how they call the monsters "mutations" in Godzilla: The Series). Beehive and metamorphosizing insect monsters are just so incredibly boring and overdone.

That is probably what it will look like. I think you are very close to its actual design.

Really cool sketch. I wonder if the initial wave of MUTO's will be followed by the emergance of their queen. Godzilla might eradicate them leading to righteous vengeance from this much bigger threat. I'm almost certain there will be a creature who can stand toe to toe with the big G based on his described fighting style and this "winged muto" may well be the monster in question.
