Warner Brothers have released a brand new official plot synopsis for Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong (2020)!
Following the unfortunate news that CinemaCon was cancelled, which seemingly delayed the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer release date, we at least now have a new synopsis to dissect. The new plot outline makes reference to revealing clues to the Titan / Monster origins within the Monsterverse and a Human conspiracy which aims to rid the Earth of all Titans (both good and bad):
Legends collide as Godzilla and Kong, the two most powerful forces of nature, clash on the big screen in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into fantastic uncharted terrain, unearthing clues to the Titans’ very origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
Previously, the old official synopsis for Godzilla vs. Kong insinuated that it was humanity's fight for their future is what pits Godzilla against Kong, but the new synopsis reworded this initiative. The remainder of the outline remains consistent:
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
Does this mean the plot was reworked slightly to remove humanity's impact on the battle between Godzilla and Kong? The subtle change makes us wonder.
Currently no concrete trailer release date for Godzilla vs. Kong has been set, but we originally expected the trailer to land online by the end of this month. This was however, before this Coronavirus was wrecking havoc on Hollywood's schedules... Be sure to check back often for more updates as we learn more!
